Just a reminder to listen to this song regularily. Vintage Paul, if we have any Paul fans in the house. they laughed a lot that summer, laughed a lot Laughing at the good times coming And remember, you don?t need a reason, just a rest. I?m lovin it, I?m lovin it, I?m loving it now..

I like "Stranglehold," think it sounds like a real rock song I get a certain wacky charge out of "Talk More Talk" there's an exciting bouncy lively vibe to it. Hey I hadn't known Paul and Linda did those weird sounding voices "Goood Times Coming" I don't fancy as much. It sounds uptight, kind of cold and mechanical, a bit the antithesis of "good times" Now "Ram" now, stuff on there, truly does elicit rapturous blissful feelings of 'good times.' Driving around this afternoon, I heard another "80's music day" on a radio station. Why do they air these special programs featuring Eighties music so often, if a lot of 80's music sucked? (And a lot of it did ) But did it have more of a distinctive sound than, say, 90's music? Cause you don't hear special 90's music programs on F.M. radio nearly as often. If ever. OOPS, maybe I should have made a new thread for the above query(?)--

I like this song a lot very catchy and upbeat makes me think of summertime
-
A favorite track from the album that made me a fan of Paul McCartney in the first place.

although i like 'good times coming/feel the sun' quite alot i have often thought that actually the second part of the song 'feel the sun' is possibly underplayed in this little album track. what i mean is the melody is actually gradeA ,right up there with pauls best songs. im no musical expert but imagine if you could merge another beautiful underscored mccartney song 'summers day song' with 'feel the sun' to make one song. im sure with the right mixing it would be possible.i believe the result would be totally awesome.a song that would be on a level melody wise with mccartneys greatest work. summers day song/feel the sun

So I?ve really become a big fan of this track since purchasing the Press To Play vinyl. A total highlight from that album for me. 80?s Paul really capturing something sweet I get the feeling on it of listening in on him having a nostalgic thought Like he?s talking directly to us, letting us into the personal sunny feeling he?s having, and also wishing for us that we might all feel that same sun shining in. pretty spacey and dream like, right? Really fresh. So good. It?s a pretty simple tune too, done just right. I totally feel it and for me its a perfect lyric for the vibe. I?m loving it now? laughin at the good times comin in Good Times Coming / Feel The Sun
so I guess I could have put all this in the "Paul song of the Day" thread but anyone got a thought by chance on laughing at the good times comin in :Always favoured the "Feel the Sun" half of this suite. Great, under-appreciated album, though -- one of his best!

It is very '80s too 80s for me. Would love to see it become a real reggae song thats me

Are The Beatles too '60s. Were Wings too '70s. I've made the case before that Press To Play is heavy on drum machines (which have come a loooong way since then), but those tracks are just as good as Genesis' HUGE hit "Tonight Tonight Tonight," one of the best tracks of the decade.

There is such a really good positive feel to this album. I too love Good Times Coming/Feel The Sun. I especially love it when he launches into "Feel The Sun"

I just don't like his voice as much on "Good Times Coming." He sings the whole thing in kind of an odd, high pitched, almost Frankie Valli like singing style, doesn't he? In kind of a lower key falsetto. (?) I'd prefer it if he'd sung that in his usual full out exuberant, truly happy sounding lovely vocal tones. Hearing in the mind's ear his singing that song in his usual voice and not continually in a higher pitch, I like the song much more. Am probably being too nit picky. The song boasts a good snappy melody that moves right along for the most part, in a spritely manner. I don't even remember right now how "Feel the Sun" goes. I did play the "Press to Play" cd many times after I first bought it. I did find a lot in that album to admire and enjoy.
-
perhaps you need to listen a bit harder then because the 'feel the sun' bit is possibly the biggest hook on the whole album. the 'good times coming' bit is only average but effective with the 'feel the sun' second part really hitting gradeA macca.

As much as i like Good times Coming/Feel the Shine, I prefered the full version of Feel the Sun, would be nice if the full version was put on the remasters.

We laughed a lot that summer laughed a lot laughing at the good times comin

A longtime fave of mine.

Very, very fond of this album, but I put this double header behind a few of the others - Stranglehold, Footprints, Angry, However Absurd (a grower), Move Over Busker did it for me a lot more. Plus one of the tracks that didn't make it on the album - "It's not True."
-
"It's Not True" IS on the "Press to Play" album or is that album just called "Press"--why'd you say it isn't, toris?

It's not on the album. The B-side to the single Press, or at least the 12 inch single I bought. It might drip of '80's' but I love this song. Should've been on the album.

It's on the CD, but the original vinyl release in 1986 ended with "However Absurd". Back as early as 1986 CDs with extra tracks were not really what people went with when classing what was on an album. The vinyl was THE album, to artist reviewer and fans alike. Most of us back then knew "It's not true" "write away" and "tough on a tightrope" as b sides of "Press" "pretty little head" and "only love remains" 7 inch singles.
