Well guys, for me, it was a lifelong dream come true and one that I didnt think I would ever see. Without a doubt this was the best concert I have ever been to. Paul was astounding, really amazing. I was a bit concerned when I watched him on tv at the Isle Of Wight festival but I needn't have worried. He delivered big time. Highlights for me were Back In The USSR (I was going daft at that one dancing around and doing my beach boys/surfboard bit ha ha), Live and Let Die, Hey Jude (spine tingling) and Mull Of Kintyre (tears again). My wife and I had the best time despite most people around us not really getting into it that much. I was getting quite annoyed in the beginning because no one was dancing or even cheering, a woman in front of us actually sat down for most of it even tho everyone else was standing. We were in AA8 row H (great seats). It did not stop us having the most amazing night tho, something I will treasure for the rest of my life. Paul, you are the best!

well my heart bleeds for them. perhaps they should have bought tickets for the stands! if you wanna be close to the stage AND SIT then i think its asking too much!....cake and eat it e.t.c!
We were told that Paul doesn't like people sitting down during his gig so we just HAD TO stand up If you want so sit down close to the stage, you might wanna request a chair ON stage next time

anyway ive never ever witnessed stricted security or stewards like sunday.gosh they were mean at times.i saw many heated exchanges with disgruntled punters who only wanted to get a closer pic or something like that!
They were HORRIBLE. We had a couple of arguments with them. Untill I saw Paul's 'soundcheck-lady' and asked her if she could convince the security guys to let us stand up. And she did a brilliant job!!!
There was tons of security and from different companies not just G4S...I know it's Glasgow and we may have a wee bit of a reputation sometimes but come on, it was a Paul McCartney concert - surely they weren't expecting moshpits and riots? Heh! PM's assistant was lovely - glad she was so authorative to deal with them. I saw one of my customer's working for security (I work for the jobcentre for my sins) and told him he better admit he worked that show! heh heh! I'm just very glad I am short and no one would bother if I was in front of them...no one could be in front of me anyway....apart from Paul and the photographer! Lucky was our names that day!

Hi People, Well I have just been to the greatest concert ever I arrived early at Hampden on Sunday lunch time and from outside the stadium I could hear the soundchcek, and knew then we were going to be in for something special that night. In the ground you could physically feel the atmosphere build in the crowd when the P.A. annouced the Macca would be on stage in 30mins, by the time he hit the stage shortly after 8.00pm the atmosphere was electric, and the welcome he got from us, the crowd, his fans, was almost overwhelming to him. Just as he was about to get started there was a technical problem, with I think Brian Ray's guitar, this little thing seem to make the whole thing real, live, if you know what I mean? But Paul took it all in his stride and just stood back and told us he was just going to stand there and take in the atmosphere. Once he got going, over next three hours Paul was like a graceful force of nature, pulling hit after hit, mixed with some rare live versions of back cataloge tracks. My personal highlights were, I've Just Seen a Face, Sing The Changes, Live & Let Die, the personal Here Today, and of course the second encore with quite a rare live performance of Mull Of Kintyre, with the Loretto School Pipe Band who were magnificent. A special mention for the band also who were bang on the money with everysong. I could go on all night, but I do not think I will ever see a better concert

The photos from the Revolver show looked good too! I recognised a few faces from around me at Hampden. I was so worried beforehand that it was going to be a 'sitting down' show with me being unable to dance or anything, but there was little chance of people doing anything other than dancing around me! I've got Elvis Costello in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on 2nd July, and in some ways, I'm not looking forward to sitting down at it. I like to bop about! Anyhow, I've decided to bite the bullet and have got a ticket for Hard Rock Calling. London, here I come!!!

Wow, lucky. I have been so tempted to get a ticket for London or Cardiff too but I'm working all weekend. Can't even ask for it off either as I'm off all the next weekend for a wedding. Plus, I think my mum would kill me for spending so much money. Really glad everyone in AA8 was standing, even if not everyone was getting really into it, singing/dancing. Fabulous night, and I am just starting to come down from it now. Keep leafing through my programme wanting more!

I've been searching youtube for video of hey tube so i can see my cushion! There's nothing very clear been posted yet. I wish it was this time last week so we still had the gig to look forward to! I'm still on a high and wish i could see him again! I hope he realised how much he's missed the scottish crowd and comes back to us soon!
This is what I'm hoping as well, he realises how much we love him and comes back before he retires! I think he really was a bit taken aback at the reception he got, and I'm sure that was a positive thing. Wish I could make it to Cardiff or London, but it's just not going to happen. Maybe next year.

I was in Block AA7 Row K and caught the end of Hey Jude on my camera. Just uploaded it to YouTube. Is this the cushion you were looking for?!

