Paul Collaborating with Kanye West

I think this collaboration has been great PR for Macca, especially with the younger and non Paul demographics, reaffirming that he is constantly looking for new challenges etc, besides the staged "who is Paul" hoo haa I am yet to see a bad remark about Paul's age or that he is washed up, it all seems to be about respect from what I have seen

Consequence of Sound is now reporting that Kanye's upcoming album is entirely co-produced by Paul... http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/01/kanye-wests-new-album-is-entirely-co-produced-by-paul-mccartney/ Interesting update

Here are my most recent thoughts on this... I've had a major shift. The news of this collaboration made me extremely skeptical and apprehensive; however both released songs have surpassed my expectations and even expanded my respect for the people Paul has been working with. As fans of an extremely diverse, experimental, and relentless artist like Paul, he inevitably takes us with him to new places at every turn. If there's one thing this collaboration has taught me, it's the realization that Paul's legacy is unbreakable at this point. Think about it: if he does something bad, it'll be forgotten once he's dead. Plus, as things stand, they mostly only focus on his past anyway. But if it succeeds, he'll be able to stake a rare claim in pop relevance as a septuagenarian. He seems to have reached that existential conclusion too - and embraced it, which likely keeps him as experimental as ever with nothing to lose and everything to gain. It's a magical thing and it has made me more excited about his future than at any time since just after the breakup of both his bands...

It would appear he's really jumped (hopped) into the deep end. Oh well, I don't have any of his classical forays either.

Well said, Mr. Spock, though apparently someone official is now denying Paul co-produced the whole album. We'll just have to see, I guess. Meanwhile, "Only One" is at least a modest radio hit and may become more than that. It's now #31 on the Mediabase Rhythmic airplay chart and #40 on Urban, up 13 and 9 spots from a week ago, respectively, picking up spins at a very solid clip. That's probably not enough to move it back up the Hot 100 yet as sales have dropped off, but the thing seems to be gaining momentum.
