TO MANY FREE GIGS IN USA!!
-
Hope he hits there too, Martinez...and Honolulu, which would be fun to experience vicariously. He needs to warm up Alaska with his hotness but they've no big cities, have they? Why wouldn't he make pots of pennies in Oz with all their big cities and avid Aussie music fans? It's been mentioned other big acts tour there. I don't get why he couldn't cash in bigtime there too-- why was that said?

RMartinez:
IWhatever. Maybe Paul will play Australia in 2014. And New Mexico too.
I tend to agree.

The free gigs were not close enough for most Americans to even attempt to attend. I live in the Midwest and I might as well live in Australia when it comes through stuff like this.

Yeah, 316,802,900 of us did not make it to the free show at Times Square.

At least that many of us.....

Hmmmmm.... let's see. Paul did TWO free shows in USA recently, one he played FOUR songs. THAT's too many??? :

One supposes he didn't charge the teens at the Frank Sinatra arts high school

But that wasn't a show anyone could attend, right? FREE show means anyone can attend if they can get there.

I would venture to say that his daughter plays a role in this...he lives in new york and england, while australia is about a 22 hour flight away from either the UK or NYC

Good point. That is certainly something to factor in.

Japan isn't all that far from Australia, though, is it? In sort of the same neck of the woods? He'll be playing in Japan

I'd be upset too if I lived in Australia and wanted to see Paul. He's been away too long. But looking at this in a business rather than emotional sense, maybe the questions about Australia should be posed to the prospective promoters and why the prospective promoters can't convince him to come to Oz? I would hazard a guess here that it would appear to be something that can't be agreed upon between the promoter and the people handling his booking terms to get him there. Are the terms right? He played Israel and Dubai on one off's, so hauling the equipment and crew and band around the world would not appear to be the problem. It would seem the terms of agreement for getting them there is the stumbling block.

That could be it. Last May it was reported a deal was almost in place for McCartney to play in New Mexico, but it fell through because of money. So the tour was "re-rerouted" to Memphis instead. As much as we want McCartney to sit around and think, "I want to play there, and I want to play there" the truth is he probably doesn't give it any thought and is given a list of places that will "work" given certain criteria and then he oks it. It's nothing personal AGAINST Australia or New Mexico, but there is no real EFFORT to come to these places either. If Paul told his handlers, "Listen, I want to play Australia and New Mexico this year, make it happen. Change the criteria. I want to play there!" it would happen. I don't believe that is happening, at least not yet.

Without doubt tours are there to make money, nothing more nothing less emotion has be taken out (no matter how much it hacks us all off with the touring venues chosen)

Hey, I never thought Paul would tour Canada but he managed to do that between November 2012 and August 2013. Only placed he didn't play was the east coast. Maybe he'll make up for it with a show in Halifax sometime in the future. I finally have a concert t-shirt with only Canadian dates. Paul's in a no-win situation no matter what he does. Someone will be disappointed. Good luck to the UK fans with their HMV signing. And to Australian fans, hope you get your shows soon.

I always crack up when people say, "It's been a whole two years since McCartney has played my town. He needs to come back!" My complaint is there are places he has NEVER played, like Albuquerque. But my disappointment is just becoming indifference. Would I get excited if McCartney ever played Albuquerque? Of course! Do I care if he plays other places? Not really. Means absolutely nothing to me. And none of my money goes to those shows, so I really have nothing to complain about.

I am sure there is quite a few states McCartney has never played in the US. I bet off the top of my head he has never played in Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Mississippi, Alabama, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Montana etc. I just think they hit the major markets for the most part. I live in Charlotte and McCartney played here in 1993 and did not come back again until 2010.

You are right. Still, I wish my complaint was that McCartney played Albuquerque in 1993 and then again in 2010. But I do see your point.

I do feel bad for you, it has to be frustrating especially when you see how many times he has played major markets.

not really. it's like someone from Argentina or Brazil having to make a trip to the US to see a concert.. distancewise at least..
