From Twitter back in June from Giles Martin Giles Martin @mashupmartin 6 Jun You'd think once having been named "chief producer" I'd gain some respect. Then this appeared on the mix desk... http://t.co/64YownUk9I
Is that Paul's studio?
Yep looks like Hog Hill.
Exactly. The decor, the walls...

21st Century Paul:
It may be obvious too but it's hardly talked about too... I mean there are 2 songs that could appear in Paul's next album that Paul has already "showed to the world", Meat Free Monday and Petrushka. If not on the album maybe in a deluxe edition or so with extra tracks or as B-sides, etc. Paul already recorded a version of Meat Free Monday avalaible to download, that could be on the record. I prefer his original acoustic version to the one recorded at the studio. Maybe Paul records a third version and the song gets into the album. And then, Petrushka, he plays it often in soundchecks, and sometimes live, so Paul is already playing new stuff, but we can't know if it is new stuff that will be on the new album until we know the new album tracks, of course. Petrushka, live in London 2010
Meat Free Monday, kind of live 2009Buddy, Meat Free Monday and Petrushka? They're throwaways. Piffle, nothing more... If, after working on an album of new material, with these hot shot producers, it finally drops and one or both of these ditties are on it... Well...it's career over Paul McCartney.

?q%5Bfulltext%5D=mariella+fassanaro A link to an interview from May- prior to the Brazilian dates. Paul mentions that the 'Out There' tour name stems from one of the lyrics to the new songs and also that he had just started playing the album to friends and staff. He talks about the four producers and says Giles is very good at 'pulling projects together' -
Bob Gannon:
I would doubt Meat Free Monday will be involved at all with the album or Petrushka. Both are alright but there seems like a wealth of material from this over a year and almost a half of recording. If the album is coming in October, than the single should be anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks in front of it. Personally I can't wait for it!! Petrushka is more of an ad libbed song...great during soundcheck..I agree but I don't think an album track. I'm hoping for a very big release this time...with all of the secrecy around it, something has to be up
well if Meat Free Monday and Petrushka are kind of outtakes, some of the ones that don't make it to the album then the album is gonna be fantastic

He talks about the four producers and says Giles is very good at 'pulling projects together'Wow, great find! I had no idea he was talking so specifically about the album back in May. She asks a few other unusual questions which are kind of fun, like how can he do an entire concert without taking a drink of water? (I never noticed that, but come to think of it, I used to perform here and there, and sometimes taking a drink of anything in the middle of singing can cause you to belch, which is a little awkward.) Adele keeps getting mentioned, so maybe we should be thinking in those terms, at least for a few of the tracks. Two of the producers on Paul's album have produced her in the past. He sounds confident in the interview that they would eventually be playing the "everybody out there" song live, so that's a nice tidbit.

21st Century, Those two tracks have no bearing on what this album will be. The Petrushka song is strictly soundcheck fun and has been around since 2009 at least. The Meat Free Monday is also an older song and not a strong one by any means. You may be the only person I've ever seen that raves about that song. The song base for this album started last year. If either of those two were included on the new album, I would expect it to be a failure. Those are not strong songs to include on any album except a collection of outtakes and demos set. The one thing I find encouraging is that the radio listening party of the five new songs to gauge reaction from the jocks might tip off that it is strong if they really believe that they have at least 5 singles coming from this album.. we will know soon enough!! I do find the amount of secrecy on this release very interesting as well. Those who were at the listening party give no detailed accounts and were given a gag order. Fingers crossed

That was a good one. I remember this back in May but I guess I wasn't listening carefully enough as I missed the new album part last time or I heard an edited version

Odd though that prior to the Out There tour he suggests he'd do the song with those words, and still hasn't. Maybe in Las Vegas?

i will believe it when i hear it...
Same here. I havn't forgotten how 'Off The Ground' was being described before its release as being "Paul's best album since the 'white album!" yeah, right :
When someone says...."his best album in years"...who knows what that could mean? Could be his best since Chaos. I mean that one was released years and years ago. That kind of statement means next to nothing. If I heard his album I would be giving specifics!! I would never just say...best in years. Please.

