What do you all think about Paul having a one-time concert Wings reunion with Denny Laine, Steve Holley and Laurence Juber? I would love to see this! #BackToTheEgg

Nancy, Like your idea especially since you emphasize that it would be a 1 time show. One major benefit is that it would potentially push Paul to do many Wings' songs that he hasn't played since the historic Wings Over America tour in 1976. And since Juber and Holley would be an integral part of the band lineup, Paul might do some late period Wings' songs that were only done in a very abbreviated Europe tour in 1979. This kind of show could potentially have a setlist that would include songs from Back to the Egg and London Town. Both albums have "never" been part of a Paul Setlist once he started touring again after Flowers in the Dirt in 1989. As we know, Paul's setlists has been dominated by Beatles and Band on the Run Wings' songs. The possibility of this happening is, in my opinion, very remote. The only possibility would be as Nancy suggests, as a one time show. Paul made a great decision in 2002 to start touring with a younger band. It gives a higher level energy to Paul's shows that grueling worldwide tours must have. His current band is great and they are also very mature people (remember the problems that Paul had with his Wings Over America Band...Jimmy and Joe. Paul will continue to use his current band as long as they want to do it and Paul wants to continue to tour. Do I like the idea of Paul getting together for a one time show with Denny, Laurence and Steve. Yes, I would love it just to hear a whole bunch of great Wings' songs that you haven't heard Paul do in a long time or in some cases, never done live. Do I think there is any possibility? Unfortunately I think not. Paul doesn't seem to ever look back when it comes to former band members. Also, to do a show like this "well" would take a lot of rehearsing. Again, it doesn't seem to be in Paul's nature to go away from the Beatle songs he knows in his sleep and relearn a lot of old Wings' songs.

Being a Wings fan first I'm not keen on the idea at all. Much as I'd love to see Paul & Denny collaborating again (be it on stage or in the studio) without Linda it just wouldn't be Wings. And with the passing also of Henry and Jimmy there can be no reunion of the two most popular and interesting line ups of Wings. So the thought of the final and least interesting line up of Wings reuniting, minus Linda,.....well,I think we should leave the past to the past. 🙂

I have seen Denny Laine perform recently. Something I do not wish to do again.

I just saw him last Friday and was pleasantly surprised at how good he was! The crowd I was with seemed to agree. He got 2 standing ovations. Check out my thread with photos. http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=91991

I'd love to see this. And just as BJ said...if for nothing else maybe just so that Paul sees that his other songs actually do work & fans actually do enjoy them! But as we all know...this will never happen.

I've never been the biggest fan of Denny Laine, but without doubt, he is the second biggest influence on Wings over the entire journey...... and by some way.... and did contribute the occasional good tune..... throw in the amiable Steve Holley and Juber, and strangely, this idea does have some wings..... I could never see it happening, however, and it is very left-field (although me being a left-hander, shall I say right-field).... but it's not totally crazy.... interesting proposal, I must say. Very interesting.

I guess it would be impossible to get Joe English on board, right? I think Paul should reunite the band from 89 - 93 for a short tour in the winter, focusing on songs from Flowers, OTG and B-sides. Not sure if Chris Whitten or Blair Cunningham should be drumming, but Wix is still in the band, and it would be great to have Robbie and Hamish back. Maybe Elvis Costello could join them??

for a Wings reunion, I would probably prefer Denny Seiwell on drums.

Bruce Springsteen did this with the original E-Street Band (his first two albums ) and it was great. Paul should invite all the former Wings members (1971-1981) and just do Wings numbers for a couple of shows. AND for the love of god, no Beatles tunes allowed.

In Scotland, it is common to hear the phrase, "We're all Jock Tamson's Bairns", meaning "we're all the same under the skin" or "we are all God's children".

This would be great, but I'd be amazed if it ever happened. I can't speak for Paul in any way, shape or form, but I bet he would see a Wings reunion without Linda just like a Beatles reunion without John or George.

As far as I'm concerned, the closest we'll ever get to a Wings reunion is if Paul finally decides to bring the ol' ric back out on stage...LOL
