If you're using virgin trains on monday or tuesday you're buggered http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/ i'm so angry - the strike is meant to be 5pm monday to 5pm tuesday, but noooo virgin have pulled all of their trains for all day monday and tuesday on the west coast mainline (ie london to manc, london to liverpool, london to birmingham, etc etc). there's still time for the strike to be cancelled, but i'm not holding my breath..
Not just Virgin, looks like CrossCountry are only running a limited service on Monday as well and no trains to Birmingham on that day either..which is not what was originally mentioned, as you say, so that throws a spanner into Monday travel, now too.

There are still seats left for his Liverpool show...Thought it was a sell out. You can get pairs of seats together and they are not bad. So if you still need a seat then hurry! Link below! http://www.echoarena.com/whats-on/paul-mccartney/

Need help from you locals. I get to Manchester Airport Wednesday morning at 8:50 AM. I don't know how long it will take me to clear customs. From what I've read so far I shouldn't have a problem due to the strike right? Do I get the train at the airport or do I need a shuttle to get to the train? Should I order the tickets ahead of time on-line? Their site says its cheaper to order ahead of time. Not sure how long it will take me to get thru the airport. Thanks

Hi, Should take you no longer than 60-90 mins to clear immigration and reclaim luggage. The train terminal is next to terminal 2 so dependent on which terminal you arrive in then there is an air bridge between terminal 1 and 2 but just ask any airport staff for info. The train is direct to Liverpool Lime Street (City Centre) and takes approx 35 mins and can be booked on the day for not much more than a pre-book. You not going the Birmingham concert on the 27th? If you fancy it I have a spare ticket for sale? (Decent Seat) next to me and could offer you a ride from Liverpool and back on the day of the show! Anyway whatever you decide have a great trip and hope the info above helps! Many Regards Joe

Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted on these forums. Best news of the year for me! I'm coming up on the 27th, so luckily I miss the train strike and the Cunard event that is supposedly going to cause a bit of chaos in Liverpool. I'm staying at the Premier Inn in Albert Dock. Is anyone else? This will be the one and only time I'm going to do VIP, so I'll be going to the soundcheck. Is anyone else doing the soundcheck? Also.... I've never been to Liverpool before so I might get lost!!
Good to see you around again FrankieJ! Have a wonderful time in Liverpool and at the concert!

Getting to Liverppol from Manchester Hi I live in manchester so I can help. From the airport you can either get a train if they are running ( they have been doing work on the line but don't worry a bus service will be in operation to Piccadilly station ) Or you can get the met ( a tram ) from the airport to Piccadilly train station it's about £3.60 ( change at corn brook ) From Piccadilly station trains to liverpool are around every half hour from 3am to around 11:30 pm Check train running times as some are 30 minutes some are just over an hour

Hi Frankie, My husband, Ian, and I will be at the soundcheck - see you there! We're staying at the Hilton. We'll probably get lost too, it's years since I've been in Liverpool We'd thought about going down to see the three queens but have decided against it due to expected chaos!! Excited, or what?!!!

Definitely excited! Have you been to one before? I keep asking Event Travel about whether I can bring in my non-professional little camera or not but they won't answer me. Any idea?

Hello! *waves* I've noticed you. You're right there! *points* Thanks for pointing this out. Huge relief I can take my regular camera with me. Now I just have to try and find it...... (I lose stuff a lot!) Are you going to soundcheck in Liverpool, too, or just London?

2: hello!! Yeah i was really worried with their wording about cameras in the letter that came with the tickets, but i'm taking a print out of their reply that said it was ok! We're just at the london (2nd night) soundcheck, we're doing the other 3 gigs but with normal tickets. I kind of wish we were doing the liverpool package instead - but i think that's with hindsight as i don't like our seats for that one!!! Enjoy it though, you'll have a blast At the moment i'm just breathing relief that allegedly the train strike is off so we can get back from london ready for the other 2 gigs! phew!!

I went to the soundcheck in Cologne in 2011. They definitely allow small cameras in the soundcheck as I took some photos then but, as ECB wrote, they definitely don't want you to take videos - and they do watch you to make sure you're not trying to do it! I'm used to using a dslr camera with a good lens so the small compacts are a bit rubbish. I have to admit I bought myself a Canon Powershot S95 specifically for that gig as it was supposed to be good in low light!! Results were okay, but not brilliant. I also reckon I missed quite a lot of the previous concert because I was too worried about getting photos so maybe this time I'll try and relax a bit more and just enjoy!! It's so expensive to do the soundchecks but it's definitely worth it. Do you know where you're sitting for the concert?

I'm doing the sound check and I've REALLY never been to Liverpool--never been to the UK--I'm from California!! I've been studying google maps--everything looks pretty compact--walkable, I hope--if it's not constant rain/wind--I don't want to MELT!!! LOL!! Staying at the Hampton by Hilton, not too far from the Albert Dock/Echo Arena, I think. Austin 5/22/13 Sound check! Can't miss that big wheel. we decided to walk from Ye Cracke back to the jurys inn one night and when we thought we got turned around we just looked for the Echo Wheel in the distance.
