2016 rumors - new music?

stuartshire:
Haven't read all 6 pages of this thread, so apologies if I'm repeating someone. The Sun newspaper has reported him recording some new songs with the producer of Adele's album "25". I Love Pauls voice then and now. He was clearly going for a raw world weary vocal sound on 'Early Days'. That much is beyond obvious! I'm getting more than a little tired of the daily analysis of his voice to be honest... If his current voice isn't up to scratch for you - just play Band on the run on repeat...
He wasn't "going for" that vocal on Early Days. That was a first (or very early) take and he wanted to do it again (said he could do better) but the producer said no, he liked it that way. So that's how it was released.

My point is, his voice ended up on the track like that because they made a conscious desicion to release it that way. It was'nt because that was " the best he could do "...

Then why didn't you say that in the first place?

Surely this deserves its own thread? The usual snarky remarks in press and on social media are coming in again of course. I think this comment at COS was very fair:

Also, is it really hip to say ugly negative things, is that a big "hipster" attribute to be derisive and cynical? I guess you don't automatically think of hipsters as sunny Pollyannas, though. The Beatles music is often optimistic, does that mean their music isn't "hip" ?
They bend over backward to mock anything that's popular and anyone who likes anything that's popular. That's their thing. If The Beatles were working today, all the hip edgy people would hate them as much as they hate Paul's music now. Their thinking is that anything people like must be bad.

"Paul McCartney is composing audio emojis, because music is dead": http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/02/paul-mccartneys-new-audio-emojis-will-undoubtedly-prove-to-be-his-lasting-legacy/ "Sir Paul McCartney, of The Beatles, Wings, and Sirvana fame, has contributed a number of compositions to the world?s musical lexicon, from ?Hey Jude? to ?Blackbird? to ?Spies Like Us?. However, his latest artistic endeavor could prove to be his lasting legacy."
Those are the 3 songs he'll be known for.

http://noisey.vice.com/blog/paul-mccartney-interview-2016Maybe a classical composer or arranger will string these together into an emoji opera. Nothing much would surprise me anymore, after he's spent the last year and a half working with Kanye and Rihanna and Lady Gaga, jamming with Taylor Swift, writing music for video games and animated films, and now for emojis. Hey, if it keeps him engaged and fresh, it's fine with me. Remember a year ago, when everyone was "a-flutter" over his shaky SNL performance? And then he had a hugely successful tour anyway? He always bounces back.

Anymore, for me it's just the tours I have any interest in, and that is as a spectator. In 1979 I would get all excited about a new LP and possible tour or a new video. Not so much now. He can do whatever he wants, but music for emojis or recording with Taylor Swift hold no interest for me.
