FourFiveSeconds- new collab. with Rihanna, Kanye and Paul
-
marbelmo:
Kanye is an embarrassment. I'm disappointed in Paul's judgment on this collaboration. Paul needs to distance himself from the Kanye Kardashian bubble. Paul, you don't need to do this to stay relevant.
Thanks, but I'll do what I want. Love, Paul

Not going to wade all this TMZ-influenced bull on one of the most critically acclaimed artists of the last 25 years, so on topic of this song: Abroad, so only now found time to listen to this jam on proper headphones: McCartney is singing harmonies during the last chorus. Left channel. If you don't hear it, try listen closely to the word "three" in the second line, it's a longer note than the others. Then on the "monDAY" he's coming out clearly too. And the most obvious, the quick "hmmmm" after Rihanna's "tell me" at 2:45.

I just got this whole thing...people complain if Paul sings...people complain if Paul doesn't sing....soooo Paul sang on medium volume and so he's singing yet not singing... everyone should be pleased!! We are all listening to this song over and over...and in my case, like/loving it more on each listen. Final result, the most amount of people SHOULD BE happy! Well Done! Soon there will be a new song, and we get to do this again! NEXXXXXT

Paul hasnt been a sideman in a band since John was leading the Beatles. It was wierd watching Paul on the side like that on the stage last night.

I'm curious how Paul is ok with his recent collaborator's unapologetic approach to wearing fur? I've heard Kanye say something along the lines that he could care less about animals and I highly doubt the Kardashians trouble themselves with such trivialities like animal abuse and cruelty.
Never mind wearing fur. How about his unapologetic approach to acting like an ass?

I wondered what Mr. McCartney and his wife thought of Kanye doing that to Beck on Sunday.

Paul should collaborate with Beck & Tyler Swift!

I know. Up to last night, I was quite on the fence about Paul working with West. But now I have to wonder, just how is this advancing Paul McCartney in the music world or music business? He'd be better off working with Jeff Lynne!

Or Jeff Lynne. ANYONE else!!

In any case, the song is now #2 on iTunes and moved up to #16 on the Mediabase Top 40 airplay chart and also charting in several other radio formats. It's a cinch to be top 10 in the Hot 100 coming out later this week.

Kanye may be an opinionated a**hole, but Beck isn't offended: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/beck-responds-to-kanye-grammy-diss-i-thought-beyonce-was-going-to-win-20150209

That is impressive.

Or Jeff Lynne!
They both like orchestration, was thinking something like the Time album...meets the Fireman of the future... you saw that fire video at the Grammys... It could be like spontaneous combustion!!

There's a very strong Ken Ehrlich influence in music these days. For those who don't know who he is, he produces the Grammy Awards show. It was his idea to put together all these random teamings and pairings on the Grammys' in recent years. These in turn have lead to collaborations in the studio such as Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga and other duets albums of recent years, and the Paul, Rihanna, Kanye teaming. I thought it was well done, a good song and excellent performance, and even Kanye didn't ruin it. I really enjoyed it, and in case anyone here really missed it, all eyes in the Staples Center were on Paul.

Anyone who would write that Paul was just standing there sharing the spotlight with Rihanna and Kanye for no apparent reason either doesn't like Macca or doesn't know music... Probably more the former.
I'm afraid that i'm one of those. Though i love Paul to bits and i am a classical musician, I can't help but asking "why ..why?" This appearance won't help the sales of, say, NEW (and i think he couldn't care less) It won't gain him any new fan The song is not a masterpiece worth exposing himself so much The only positive thing i find is that he abviously had a great time there and was in great shape. But i really hope he turns this page quickly :

Well, the NEW publicity machine is definitely shut down for good now anyway, other than playing the songs in concert. His focus is clearly on "Hope For The Future" and these collaborations. Soon enough, the page will turn, however, as the High In The Clouds soundtrack comes out later this year, with Lady Gaga. Or is that part of the same page?
-
a sort of Lady Gaga may be a good collaboration and hope for the future not my cup of tea but a good job. Far from his average standard though .. but way better than these two collaborations with West and Rihanna
-
I get the whole "having a young artist perform with a veteran artist" trip. It never jelled for me. At least Ed Sheeran performed an ELO song with ELO. At least Lady Gaga performed in Tony Bennett's genre and dressed the part and sang the part. There is a certain respect for their predecessors in this. But Paul entering into Kanye's world and making a go of it just looks silly. Especially when Kanye makes an ass of himself dissing Beck. Then, I ask myself as well, "Why, Paul? Why associate yourself with this jerk?" Never mind all the crotch grabbing and lame dancing. Yes, Michael Jackson grabbed his crotch, but he was also the best dancer on the planet, could sing the hell out of a song, even surpass Paul vocally at some turns, and could write amazing songs. And Paul was West's back up musician to boot. If he must do this sort of thing, have Paul and his band play a new McCartney song, then have West join them onstage for something.

Hold your breath for a Gaga/McCartney performance at 2016 Grammys!

Beck handled it graciously, with humility and dignity. Which just proved West wrong even more. West is a jerk. No defense from you is going to change that. He proves it over and over again.
