A big hug for Paul
-
I only joined this forum to offer my two cents about all the hoopla about Paul McCartney's private life. It just doesn't matter. Paul McCartney was a Beatle, and that cuts him tremendous slack as far as any criticism. The Beatles gave the entire world a great gift in their music, presence, humor, and inspiration for cultural change. Nothing can change or diminish that. Paul McCartney hasn't lied a nation into war, bombed civilians, tortured people, spread depleted uranium into the atmosphere, or enabled terrorist attacks. He hasn't ensured that global warming will wreck our children's future, given corporations free rein to poison the atmosphere, or been gleefully incompetent in the face of natural disasters. For Paul, unfortunately, having given the great gift that he and his mates have over the years has a bitter price. Though sometimes it may seem not to have been worth it, I believe he would still do it over again. I went to India in the '70s, and at the ashram where I was staying, I had a numerology reading. The person doing the reading was British, and I told him my inspiration for pursuing meditation and spirituality was the Beatles. He said, "Well, they're avatars." I was a bit taken aback at this pronouncement, but he explained that they brought a message of love to the entire planet, that their music is all about love, and that it was a world-changing influence. I agreed, and still do. I know that my life, and the lives of many others would be much less enriched and encouraged if the Beatles had never appeared on the world scene. Paul's individual contributions have been immense, both within the Beatles and afterwards. His advocacy for vegetarian diet and humane treatment of animals, as well as for peace and living lightly on the Earth, have been of great influence and importance, helping to keep these issues from fading or being marginalized. He's a decent guy, too, good natured, funny, giving, light-hearted, and compassionate. So to all I say cheer up. This is not a big deal. It's only embarrassing in terms of social convention, and Paul McCartney is no stranger to transcending social convention. Now, if there is a Hell, you just might for lying a country into attacking a defenseless nation....

When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be............... Let it be, Paul. Big hug for you. Els

a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, dear Paul. I know this is a hard time to try and celebrate...but do so anyway....laughter is the best medicine for anything..and a grand party is even better. To you and Heather I wish the best..I know it is hard for you both to be written up in every magazine, and newspaper in the world. It is sad you cannot have your privacy you need during this time.. But take your time both you and Heather..make sure you are doing what is right for the both of you, and your family, especially little Beatrice. I have a two year old grandson, and he would be devastated if he lost his mommy or his daddy..but tht is life today, isnt it? You and your family are in my prayers always. A friend who is there even though you do not see her.
