Ads for his upcoming tour do mention...."all new..." He could just be deleting some songs that need to be given a rest and adding some from the past, but......new material seems likely as well. Audiences don't necessarily want to hear something they're not at all familiar with, or for the first time, at a Paul McCartney concert, so it would seem he would release a new album before the tour begins to generate some buzz and interest and take it from there.
All new is kind of funny because I am quite sure the set list will be like you mentioned. McCartney tours in 1989 and 1993 featured quite a few new songs from his most recent release and the world did not end for the audience - lol. Recently I watch a old video of McCartney's 1993 concert in Charlotte that was televised by FOX, crowd seem to enjoy the new songs from "Off The Ground". I agree if new record is ready, it would be wise to release it before the tour begins but since tour starts soon don't think that will happen.
On the other hand, he could certainly preview one or two about-to-be-released songs. At the 2004 Bridge School benefit, Paul played "Follow Me," introducing it as "one we just recorded," and it went over quite well. Of course, I still want the new album out yesterday.
Probably 90% of the posters on this site are so consumed by the tour, I am actually more interested in the new album.

I'm in the same boat, for the most part. Always glad to hear of Paul being on the road, but -- frankly -- I'm glad that I'll be seeing him at Bonnaroo, because I think that'll be the most likely event when Paul might shake things up on this leg of the tour. Maybe a preview song or two -- a surprise guest to join him on stage. Never before have I been so anxious for a new McCartney album.

I am anxious too and hope it will be as good as the last few records.

I wish Paul tries to relax and enjoy the songwriting and recording process, have a lot of fun without being caught up with worries about how his new works will be perceived. To an extent, he should just please himself first, and then think about other listeners. He pleased himself with "Kisses On the Bottom" and a lot of people liked that album. A lot of fans didn't care for it but he didn't appear to get anxiety-ridden over that. MAF was a good pop album but I hope the next one has a bit more rockabilly in the mix. Just a bit. He almost seemed to be trying too hard on MAF, in places, and it was almost overkill. A little over the top. Just here and there. "Chaos and Creation" had a little of that. But it was so great to be let inside his heart and mind like that and privy to what he was thinking and feeling, as never before. I just meant some of MAF seemed somewhat over-produced. The Beatlesque touches were quite something though

^good points. I think he's finally settled into that groove, he's been on a great run of albums since Flaming Pie. I'm just surprised that after all of the rumors I'd read the past year about his upcoming album how quiet it's been on that front. I'm wondering if it's going to drop sometime this year or maybe after he's wrapped up all of his live shows...

1. Four producers mentioned - Mark Ronson (he's given a few brief interviews) Ethan Johns (again a few brief comments) Giles Martin - Paul mentioned in February he was on his way to Air to work with him and Paul Epworth ( have not seen any comments from him) 2. Rusty tweeted in February that he had just finished a week's work with Paul on 'new' music' 3. Song titles mentioned include Hossana, Life of a Party Girl and If I Take You Home Tonight (on the Live Kisses DVD booklet) Is there any more information out there ?

Giles Martin also posted several tweets last summer/fall with pictures of Studio 2 at Abbey Road with all of Paul's guitars and amps set up and said something to the effect of "guess who."

This link says a summer release. Maybe I'll get to hear some new tunes at the Ottawa gig.

Last year, Kisses came out in February and the Ram Archives edition in May, about a three month gap between the two. With that as a possible precedent and Wings Over America out in a few weeks, this would seem to indicate that the new album should be out in September if all recording/mixing/CD cover, etc. are done. At least, I sure hope that is the case and they don't hold it until November to tap into the Christmas season.

Here's my mad take on the new album: I think it's already secretly done. And -- in kind of a David Bowie-strategy -- it will be released, seemingly out-of-nowhere, on the opening date of the tour. I'll even venture to suspect that the entire audience will receive a copy of the album, just like Prince did during his 2004 tour -- and that particular album quickly darted into the Top Ten (of course, Billboard has since changed its rules). It just doesn't make sense to embark on such a punishing tour-schedule like this in the summer -- and not promote an album ... ...that's supposedly not due for release until November. C'mon. We shall see.

It seems right now he's busy promoting all The Beatles releases from last year, the two Blu-rays and the vinyl remasters, as well as the current re-releases of Wings Over America and Rockshow. When that's over and the tour is done, that's when I think we will see the new album. That's the tour I want to see!

Actually, I don't think that many people on this board care about a new album. They just want to see him tour and play Beatle/Wings songs.

Yeah, still, I don't think touring to promote WOA or Beatles stuff will impact sales THAT much. There is a built in fan base that buys these things no matter what. I wish Paul would go back to touring to promote a new album. He could still play oldies, but at least you know why he is touring. I don't know why he is touring now under the moniker OUT THERE, except to make money. I am not knocking that, but that seems to be the only reason.

Yep, it used to be you only toured when you had a new album to promote. Now there are bands/acts that constantly tour like you said just to make money. I agree that it is fine to make money but you would think as a artist you would want to do something new and fresh for your audience. IMO - it is not "minty" fresh when you dust off a bunch of 30 or 40 yr old songs that you have not done ever or in a long time. I have said quite a few times my favorite McCartney concerts were when he had new record out and would actually paly 4-5 songs from it live.
