"Early Days" music video

I know it's a matter of taste, but I still prefer the idea of this video NOT showing the Fab Four origins, and showing a slice of the blues heritage instead. It would be too literal and hitting us over the head with a hammer with the obvious if they showed early Liverpool scenery. I prefer something a bit more poetic and suggestive. The video allows us to use our imagination to read into the lives of those four boys in the South. There's already been tons of odes to the Beatles' origins. This was a beautiful opportunity to acknowledge some of their inspiration, while drawing parallels.

By the way, to answer the question asked a while ago, I'm 99.9% sure that this is the same vocal track as on the album version. Personally, I'm surprised and grateful he did such an inspiring video that expands on the song's theme, rather than the cliche of pictures of young John & Paul, Liverpool, etc. That would have been obvious and cheesy. What they created is brilliant and moving (huge credit to the director, who apparently came up with the idea).
Maybe it would have been obvious but read the lyrics and shouldn't video reflect the story he is telling in the song. Also, it seems Mr. McCartney is once again making sure he is telling his side of the story on who did what in Beatles. "May sweet memories of friends from the past Always comes to you, when you look for them And your inspiration long may it last May it come to you time and time again Now everybody seems to have their own opinion Of Who did this and who did that But as for me I don't see how they can remember When they weren't where it was at"
The video does tell the story he tells in the song. Two young men from obviously working-class origins (one of whom plays left-handed -- hmmm...) meet and share a love of music. Someone close to them dies and the music helps them get through and keep going toward their dreams. Yup, that's the story, but the point is that it's not just the story of John and Paul, it's the story of thousands of young musicians, famous and not, including the black kids who grew up to inspire those kids from Liverpool. It really takes some effort to not see this video as connected to the song.

I can honestly say that though I've enjoyed everything I've seen Depp in, I haven't spotted him in the video and don't care to look for a one second spot not after that teaser for Queenie Eye

Don't really follow the McCartney news any more, and still haven't seen this video, but this is new?
Here is an exclusive behind the scenes clip of a jamming session filmed at the video shoot for Paul McCartney's song 'Early Days'. The official video was launched earlier this summer and the end of it sees Paul playing with a group of blues guitarists, including Johnny Depp. This exclusive footage captures an impromptu jamming session that broke out between Paul and the musicians on the day of the shoot. A full 29 minute clip of the jamming session can be seen on Paul's website: www.PaulMcCartney.com An official 'Making of Early Days' film will be made available later this year as part of a special collectors edition of 'NEW'. The special collectors edition will feature highlights and exclusive material chronicling the release and promotion of 'NEW'. More details to be announced in the coming weeks. 'NEW' was originally released in October 2013.

I actually meant Eric instead of Paul. That is so totally Clapton's game more so the Paul. (singing/playing the blues) Eric Clapton was featured on Paul's My Valentine for the album Kisses on the Bottom.
