"Tripping The Live Fantastic" finds the radio!

*MaccaGirl*:
I've only heard Jet, Maybe I'm Amazed, My Love (rarely), Band On The Run, With A Little Luck, and Silly Love Songs, on the radio before. I heard My Brave Face in a grocery store which was surprising. I did hear Silly Love Songs playing in a bar right after I saw Rockshow a few weeks back (it was in the same plaza/center), which was also unusual. There weren't many other people at the showing but I wonder if another fan was at said bar and requested the song through one of those electronic jukeboxes. The only John or George songs I ever hear on the radio are Imagine and My Sweet Lord.
The electronic jukeboxes rock! lol. There have been many a bar and club where I've pulled some McCartney rockers out of their library to hear them pumped throughout the place. Luckily there's a pretty good selection available. I've heard all the ones you've mentioned played, except for My Brave Face. That song deserves more radio play.

Heard "Jet" and "Listen To What The Man Said" on Wednesday night within several hours of each other. Brought a smile to my face. I went about 2-3 weeks without hearing any post-Beatles Macca on the radio, then two find me in one night. They were both studio cuts, but I was wondering - with all the WOA and Rockshow promo going on, I thought I'd hear at least one or two WOA cuts here and there (even though "Maybe I'm Amazed" is almost exclusively that version when played on the radio).

I know it's come up before in the past about how frequently (or quite the opposite) that Wings/solo recordings of Macca come up on commercial radio. I think the 5 post-Beatles Macca songs I hear the most on the radio are "Band On The Run", "Maybe I'm Amazed", "Jet", "Silly Love Songs", and "Live and Let Die". Once in a rare while I hear "With a Little Luck" or "Junior's Farm". The best one was stopping at a gas station in the middle of nowhere farmland earlier this year, at 3 o'clock in the morning, and hearing "1985" blasting through the station speakers. There've been one or two more I've heard on satellite. Anyway, I often listen to classic rock in Chicago (97.1fm). Got the awesome surprise last night when driving home and all of the sudden "Hey Jude" comes on unannounced from Tripping The Live Fantastic. It was awesome! Never heard a cut from that played before on commercial radio (though I'm sure it has been at some point somewhere). Still, it was awesome to hear that band lineup getting some airplay. Was wondering what other songs anybody's encountered out there before. Being a student of radio, I've always been fascinated by these kinds of details.
Classic rock station in my town does "Acoustic Hour" every Sunday. Listeners can request certain songs and they obviously pick selections they want to play. Anyway, I asked for "Here Today" and it actually got played several weeks later. BTW - with the request the stations asks you to submit a brief reason why you requested the song and sometimes they mention it on the air with the song.

I had recently heard the last bits of No More Lonely Nights at a walgreens near my work a few months back. Almost fell down as I walked in. My Brave Face I've heard sometimes in a grocery store. Sadly the others seem to get so overplayed by classic rock radio. I am thankful my local station carries breakfast with the Beatles, but still as a normal playlist............Expect the same 5 songs over and over again.

I always wondered why the hell the oldies/classic rock stations always play the same damn Beatles and solo songs!! Nobody ever has the balls to play something besides Band On The Run, Jet, Maybe I'm Amazed, Imagine, and the like. We lost our oldies station here so I never hardly hear a Beatles song unless it's Let It Be or Hey Jude, which they will play on the classic rock station.

Our oldies station (Hippie Radio) slips in select choice tracks several times throughout the day. They play "Helen Wheels," "uncle Albert" and "Goodnight Tonight."

Lost your oldies station? Sorry to hear that. Thank goodness for classic rock. There are 4-5 stations here in Chicago that play Beatles/Wings. An oldies station, a classic rock station, a '60s/70s/80s station, XRT, and the Loop, which pretty much plays "Come Together" and that might be it from the Beatles...and I think "Jet" they've played too. 104.3 plays Beatles at the top and bottom of every hour on Wednesdays. 94.7 used to have a Beatle break every 4:30pm (not sure if they still do). Then XRT has "Breakfast with the Beatles"...so that bumps it up to 5 stations. And yet with all that, I tend to miss most of it. The best was one night our classic rock station had an hour of Beatles solo material. Which brings me back to the beginning of this topic - I was very surprised when I heard the T.T.L.F. "Hey Jude" one night. Ear-to-ear grin!

I was surprised to hear "Put It There" in a local grocery store. Heard it there two different times. Heard "My Brave Face" in a Mcdonalds. Also heard "Eight Days a Week" and "Can't Buy Me Love" there.

And like clockwork, just hours after posting here, "With a Little Luck" comes on the '70s channel. Refreshing!

On the way home tonight! Now they're toying with me. Nonetheless, got me in the mood for next week's concerts!

Here mainstream radio plays the same Macca classics over and over, and also the same Beatle classics. Macca: Hope Of Deliverance, Say Say Say and No More Lonely Nights Beatles: Let It Be, Yesterday, All You Need Is Love

Songs I heard on Milwaukee's oldies radio station today/tonight for the concert: - The Long and Winding Road - Maybe I'm Amazed (Live '76) - Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey - Hi, Hi, Hi - Live and Let Die - Goodnight Tonight - Coming Up (Live '79) - Hey Jude - We Can Work It Out (Live '02) - No More Lonely Nights plus Maybe I'm Amazed in Chicago on my way to Milwaukee! For once didnt need an iPod to hear the good stuff!
-
I like Milwaukee's oldies station! "No More lonely Nights" -- cool!
-
Recently on our classic rock station I've heard Hey Jude (twice), Maybe I'm Amazed and Silly Love Songs!

Just heard "My Brave Face" on South Jersey radio

I heard a saxophone version of Yesterday playing in Barcelona's subway... not a rare song, but I can't remember the last time I heard a Paul song playing on the subway, it was And I Love Her.
-
I would love to hear "My Brave Face" come on the radio. That would make my day! As for the subway, in Chicago the musicians tend to stick to blues on sax...I can't think of any Beatles. When I was in Indianapolis for the concert last week, I walked past two different saxophonists...one was playing "Get Back", the other was playing "Come Together".
