Alligator

I love Alligator Especially this part of song: Everybody seems to know what they are talkin' about And I can see why it is They got someone breaking them out Someone finding the key Someone setting them free Could you be that person for me? Would you feel right setting me free? Could you dare to find my key? //Sorry Bad English

Your English is fine! Where are you from?

The sleeve notes list a ?play-me-a-song book? amongst the instruments Macca plays on here. Any ideas??

Ever since first hearing this song, it's been driving me crazy, but when he sings that "sweet communicator I can give my alligator to" line, the way he sings "to" reminds me so much of another song of his, I think from the '70s, but I can't place it. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

^^ I am thinking what it could be? It does remind me of another song...hmmm. Will think on it.

Yes! I noticed it right away!

You two have me thinking away. But nothing is grabbing right now. I presume the word "to" is at the forefront of the comparison?

Yes, exactly. For a minute I thought it was in "Junior's Farm" but that's not the one.

I'll keep trying... you've really set an objective here! 70's, yeah?

It might be something from "Red Rose Speedway" ?

Feels like '70s, but I may be wrong. "Red Rose Speedway" doesn't seem to be the album, from what I can think.

Hey, I think that's it! So Susy was kind of right after all! "Red Rose" B-side / bonus track. That would be the "big tattoo" line, then. I won't rule out the possibility that there's another one (or more) out there, but that's definitely one! Thanks!

I'm not "feeling" the comparison to The Mess... although it did compel me to check out that live version with all the girls up and dancing.... so 70's.... Wild Life has a multitude of 'to's'.... but that is a long bow too. It's got me stumped.

So far, I can't come up with anything closer. "Titanium too" doesn't really do it, nor does "what's gonna happen to"/"whatever happened to".

Perhaps it is something that slipped into the 80's?... At any rate, it does present as a challenge.

Ha, how about this?! "The artful dodger says he wants to pick a pocket or TWO." - No Values (1984)

Heard a new song today and I couldn't figure out why I liked it. Then it hit me. It's a young version of "Alligator" with a little bit of rap/hip hop mixed in. It's kinda got a little bit of "Appreciate" mixed in too. What does everyone else think? The song is called "Stressed Out" by twenty one pilots off of their 'Blurryface' album.
