Paul's comforting songs
-
^ That's a natural choice...we missed it, because there are so many. Good Times Coming/ Feel the Sun... A really summery, positive song! Dance til We're High... I hear that first chord and that is such a happy song!! The new one is another really positive and beautiful song... The orchestration is perfect!! In the Blink of an Eye
-
"Don't Let It Bring You Down" from a Wings album. Sounds pretty and folksy but with a serious undertone. And features a flute, methinks.
-
Played "Little Willow" at a very good friends' funeral. The song made about everyone cry. And "Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People" meant a lot to me last year while I saw my Mom slowly fade away to cancer.

Yes...Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People. I need to go listen to this. Also I need to listen to Don't Let It Bring You Down. Some of these songs listed are nice but not necessarily "comforting".

I don't think happy songs really fit the definition that started this thread, at least not necessarily. "Little Willow" is a comforting song, but not necessarily happy. "Silly Love Songs" is about as happy as it gets, but I wouldn't call it comforting.

Using this definition... serving to improve a person's mood or restore a sense of physical well-being... all of the songs I've posted, improve my mood and well being after a horrible day at work. I even like to play them at my desk at work, at the end of the work day!!!

On that definition, which I agree with, my most comforting songs of Paul (which really lift my mood) are: Oh! Darling. Why Don't We Do It In The Road Maybe I'm Amazed (album version) Goodnight Tonight Ballroom Dancing Stranglehold Silly Love Songs With A Little Luck Rockshow Yesterday I've Got A Feeling They always leave me more buoyant after listening to them. Never less buoyant.

I forgot "It's Not True". For some reason..... Always manages to tickle my ribs, that song.
-
'Call Me Back Again' I would throw into the mix. Has nastologic and hopefull lyrics and slow rolling melody.plus, its a nice nod to John.
-
Celebration I wish he'd do a proper recording
-
Paul can comfort me with his song anytime. Wait, is this the dream thread?

Me too, it's a great song!

Wow many of Paul's songs comfort me especially Too Much Rain when I'm having anxiety attacks when I listen to that song I feel as though Paul is comforting me in that way and I always feel better. I gotta get that song back on CD. I love the Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard album.

I love the rocker Whole Life ...it's so cool ALWAYS LIFTS ME UP With Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics,

When I was listening to MAF the other night I thought of this thread when "The End of the End." came on. Even though it's about death, I find it to be a very calm and soothing way of looking at it. It's probably my favorite song on the album, as it has such evocative lyrics.

As I've posted before, MAF came out as my dad was nearing death, and I found "The End of the End" very comforting. It made me cry (still does at times), but that was healthy and necessary. And I think my dad would have loved lines like, "On the day that I die I'd like jokes to be told."

I listened to it after my husband recently passed on your recommendation Bruce. Thank you. I even had them play it on our local Breakfast with the Beatles & Terry Hemmert (the dj) also said a few nice words about it comforting people.

Thinking of George Michaels and thought of this one...Heal the Pain

Thinking that Riding to Jaipur and Sun is Shining both bring images of a really very mellow day, with the sun shining, on vacation and just such a good time day. Just thought riding to Jaipur had some good Fireman moments in there too.

"A little Luck" does it for me also add in "Hope of Deliverance" and "Mull of Kintyre"
