Giving a first listen to the advance promos to Wings at the Speed of Sound and Venus and Mars. Won't get a chance to check out the video until later tonight but wanted to share my thoughts about the bonus audio material on both disks. The albums themselves we are all familiar with and have been given the sonic upgrade that the others have received. We'll start with Wings at the Speed of Sound 01. Silly Love Songs (Demo) 2:46 - a simple piano demo with Paul singing and Linda doing backing vocals. I love stripped down versions 02. My Baby (Demo) 3:47 - once again a simple piano demo with vocal 03. Message to Joe :24 - just Paul talking using an electronic vocal effect 04. Beware My Love (Jon Bonham version) 5:35 - WOW!!! Besides the different drummer....it sounds different!! A fun different vocal take.. a lot more instrumental breaks 05. Must Do Something About It (Demo) 3:37 - This came out a couple of years when a bunch of material was leaked on the net but this is a much better sounding version. Not sure if this is the same take used on the bootleg but I like it! 06. Let Em' In (Demo) 4:18 - Another piano demo. A little sped up. Very fun as Paul scats the drum parts. I assume it's Denny Laine singing backing vocals 07. Warm and Beautiful (instrumental) 1:30 - I always though this was a very sweet song. Sounds like electric piano. Nice, but I prefer it with the vocal Venus and Mars Bonus Audio 01. Junior's Farm 4:24 - Sounds really nice with sonic upgrade! Much sharper sound...enjoying this song even more! 02. Sally G 3:41 - Nothing new here but always liked this cheeky song. And of course with the sonic upgrades we're now able to hear some of the little nuances that you can't hear in the old version 03. Walking in the Park with Eloise 3:09 - another one that's been around but the sound much nicer 04. Bridge on the River Suite 3:11 - Another one that's been around but a welcome sonic upgrade 05. My Carnival 3:59 - a b-side but again with the sonic upgrade you can hear a lot of the chatter at the beginning of the song much better 06. Going to New Orleans (My Carnival) 2:07 - Paul delivering a Nola style vocal complete with whistle 07. Hey Diddle (Ernie Winfrey Mix) 3:51 - sounds dreamy! 08. Let's Love 2:05 - A song that Paul gave to Peggy Lee and has been available in much rougher condition on bootlegs for sometime but here, a very clean, crisp piano vocal and piano demo. Impossible to not like! 09. Soily (From One Hand Clapping) 3:57 - Rocking!!!! Sounds amazing!! 10. Baby Face (From One Hand Clapping) 1:42 - Paul on piano giving a very nice vocal of the classic which we've heard bits and pieces in soundchecks and concerts for some time 11. Lunch Box/Odd Sox 3:55 - Another b-side that's been around for awhile 12. 4th of July 3:49 - A song given to John Christie..never liked that version as I found it a little drab but always wanted to hear what Paul would have done with it. Basically sang the same way (no surprise as this is the guide track) but I like it much simpler with just Paul and an acoustic guitar...This may be my favorite on the set! 13. Rock Show (old Version) 7:09 - A little stripped down but still rocking! Without the Venus and Mars intro. I like Paul's vocal on it. Extended vocal with Paul screaming..Me thinks the girls will really like this one! It fades off with Paul saying "Rock Show, I got tickets!" 14. Letting Go (single edit)- great song and even better with the sonic upgrade..single edit

I'm very happy with the bonus audio....getting ready to check out the DVD's soon tonight. I think folks will be very happy with the disks...they sound great...great choice of bonus tracks. Of course, I wish there were more (as we always do) but very good. Can't wait to get the box

DVD Video thoughts...just watched them Hey Gang, Watching the DVD's now that I'm home and here are my thoughts. Start with Venus and Mars 01. Recording My Carnival (3:04)- Paul, Linda and Wings recording backing vocals in the studio with Denny playing stand up bass. Pretty fun to watch Paul as he is energized and dancing and fooling around. 02. Bon Voyageur (8:19)- Footage of it looks to be a press conference held on a New Orleans River Boat. Paul & Linda pull up in a limo and exit with top hats and Mardi Gras umbrella. They then show footage of being interviewed and asked where did he see the paradee says "We went down to Charles St". He's then asked "How were you masked?" Paul answers "clowns". They then break into rare photos of Paul & Linda dressed in their clown costumes watching the parade. They then go back to Riverboat footage of the press asking questions and the ensuing party. Boat's name is "Voyageur" 03. Elstree Rehearsals (13:02)footage of Wings rehearsing the Venus and Mars album preparing to tour 04. Venus and MArs TV ad- the TV commercial that we've seen with Paul and band shooting pool Wings at the Speed of Sound DVD 01. Silly Love Songs Music Video- speaks for itself 02. Wings Over Wembley (13:22)- Random footage from the 3 night stand at Wembley Stadium of Paul and band arriving, sound check, concert, press conferences and audience footage 03. Wings in Venice (3:10)- footage of Paul and band taking a Gondola ride and footage of the crowd gathering at the venue while crew prepare for the show All in All it's nice but I wish there was more...seems a little thin probably because they are so short and not complete but worth seeing. Not too sure it's something that I'll need to see multiple times

Advance copies are generally reserved for radio and print media that might be playing the music on thier shows or reviewing the set for magazines. Luckily I have quite a few friends that get them and if an extra copy shows up, I sometimes get one. Also, they have already started showing up on Ebay for sale..expensive but for someone who wants them bad enough, they can get tem

_______________________________________________________________________________ Thnks so much Bob. You have me really looking forward to getting this. I was glad that they have included Baby Face and Soily from One Hand Clapping. Is Let's Love also from One Hand Clapping. I kind of remember Paul doing Let's Love. I always thought Paul's vocals were so good on "One Hand Clapping" and I loved his cover on Baby Face. It will be so great to have audio versions of these. It's a shame that they didn't include the full version of "Suicide" from the same show. I was really disappointed with the shortened version of Suicide on one of the earlier Remasters (I think it was the Ram remaster). I thought it was really terrible. Anyway, at least we will get complete songs here. Bob, did you get the new booklets that will come with V&M and Speed of Sound? i think all of us are interested if they list future REMASTERS in these new packages They previously did list future Remasters. i am curious what is next... Tug of War / Pipes of Peace Londontown / Back to the Egg Anything listed??

Let's Love is not from One Hand Clapping...this is the proper piano demo of the song. Very clean and crisp. Baby Face and Soiley are both keepers for sure. Alternate versions of Beware my Love and Rockshow will delight as well. I love the simple version of 4th of July as well. Bonus tracks were really well chosen. Of course I wish there were more but let's face it...they could give 20 songs an album and we'd want more. The promo disks come in a tri-fold cd cover which houses the album disk, bonus audio disk and video content. No books or pamphlets are included and generally are not in these versions. These are generally only used for radio/print reviews of upcoming releases so they don't go crazy with including a lot. Still so many boxed sets to go and still coming out at a snail's pace!

4th of July was a song Paul gave to John Christie who recorded it. Never really liked his version. Not that it's all that different but I thought over produced. This is a sparse demo with Paul and an acoustic guitar. I thought it played much nicer this way!

Disappointed Linda's 'New Orleans' didn't make the Venus and Mars bonus tracks. Relatively few people will have heard this, and it's such a great song.
