Newark, NJ/Prudential Center/Sept 11 & 12 - CONFIRMED

Henderson7:
Not one single change, disappointing.
Disappointing, yes, but I'm not surprised.
-
There was one change though: he skipped 'The Fool On The Hill'.
-
One thing I noticed was right before the lights went down, there were tons of empty seats. Not even close to full

There was one change though: he skipped 'The Fool On The Hill'.
Fool on The Hill was very rough, vocally, in Tampa. IT's best to just skip it all together. BUT why not replace it with another magic piano type Beatles album cut? Ala...YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW...FIXING A HOLE...FOR NO ONE....I could go on...

We didn't mention 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five': crazy to think it's here for 7,5 years now. I went to Dublin in 2010 solely because I knew he would drop it instantly... Also, again, realise he did drop that spine-tingling arrangement of 'Here, There & Everywhere'. He just dropped it. He added a jewel like that, in that way, and it was gone just like that. Here's 'Let Me Roll It' again. What a man.
Still salty about "Here, There, and Everywhere". So bittersweet. My favorite song of all time. I'm blessed to have heard it three times...most people don't get to hear their favorite song sung by its composer even once. BUT...it vanished for no discernible reason. I'm still bewildered. 1985 kicks ass every night but I would not be disappointed if it were replaced (key words here) with another post-Beatles piano rocker.
You're not settling for 'I Wanna Be Your Man' ;)?
I may actually shed a tear if that train wreck is still in the setlist. That was downright embarrassing in Tampa. I'd rather it just be pulled and the show be 90 seconds shorter.
No Here There and Everywhere ?

Hope I am posting this in a helpful thread. We were at the show last night in Newark, 9-11. Enjoyed it very much, he sounds much better at inside arenas, of course. This was my 5th show, AC, PHL, Brooklyn, Giants stadium before this. OK, so we had seats in 112. I will start this that when we got to our seats, it was early, and there was a large man sprawled into 3 seats, legs onto the row in front of him. My seat? Right next to him. It was man spreading to the MAX. Ugh, I thought. Kill me now. He struggled to stand to let us into the row, almost falling down, I thought he was handicapped and felt a little worried for him. My friend told me later that in fact he was very drunk, instead. I went out to use restroom and saw a line, randomly in the missile of the concourse. Asked what it was for, first couple did not know, just got on it, haha. I did too, then was told IT WAS TO EXCHANGE SEATS FOR BETTER SEATS. I saw a pile of old tickets on floor in front of an employee who had a stack of tickets in her hand. Hmm. I got to head and was asked, do you want to sit on the FLOOR? Sure I said. But I had to run and get my friends ticket, which I did, but then was told they were only exchanging 200s tickets, NOT 100s like I had. So small groups would line up and get new tickets, I stood off to the side, as it was approaching 7:30 pm. I asked again and was refused again. (I was SUPER POLITE). I ran to restroom, and returned again, and there was no line, and she still had tickets. WELL, she hooked us UP!!! OMG!! We refused the floor tickets (in back I think, by now) and she gave us Section 9, NINE, row 9, NINE. On the end, 17&18. Best seats EVER. Much of the section was other re-settled people. Some empty seats stayed empty too, not too many. I post this because it is possible they will be exchanging tickets tonight as well. The new tickets look like a hard ticket, but say complimentary $0 on them. The distribution I saw and used was outside section 112/113. I will never forget sitting so close at a Paul concert.

That's incredible! Congrats! ON the otherhand....that is absolutely INSANE. I know the MSG shows are well sold, but as for the other venues? Is that what Paul's team has done to the franchise with this over saturation of the market this month? I hope not...NYC may not see him in a full concert setting again after all this.

Comment on the YouTube video of Paul signing the Hofner Thank you for posting this! It was my wife that brought the guitar to be signed. We are holding a fundraiser for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, an organization founded by another legendary Paul (Newman) to support children with life threatening illness. The event is next Tuesday, I'll let you know how much we raise!!! Apparently the wife didn't attend the concert.

Probably couldn't afford tickets...little did she know they were literally throwing them on the ground inside! Glad to hear this is serving a purpose. Paul's team must have known ahead or something considering he really does never stop. Since he's returned to touring in '09, can anyone recall him stopping to sign ANYTHING at limo watch?

Hey everybody, I can't wait to attend my 4th Paul show tonight! I was wondering if anyone knew what time he started and what time the show ended last night? Thanks!

