Ok, I will give it a shot. How about McCartney get "funky" and do some jazz with George Benson.
Paul McCartney, George Benson, Al Jarreau
Cool, I didn't know about this!!
This totally missed my radar! Super cool!
Paul "moonlighting" with Al Jarreau.... still Bruce Willis' best work. Well, season one at least. And a great theme song.

I want to chime in again with some thoughts, but mostly echoing what others have already expressed so well. Firstly, I think Only One is a lovely song. Fantastic. But I find it sad that a lot of the attention is not on the song, but on what I might call, the peripheral issues. As to the question of collaboration, I think it's a completely inane non-issue. Paul co-wrote the song, he plays the ONLY instrument heard on the track(although someone else is co-credited with helping out on keyboards, too). I find it very narrow-minded to suggest that you have to hear Paul's voice front and centre to qualify as a collaboration. In fact, I'm relieved that it's not the typical A-list type of musical collaboration that's become so cliched over the years: huge, over-the-top productions with the singers belting out alternating lyrics, stroking their superstar egos. I think it's wonderful that Kanye and Paul put the song first, ahead of their egos. It's a gentle ballad, and it doesn't call for big superstar posturing. I also greatly admire the audacity of the arrangement. The minimalist approach isn't exactly "hit song" commercialism. People who are baffled that the song sounds unfinished or like a demo are missing the brilliance of it. The "meandering" outro gives it an intimacy and warmth.....like we are privy to a personal moment. Great stuff. I'll add that I'm a Paul fan first and a casual Kanye fan second. I greatly admire his work, but I admit that it's not easy separating the guy from the music. His d-bag antics make me roll my eyes (but I cheered him on for his Katrina stand). But as someone else wisely pointed out with examples of bad boy actors, talented people are not always the most well behaved people. I'm glad that Paul is working with someone who is at the top of their talents. Others have suggested other collaborators, but most of them I find are artists way beyond their peak talents. I don't want Paul to mix it up with artists who are not "on". Sure, I would love for Paul to have worked with Prince, for example......but only if it was Prince in 1984 at his creative peak. That said, I'm still nervous for what's coming next from this latest collaboration. The rumoured track with Rihanna and Kanye sounds like it's up next. The potential for something cringe-worthy still remains for me, but I hope whatever it is next builds on the success of Only One. I hope Paul fans are celebrating these special days! This is the dawn of his first top 10 hit (maybe #1?) in a million years
Seriously, this is all really well said. And I have to agree: The one track I'm nervous about is this rumored track that involves Rihanna. Kanye is a major artistic talent. She ain't. And yes, the cringeworthy potential is high on this one. I'd be shocked if any of these tracks are top 10 hits. Kanye is not a singles artist and he's near 40 years old. He's not popular with the kids/teens who put songs in the top 10. But I don't really care about the hits aspect. I just want Paul to be involved in a critically praised project.

Are you saying that Paul co-wrote the Moonlighting theme? That's a great tune.

I don't think that's what toris meant. It was just a play on words (but correct me if I'm wrong toris)

Yeah, just a play on words. Jarreau wrote the lyrics for Moonlighting and sung the theme.

Most in-need of college music classes: Kanye West's fans. They credit the rapper with discovering this little-known Beatle named Paul McCartney. West and Sir Paul collaborated on the tune Only One. Nice of West to choose to work with newcomers like McCartney. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2015/01/10/superlatives-madonna-brad-pitt-david-oyelowo-heidi-klum-zoe-saldana-kanye-west-paul-mccartney/21291417/

Kanye's fans were joking. I thought we had established that. The great majority of them know who Paul is.

That's pretty good. I have a nephew who thinks anything older than about 2005 is crap, and I have a friend from high school days who thinks good music didn't really start till about 1975. All our experiences are different. It's pointless to shame people about it.

I disagree. There are many inaccuracies. And...EVERYONE should know of The Beatles. Seriously. No matter what kind of music you listen to or what side of the tracks you come from.

In actuality, I think just about everyone does know about them, even my nephew, since we've exposed him to them many times. I just don't think it's worth getting upset about the tiny fraction of people who don't know them. The tradition is in no danger, as far as I can see.

There are three acts who remain virtually known all over the planet: -Elvis -The Beatles -Michael Jackson Even if specific Beatles songs might be a vague recollection for a lot of kids, young people generally know who the band is, and that they are historically important. And there are millions of kids who know every song The Beatles ever recorded.

"Only One" actually falls from #35 to #54 this week on the Hot 100, its second week.

I will tell you a cute little story. My oldest daughter is a dance teacher and picked the song "Eleanor Rigby" for one of her dance recital classes last year. The children were between the age of 11-13 in the class. She picked a totally instrumental version of the song and started teaching the class the dance for the recital. She then asked all of the young ladies if they knew the song and all of them knew it was a Beatle song although only 2-3 knew the actually name of the song. BTW - the young ladies loved the music for their dance and so did their parents - lol.