My first (and most likely only!) post here, however I just had to post about this gig. I've been to what must be hundreds of gigs, from stadiums to small clubs. I've seen everyone I've ever wanted to see (some many times over) and including Led Zeppelin (solo and together), Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Who, Arthur Lee & Love, Van Morrison, Peter Green, BB King, Black Crowes, RHCP, Kings Of Leon, Foo Fighters blah blah. I've seen enough to know what separates a good show from a great show. But until Sunday night I'd never seen Paul McCartney (or indeed any Beatle) in concert. So as my wife and I stood in Block AA7 Row L and watched and listened as the soundtrack to our lives was played a few feet in front of us by the man who, more than any other, is responsible for our love of music, singing songs that are part of us, well it was almost too much. This show was The One. The Greatest Gig I've Ever Seen. I doubt anything else will ever compare. I don't need to do a full review as it's been done better and more eloquently than I can but most every track was a personal highlight. There can be no other artist whose body of work means so much to so many people, and that was apparent at the show. One of my earliest memories at 3 years old is of watching Mull Of Kintyre on Top Of The Pops at Christmas time with my extended family around me all joining in on various improvised instruments. Most are no longer here, but I knew they were with me on Sunday night as that song filled the air. Quite an unbelievably emotional experience. I had expected for him to play it at Hampden, but had no idea how it would make me feel. The song is much maligned but for me it was a peak of the show. Other random favourites (I could just post the entire set here), were Blackbird, Something (sorry, but George was always my favourite Beatle!), Here Today (another emotional highpoint), Eleanor Rigby, A Day In The Life, I've Just Seen A Face, Live And Let Die (the heat from those flames!!!!) and Band On The Run. There's no need to go on. You all know how it is .... Finishing the show with The End was the perfect finale. 'The love you take is equal to the love you make'. A perfect message at the end of a perfect show. And although I'm sure he won't read this note, thank you Paul. Twenty years since you last played in Scotland, Sunday night more than made up for the wait. Just don't leave it so long next time .....

great words above and i totally agree with 'the jist of your letter'. however i do not believe mccartney will ever tour like this in the UK again.its the end of the line i would say. perhaps some american or world dates in the years that follow but with the possible exception of something special in liverpool or a charity do in london i believe its the end of the end for the UK. his voice is still strong for a 68 yrold and he pulls off an amazing show. however the mccartney melodic sweetness has all but gone from those pipes now and im sure he will wind down whilst hes still at the top of his game. the rockers by and large are no problem for him and indeed the solo accoustic stadium singalongs like yesterday are helped by the mass echo crowd participation. songs like 'the long and winding road' however reveal a voice just about holding it together and pretty painfull to listen too. im not being negative,im just being realistic. indeed one of my favourite experiances on sunday night was listening to the scottish crowd leave the gig in utter astonishment at what they had just witnessed. i heard one guy say to his mate. "paul, that was amazing.everything is forgiven.i think i just watched the best concert of my life easily". that was the kind of vibe at the end.the concert was a massive massive succsess.

I've seen Macca every time he has come to Scotland since 76, The Apollo, SECC but Sunday at Hampden will live with me forever. From the moment i got out of my bed on Sunday, Macca songs filled my house, around 1pm 11 of us headed into Glasgow city centre, with the sun shining it was like a carnival atmosphere in Georges Square, ohhhhh the beer was good too heading up towards Hampden people were singing all the songs, you really felt a buzz around the place, once inside the ground, you just knew it was going to be a special night, me and a mate managed to do a sneaky and get down to the front of the stage, touching distance from the great man himself, we danced and sang ourselves hoarse and met up with some really great people, so many moments to cherish yet it all seems a blur now, probably too much to take in, think i've got Macca withdrawal symptoms now lol a few special moments I should mention, in a quieter moment I shouted HAPPY BIRTHDAY MACCA, he heard this and gestured towards me, with a nod of his head and finger to his lips as if to say don't remind me lolllllllllllllllll brilliant!!! another was when I started a chant of PAUL McCARTNEY, PAUL McCARTNEY.... and the crowd at the front joined in....even got the cameraman to take a photo of us, priceless moments at a priceless concert.

Were we at the same Hampden Park? I thought The Long and Winding Road sounded very honest and real. I captured most of the song from where I was stood in AA7 (i'll upload it later tonight) and having just played it back, he sounded absolutely fine to me. This thing about Macca losing his pipes is getting to be a cliché now. When he's on, he's on and I hope a few more boardies can back me up on this because i'm forever deflecting criticism from ignorant work colleagues on this subject about his vocal prowess. Cut the guy some slack, he still sounds great when he's given his voice a rest between shows. Keep going Macca!

Yep, I agree wholeheartedly about the vocals. My sister is constantly saying he is losing his voice, but the two performances she happens to have seen are the X Factor performance, and last week's Isle of Wight, both of where his voice wasn't at its best. He was on top form at Hampden, and still is imo, the majority of the time.

When I left after the show I looked for a plane or helicopter in the sky to see if it be Paul & Nancy leaving for his farm.

I'm off to The Kintyre Peninsula in September on a car tour. I don't suppose you can stumble upon the farm. We don't have much time to look around as we have a route to follow as part of our car tour but it would be interesting to see where the farm is. Wish I was able to take in another concert but funds are low so all you lucky people who are heading south have a great time.

Great reviews! Keep them coming. As for his voice maybe I was amazed he could still do Maybe I'm Amazed as late as the 2002 tour. The most difficulty song I have heard him sing was Jenny Wren in Atlanta in 2005, it was painful to listen to but other than that, everyting in 05 and 09 that I heard came off very well. Looking forward to Charlotte and Toronto.

Lazy, I was wondering how long it would be before you got back to your negativity. Really I dont know why you bother with Macca anymore, your vibes are always negative!
