Surely, the song was written when they were young and all of this didn't matter!
And they were probably in the backseat of a comfy car. Yes, to be that young again. lol.
Please Please Me would be instantly identified for what the song is really about if it were released today!

Good thing I am too young and naïve to understand you two.... now, who was that assistant football coach who declared in the media he was very keen to get the head job?... I think he was eventually appointed senior coach.
-
Please Please Me is about a man who eats too much junk food and gets clogged arteries while his woman wants to eat more healthy food. I don't want to sound complaining But you know there's always rain in my heart I know you never even try, girl Everyone knows that.

Take a sad song and make it better Sad songs are some of the best songs ever written. Some can't be made better. Sad songs say so much. Turn them on.
-
Although I really like his music; he's not the greatest songwriter.
-
In a certain mood, "sad songs" provide catharsis and an almost enjoyable melancholy, and "misery loves company" but O how I love the joy in Paul's happy songs, which comprise much of his songbook, makes a dreary day turn sunny (but I often appreciate rainy weather).

Wow. If he's not, he's pretty effin' handy at it.
-
His references to bananas in hi hi hi

Yeah, and Paul had absolutely nothing to do with writing Give Peace A Chance! (even though John gave him writing credit on it)

Moreover that one line has become iconic. Good enough, and powerful enough for millions singing it at anti-war rallies around the world and it was sung by crowds of distraught fans outside the Dakota on that horrible night. Nowhere near being a bad line of a song: quite the opposite. John at his direct and succinct best. If ever a line from a song truly resonated with people, it was "all we are saying is give peace a chance."
