"Tripping The Live Fantastic" finds the radio!
-
Not exactly the radio, but the 1990 "Hey Jude" that got me to start this thread randomly showed up at a bar tonight! I was sitting there eating dinner and watching the basketball game, when I hear Paul singing...I look up and there he is!
-
My local Morrisons store plays 'Let It Be', 'Hey Jude', 'All My Loving' and ..... 'Hope Of Deliverance'
-
Heard the "Straight No Chaser" Macca remix/collaboration of "Wonderful Christmastime" on the radio today. That was nice.
-
"Tripping the Live Fantastic" is a super live album, all those rare goodies he never does in concert anymore, and smashing in general It's fabulous
-
I like TRIPPING, I saw three nights of that tour in Los Angeles, so I have very fond memories. It was a FANTASTIC concert!!

'Hi Hi Hi' of all songs! In a NYC shop, just one day before I finally got to see Paul McCartney live in concert in April 2009. (Thanks harleyblues! ) 'With A Little Luck' in a Dutch supermarket a while ago, made my day. Then over here this Dutch popular DJ - the Dutch Howard Stern... - broadcasts at, like, the BBC Radio 1 of The Netherlands: only modern music. But on McCartney's birthday he almost every year makes a point by playing on of his songs, and then not 'Hey Jude' or 'Let It Be', but... 'My Brave Face' or... 'Beautiful Night'. That's the only time McCartney or Beatles gets played over there. Save for the night program of this other Dutch, hip, popular DJ, who is a true music lover and always played songs like 'Girls School' or 'Helen Wheels' or 'Juniors Farm' in his old night program once in a while. I called in my times as youngster, and then he knew what time it was: 'Girls School' again, haha!

I wish Paul would release a new live compilation album like "Tripping The Live Fantastic". Along with "Paul Is Live", and "Back In The US/World", I love that live stuff. A concert like NYC is cool, too, but a new tour compilation is way overdue. A live "Out There" album with selections from Brazil, Bonnaroo, US, Japan, Canada, etc...with the new album songs and the new Beatles/Wings additions to the setlist. What I really loved about TTLF were the soundcheck bonuses.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place but watching last night's match of the day 2 on BBC 1 (it's a soccer highlights show in Britain) in the build up to the Manchester United Cardiff city match they played in the background one of the tracks from the first fireman album

I wouldn't say that a live-DVD/album is "way overdue." But I agree, however, that the time has now come to start planning one. Disregarding this latest leg of the Out There tour, I would've personally been quite disappointed in a concert-DVD comprised almost entirely by old songs -- with "My Valentine" being the lone newbie. Now that there have been some live performances of NEW songs...now we can start thinking about a live-album/DVD.

Just seen an aftershave advert with cut me some slack as the music Go Paul
-
Yeah, Audi, I agree that any new "Out There" release should include the "New" live additions! I love those compilations. Hard to believe "Back In The US/World" is now going on 12 years. It's time! haha.

After the fiasco that was GENYC I don't think he should ever release another live album. That was recorded when his vocals were still passable, now it would either be a disaster. Back in the US/World sounded amazing. His vocals had noticeably deteriorated on The Space Within US but it still sounded superb. The iTunes and Amoeba shows from 07 still sounded good to these ears but by '09 they had to make him sound like a robot for a passable commercial release. Imagine what it would be like these days!

He still has his very good moments. I just hope that he doesn't add his own harmonies to supposedly "live" performances, like he did on "Lady Madonna" on GENYC.

Really?! He must be saving these very good moments for private performances!

I'm referring to great nights like May 19 in Orlando, Florida. The recent BBC 6 thing? Not so much.

May 19 in Orlando was certainly better than is usual, but it still wouldn't cut it for a live album IMO. The thing recently is that his voice isn't just paper thin with limited range, but he actually sings out of tune. That's new for Paul. It's that that annoys me more than the age related changes.

Good days and bad days. Maybe after 2014, there'd be enough tour material to take the best days. Of the three shows I went to this summer, his vocals were good in Memphis, awesome in Indianapolis, and ok in Milwaukee. Then there are days (like the BBC show) where it might not be so good.

I thought his voice was great at the BBC concerts - especially the radio 2 one .There were a few live "moments" , but he was rarely out of tune

I am going to miss this weekend when it's over! So much airtime! Yesterday, I heard all of these and more on the radio at some point: - A Hard Day's Night, Help, I Should Have Known Better, I've Got a Feeling, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, What Is Life, Band On The Run, and Let Em In. At one point, I successfully found 4 consecutive, different radio stations playing Beatles/Solo songs. Couldn't believe it. I'd go to another station and there they were. I think they'll play even more on Sunday.
