The Song Everyone Loves........But You .
-
I do not like "Yellow Submarine". I was so horrified when I found out that Paul wrote it mainly. I had a spaz attack. I just found a Facebook page called, "'What's your favourite Beatles song?' 'Yellow Submarine!' 'Leave.'" I didn't particularly like a few songs on Memory Almost Full, since they were too modern-sounding for my taste.

yuk...no...I don't care for any of his duos actually. Some are catchy but still...no.
I quite agree! Except the Beatles/Wings stuff, of course, but that doesn't count.

"Free As A Bird"
-
I never liked My Love from the first listen - I don't know why people thought it was a great song - it's dull, sappy (more than usual for Paul) and the "woah-oh-oh-oh"s just piss me off.
-
"Famous Groupies" but I've never heard anyone say they really love that one

I do! It's my screen name at other Beatles/Paul websites!

I have a soft spot for Famous Groupies.I just love the folky feel of it and the amusing lyric.I think there's not enough humour in music, and this has it in abundance.

Disagree. It's a reaally inane lyric and the tune is pretty awful too. They were obviously stoned or drunk when they did this one. I really like London Town except for this song.

i get tired to let it be but i still rank it as one of my favorite paul songs

You mean you prefer the awful Children,Children and Girlfriend,oh god. Maybe you have to have an English sense of humour to love it.I think the song is a hoot, and i love it,but hey it'd be a dull world if we all liked the same things.

Still, we must acknowledge that Paul and Stevie's recent White House performance of "Ebony & Ivory" restored the song's integrity, though. An unexpected highlight for me:
I'm with Audi on that. I actually got choked up watching it.
I'd heard stories that the reason why Paul yanked it from the setlist on his '89 tour was that a mass, beer/bathroom-run exodus would occur. I've seen footage on youtube from the New York City show. Decide for yourself:

I was at the L.A. show for that tour and there was no mass exodus during Ebony and Ivory (or any other time)

It's indeed an excellent bathroom excuse Terrible song. Listened to All The Best yesterday and that's the song I skip immediately.

I like the theme and meaning of the lyrics of "Average Person" but not the sound of the song itself. It has a "Famous Groupies" vibe. A little too dance-hally and old timey English vaudeville. They're each "too Broadway." I might eventually come to love them both. Paul's songs have a way of sneaking up on you gradually, if you don't fancy them immediately which also often happens.
-
believe me. bathroom breaks are usually reserved for pauls new material only. despite how corny 'ebony and ivory' is im sure back in 1989 it was the critics ['rolling stone' come to mind]that forced paul to drop that song....and rightly so aswell.to this day its a huge embarrassment! paul in recent years even started putting his new songs together simultaneously[big word for me that!!]. it gave his 'beatles greatest' hits crowd plently of time for a burger, fag and bathroom break, whilst our paulie was inside the arena pouring his heart out trying to sell his new album.! never mind, they were all back in time for 'let it be'!!!
-
Yes Its a shame his new stuff means so little to the vast majority of his concert crowds, for me thats what i'd be going to hear, rather than the over done Beatle stuff.
-
yes nige. actually people bang on about how fantastic the concert was like in glasgow this year. but to be honest,i was pretty close to the front dancing my little feet off during the likes of venus and mars/rockshow','1985','mrs vanderbilt' and 'letting go' whilst there were plenty of bemused faces and looks during those songs. plenty knew them and enjoyed them but plenty didnt and had no idea what he was singing.! could you imagine the reception those songs would get infront of an arena full of paul/wings fans only? now that really would be an incredible gig!!!!
-
I think MAF is one of his best albums, if not the best.
-
I can't agree that the majority of the crowd is tuning out the new stuff. 3/4 of the building is usually clapping and singing along with "Dance Tonight." And they loved The Fireman tracks, as well. Totally disagree with y'all.

Well if they ain't walking out great, but I know most ain't buying it cos if they were he'd be number 1 for weeks.
