The "Paul Forgot The Lyrics" Thread
-
We all get a chuckle -- sometimes even Paulie himself -- whenever he flubs a line here n' there. But this is a really, really, really bad one (God bless him): C'MON PEOPLE, Chile 1993:
It's at 01:15. Hey. It happens. -
As every year passes now, it'll become more frequent as well.

Ouch!
-
Ouch, indeed.

this one is one of his biggest oops. liverpool, mrs lennon and harrison watching, hometown crowd, singing one of johns classics and he forgets the words....ouch! the funny thing was that he got the lennon words spot on and couldnt remember the bit he wrote himself!

I remember fans griping about that one last year. At least he got John's part OK. He was probably working so hard to memorize it that he might've neglected his own segment of the song.

This one has become a classic: WE CAN WORK IT OUT, Unplugged 1991:
-
He is miming this one, but look at 0:53..

I find that whole thing quite ironic really, because back in the sixties Paul was often times helping John remember lyrics. One of my favourite examples of this is their summer of 1964 appearance on Shindig performing 'I'm A Loser.'

Are you referring to 01:47?

Yeah and there was an earlier example as well. 1:14 or thereabouts. Of course, there are moments where we don't see Paul - during the close-ups of John - and I'd be willing to bet, Paul's helping out then as well.

Don't know if there is a video of this...but on 7/21 at citi field, during I Saw her Standing There, he started to go into the solo when it was really a verse

I'd rather see a Macca concert fraught with errors than a 100% lip-synched Shitney Smears concert anytime.

I don't have a You Tube link but I saw him many of his concerts in 1989/1990 and more often than not, he'd flub the lyrics to My Brave Face. I don't think he used a teleprompter in those days, unlike now - you would think it would be easier to get the words right these days but he still messes them up LOL. However, these are the little things that make it interesting and as Paul has said when he makes a mistake at a show, at least you know we're playing live! )

Now that's interesting. In The Put It There home-video I remember laughing when Paul and Hamish messed each other up during a rehearsal of "Figure Of Eight." The line when they sing in unison: "You got me runnin' ... don't know whether I'm comin' or goin'." I think one sang ''goin' and comin'" and the other sang ''comin' and goin'." It was funny moment between the two of them.

My Brave Face has a looooot of words....I'm sure he messed them up quite a bit!
-
Yes, he did. It was sort of endearing, actually.
