When Paul boldly opened with Figure Of Eight....

Maybe a bit off topic but I came across this site with some nice 1990 pics earlier today: http://www.rosshalfin.com/paul-mccartney/paul-mccartney01.php
That first photo of Paul is great! WHAT model of 5 string Rickenbacker is he holding???
-
I saw Paul in 89 and going into the concert I actually knew surprisingly little about his music, but had heard Flowers and loved Figure of 8. when he opened with it, that was like a magic moment for me. the whole McCartney thing crystalized for me like, wow this guys a bad ass.

That is precisely my point.

I believe it is an altered Blackstar given the black fretboard. The blackstar, normally a 4 string though some 5 string versions were made had black hardware. The fretboard is the give away!

Let's do this again Paul!!!!!

I think Paul forgot about the "Flowers In The Dirt" album when it comes to live concert ideas... : I don't think a new live version would punch through like it did with Hamish, Robbie, and Linda. But I'm all for it returning...or "My Brave Face" or something...anything from that album!

Actually, I think it would have more "teeth" with the current line-up.

I should rephrase what I said, haha. I agree. Especially with Abe's drumming and the improved sound. I was going more along the vocals. Without Hamish and Linda on vocals, I wonder how it would sound.

I think of his current tunes, "Save Us" would work perfectly as an opener -- strong opening guitar riff leads into a solid, punchy rocker. He could follow with a more familiar, upbeat Wings tune (I vote "Junior's Farm") -- and then, maybe, I'd consider letting do something from the Beatles days. Hey, a boy can dream...

OMG, another agreement! (the moon must be in the seventh house & Jupitar aligned with Mars!)

Well, there's my cue to say it again: Paul's iHeartRadio set would've been much better, had he opened with "Save Us." Opening that set with, yet, another performance of "Magical Mystery Tour" showed a lack of faith in his newer songs.

...I think that guy might be planning a comeback.
I loved it when he opened with "Figure of Eight", saw him in Madison Square Garden and had great seats. I believe he played "Rough Ride" right after "Jet" which made it two new songs in the first three of the show. I have always like McCartney concerts more when he plays 5-6 songs from his current record.

I agree also, would love to see him do it.

Think your right, this band would kick butt with that song.

Wow. Just realized that this is a thread that I started! Time flies...
