Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

I consider EA a "proper" Paul album with Paul songs. Somebody said they don't really consider it a Paul album.

I said that. I stick by it. Making up so-called "songs" in the studio and recording them in a week is hardly to be considered a "proper" album. It's obvious touring has taken the place of making real albums. He now records between touring which is nominal time, which means it takes forever to get an album done. Sadly.
-
he wrote the lyrics and melodies with collaboration from Youth on EA. So I consider them Paul songs, some are co-written although improvised or off the cuff, sort of
-
Fireman albums are not proper Paul albums, they are Fireman albums. Which I look at as like another band; Paul and Youth. They are collaboration albums. Paul singing makes his input stand out in front on the project, but the creation is a collaborative effort. And pretty cool I might add! But I don't consider them Paul solo albums per se.
-
I would consider Fireman stuff more Paul songs than Kisses on the Bottom. Those were covers with 2 Paul originals.

So, is "With The Beatles" not to be considered a proper Beatles album since 8 of the 14 songs are cover versions? In my book, whether the artist wrote the songs or not, if they recorded the vocals its a proper album.
-
I consider EA at least as proper as "Driving Rain", to be honest. When DR came out, Paul admitted that he "didn't sweat the lyrics too much" and when EA came out he said he was very close to branding it as Paul McCartney instead of The Fireman, since there was so much more conventional structure to the songs. Compare "Sing The Changes" to "Rinse The Raindrops", or "Highway" to "Lonely Road"?I don't really see much difference.

Spot on! Likewise Please Please Me? Not a "proper" album because there were heaps of covers and it was recorded in what, something like 20 hours? Sheeesh...

Six years between studio albums (if the new one comes out this year!) will be easily the longest gap. Previously four between Driving Rain and Chaos.
6 years between studio albums? I could have sworn KOTB was more recent than that! It may not be your cup of tea, but it is a studio album.
I don't consider KOTB nor Electric Arguments "proper" studio albums in the tradition of writing and recording "proper" material. Like I said, albums don't make money, nowadays, touring does. Putting in the effort to write and record the traditional way just doesn't pay off, or else we would have had several albums in the last six years, just like it used to be.
By that theory Let It Be isn't a "proper" studio album either.

By this standard Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra never recorded "proper" albums. Rubbish.

Moptops, Good catch....Please Please Me was actually the album I meant.

Bah, I came to this thread expecting a news development. It's been 6 years since Paul's last album which was Memory Almost Full. Electric Arguments was The Fireman and Kisses goes into the same category as Choba, Run Devil Run and Unplugged. So there, you heard it.

I meant they are Paul's songs while covers are not. : sheeeesh.. I was actually responding to Kapoo

I consider EA and KOTB and GENYC and OK all Paul albums, none are mainstream studio albums though. Paul's' last mainstream studio album was Memory Almost Full in the Summer of 2007 a full 6 years ago now. I thought that was obvious.
-
At the same time, I don't quite consider Give My Regards To Broadstreet a genuine McCartney album.
-
Yeah that's a Soundtrack album. By my reckoning of course.

Think I may have started this 'longest gap' thread. I should have been clearer. I was meaning longest gap between studio pop/rock albums. The classical albums, live albums, ballet albums and Fireman albums are great additions but I think that what most fans like are the studio albums. And this six year gap since MAF has seemed like longer - and bearing in mind that much of MAF was written and recorded before Chaos. Perhaps the various comments that there is less money in new albums than touring is the reason rather than rumours of unhappiness with his vocals or lack of songs. At the end of the day he can't be short of a few £'s )