Of course it will be his best album in years. It's the first one in years (KOTB not counted as a regular album)!

Well I don't think Meat Free Monday or Petrushka are as good as Hey Jude or so but I think they're "album material", they're better than many songs on Paul's albums, better than many on Chaos and on MAF. The Meat Free Monday song has over 100000 views on youtube, that is quite a lot for a McCartney song never released on an album. The songs from MAF don't have many more listens...

You weren't seriously considering them to be album contenders were you?

Petrushka is fun but more in the vein of besame mucho. Kind of a ruski pastiche and probably would fit in a live album maybe. Regarding new album it might probably be a good one and that doesn't surprise. He's been doing good music all his life with some failures in between. But I find amazing that we can still enjoy new creations from him so regularly at his age. Just this century has released so much great music, including rock, jazz, classical, experimental, etc. chaos and creation definitely does for me. I find it has been his record of the first decade of the century. Driving rain is also great so it's electric arguments and MAF also good. In general everything good. I don't care if he is number 1 or not. Good for him if he gets another #1. For me what is relevant is that his music is at the level of his legacy and that endures for years and years . What I mean , "imagine" was not #1 and ... So what .. Probably has sold more records in the long run and has helped to build the human and music figure of Lennon. What is a luxury is to have Macca still doing good music and trying hard and touring and developing different projects being 70 years old! He's still doing history! Where will be Justin Bieber or all those" at forty! This man is really an artist .. And also a hard worker! By the way , is probably one of the few that still do personally his check sounds at concerts and extremely well respected by the people working for the show business.

Well, not Meat Free Monday the way Paul recorded it but yes if it was recorded in a different way. And yes for Petrushka, why not? I admit both lyrics are a bit strange. It's not easy writing a song about not eating meat, I can tell you . And Petrushka seems like a joke, but well, Get Back lyrics seem like some kind of joke and they worked anyway. He's Paul McCartney, he's supposed to put some humour into his music... though many don't like it. And a "pop" version of Celebration wouldn't be a surprise, Paul plays it at the piano with the band a lot in soundchecks. Nod Your Head is some kind of joke too and it became the 3rd single of MAF . Now that was a surprise for me, Nod Your Head instead of Only Mama Knows, House Of Wax, End Of The End...
-
wow, you surprise me again...Meat Free Monday is a trite unimpressive song. Not album material no matter how you record it. Petrushka is the same vein, maybe a live album but this album would be a total flop if it is counting on those two songs. The worst songs on Chaos are not as bad as either one of those. Your opinion, while I respect that you have one is among a very small percentage of his fans. Just about everyone I know or have talked to cringe when hearing meat free monday!!! And although I enjoy Petrushka in the soundcheck experience, It by no means is an album track. I'm glad you like it so much but I think you're one of a very few that would like a recorded version of it
-
Each to his own but i feel safe in predicting neither of those will be on the new album. Apart from anything else a studio full length Meat Free Monday was available as a free download to those who signed up to the site

I love Petrushka . It is a really cool song, I like the Russian sound and story. (still wondering how the poor girl is doing digging potatoes all alone in Russia. ) It is short and sweet and reminds me of Her Majesty in a way. As both are little songs that go a long way. jmo. But as Paul has stated that Petrushka, 'did not work out.' Hence, I suppose the use of the Petrushka idea for the ballet in NYC...so I doubt he would put it on an album. I think I read somewhere a babushka is a word for a Russian elderly woman, a grandmother. or a scarf for the head folded in a triangular pattern. * or maybe the babushka nesting dolls. I love those dolls. I used to have a set.

yankeefan, If I remember Come and Get it was a #2 in UK. I was so excited to see it make the list. Was disappointed by the reaction as well
This says #4 in the UK and #7 in the U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_and_Get_It_(Badfinger_song)
I never did like badfinger...so I didn't care for it.
-
ok Nancy, I stand corrected....I was shooting from the hip on the #2 status but hell #4 wasn't far off.

You do have a point about "Nod Your Head"... but I think "Crossroads Theme" was a better joke!