Tough group here tonight. It got me thinking that when I was negative on the Setlist when "One on One" began, there were quite a few people that thought I was too tough on Paul. But tonight really did it for me. So glad that I didn't buy a ticket. The show is totally for "1st timers". Unfortunately Paul is not putting any time in making his concerts better for the "true" fans. I remember back in 2002, 2005 and 2010, I thought that Paul and the Band were the best "live" act out there. But he has just decided to just play the same songs. It is such a shame for the "man" that has the best catalog going. He shows a lot of energy for his age but putting on a great show means you have to play for the "real" fans too. You have to set a goal and put the time in. You have to play songs that the "true" fans love that either hasn't been played before or just rarely played.. Hate to say it but he is just "mailing it in". I'm happy for the 1st timers but at the same time, I'm glad I didn't pay that kind of money. No wonder the average person (all ages but especially 40 and older) knows little about Paul's severely underrated Post Beatles career. No songs from Tug of War (except Here Today that is a perfect tribute song), Flowers in the Dirt, Flaming Pie, Chaos and Creation, MAF etc. etc. These are albums that got Grammy nominations with a ton of very good to great songs. He just ditches them. It's a shame.

I think Paul went on at about 8:45 last night...it's typically in the 8:20-8:30 range though.

I was very happy with the tour setlist as it debuted last year. There were a lot of new songs on stage OR ones that hadn't been played regularly in a long time, or even new arrangements of old tunes! A Hard Day's Night (NEW!) Letting Go (First time since 2010) Here, There, and Everywhere (New arr.) In Spite of All The Danger (New arr.) Love Me Do (NEW!) You Won't See Me (New arr.) Fool on The Hill (First time since 2003?) Four Five Seconds (NEW!) BUT since then, "Letting Go" is only played half the time...and "Here, There, and Everywhere" and "Fool on The Hill" have been cut. Yet songs like "I've Got a Feeling" that long overstayed its welcome from 2005-2012, is brought back and doesn't budge! It's all of those little nuances that put the icing on top for repeat offenders, in my opinion at least. I just hope there's some special guest(s) at the garden...I don't know how else there will be a "wow" factor for a returning fan...still holding out for V&M/RS/J too.

Seems like no one has any complaints about Paul's voice, which I thought sounded great last night. Fantastic show! Regarding the set list, I don't understand why people are surprised that there are few changes in this leg of the tour. The tour has the same name that it did in 2016 (One On One). Once I found out that there wasn't a new tour name, I knew that I shouldn't expect any changes. If there were empty seats last night, high ticket prices combined with a total of six NY area shows would be the reason. I'm a diehard fan, and even I couldn't believe the cost with fees for this leg of the tour when I had the tickets in my cart at Ticketmaster.

8:43 - 11:28. There were a couple of false starts of the intro so I think it was being delayed a bit. I had the feeling it was because they were waiting to make sure everyone was in their seats.

Completely agree about Paul's voice (and the show!). I thought multiple times during the set that he sounded better than he has lately.

Hmm, that might explain why there seemed to be many people around me in section 10 who sat down well after 8, didn't stand at all, didn't know some songs like YWSM, and tore out before the show was over. Sometimes that can be a bit of a bummer for those of us quite... invested... in our seats. However, if it means those seats went to folks like you who got a huge thrill, and others who really wanted such seats but were priced out, then that's a great thing. For every "bad luck" ticket buying experience I've had, I've benefitted from good luck too. And those side stage seats are a total blast! I was overjoyed with my seats last night, and will be on the 10/9 edge tonight.

Fair singalong for 'You Won't See Me', don't hear that often.
Also a great singalong at MetLife last summer. Funny thing was I was taking a video when the first verse came in at that show and Brian reacted in a very pleasantly surprised/amused way, kind of like, "See, I told you boss, they definitely know this song!" Yet this time when the first verse came in he just went ahead and made a "tossing it to you" gesture to the crowd.

Just one general comment... Like a good fan ;), I rue setlist choices, stew over ticket buying games, and fret about transportation logistics; however, when I'm at the show and there's Paul, the band, and me, all of that disappears and I'm about the happiest I ever am. That's why I'll never stop going to these shows. Some of the FOTRs held up signs last night that said "Never stop doing what you love." I got a bit teary-eyed and Paul seemed genuinely touched. That's my takeaway.

Exactly.

I forgot one other comment I wanted to make, though it's more about the shows in general than last night's in particular. Of course one of the reasons the show is so scripted and inflexible is the huge production component. Obviously we fans would be delighted with, and perhaps even prefer, something more informal and spontaneous like the soundchecks (used to be). However, I really think it's worth appreciating how impressive and entertaining the production of Paul's shows are. I personally haven't been to many shows that rival it -- Roger Waters may be the only one who comes close. Every time I look at my photos after shows I'm blown away by how visually stunning they are. Last night I was dead parallel with the middle of the stage and elevated so I got a fantastic "3D" view of everything happening and it was spectacular. The amount of effort that has to go into everything, the detail, the precise timing, etc. It even seems to be constantly "getting better." I'm blown away every time and really appreciate all the thought and effort he and his crew put in to "mach schau."

I guess no one was called up on stage?
