Might have to take the 8 year old with me....so no imbibing at The Cavern.... Last time I was there I was slightly pished after going for a lunchtime drink and getting caught up in Wednesday's live Beatles music.....1 pm I entered and it was dark when I left....hic!
It will still be a grand time I'm sure! Take it as it comes and make the best of it. I wish I could be there during Beatles week!
Speaking of Beatles weekend, I just saw the most ridiculous thing. The Liverpool Echo (the city's newspaper) has a special cover to honor the 50th anniversary of the Beatles this weekend. And guess what the image is: An Imagine Peace cover designed by Yoko Ono. Does Liverpool not know that: 1. Imagine is NOT a Beatles song. 2. Yoko is not a flipping Beatle 3. The 5oth anniversary of the Beatles should maybe, just possibly be about ... THE BEATLES?? How does Imagine Peace reflect the contributions of John, Paul, George or Ringo working together as a group? Good god, this is annoying.
The echo isnt even printed in Liverpool anymore,i havent bought it in years its a terrible newspaper nowadays so yeah Yoko gatecrashing the 50th with their help doesn't surprise me

It is something every Beatle fan has to do once....go to the old city.....Matty Street, The Grapes, The Philharmonic, The Cavern, LIPA, Forthlin Road, Mendips and The Magical Mystery Tour bus.....etc etc. My son's excited, but he don't know how much walking's going to be involved yet..... The Cavern music scene is very good, the three solo singers I saw were flipping brilliant that day.
I tend to stay away from town this time of the year its better doing the "tour" in the autumn as like you say there's a fair bit of walking involved and its just a little bit quieter and for my money nicer in say the autumn.
-
I like going in the autumn too hengirl, but I've been promising myself that I'd do Beatle week one year and everytime something crops up....hopefully not this time though....
-
It's nice to know somebody loves me Nancy, thank you....I'm feeling a bit down at the moment.
-
She's very manipulative....very clever actually.

I was going to do it myself a few years back with my sister but something cropped up and that day we didnt end up going if i remember rightly it was a scorcher so in the end it worked out as i hate it being to hot. The only thing we havent done is the mystery tour bus, because as my husband rightly pointed out i was born 5 miles from the city centre and while im sure its good its just a bit touristy but one day, that being said on the way to the Echo Arena last December circumstance took us through Litherland passing walls with paintings of the 4 of them staring out at you it just added to the evening.

EVERY interview Paul does is beatle me this & beatle me that.
This is so true and annoying for all of us who loves his solo carrer too. A big example about it is last year when he was in Sweden there was an interview with him in a paper and he got the question, "what do you like to do in your spare time?" I can't believe how but he managed to from that same question go to saying that the movies about Beatles rarely stick to the true story. It can almost be a sport to Paul, "how many times can I mention Beatles without getting asked"

Yeah, thanks a lot, Mrs. Pepper. Kisses from China across the .....say Pacific Ocean or the entire European Continent? But actually I prefer you call me Oceanary, I typed my username wrong when I was doing the registration and I'm still wondering if I could change it
Thanks for your message Oceanary, actually I thought u were called oceanary and I typed it that way at first, then deleted and changed it 'cause I saw it was spelled differently. You could try and e-mail one of the mods to ask if your name can be changed or sign up for a new account and start from the beginning. Anyway have fun on here! And be careful, this place is very addictive
Ha, I know this place is just as addictive as Paul's music.

Hi, we cannot change your username but you can open another quickly with your intended spelling before you get too many posts associated with this account. We would then disable this username. By all means PM me by using the button below in my post for more assistance. Martin

If you don't like being hot, don't do the mystery tour bus in the summer! The air conditioning on the bus was out and I thought I would literally pass out it was like an oven in there! Hope they got it fixed, but somehow I doubt it.

This was the hottest summer (this was July 2006) on record there I think--literally almost 100 every day and about 140 in the tube. (you do the math to convert to Celsius!)

getting back on topic here......you know that theory that we all have about 'concert vocals sounding better when you are actually at the gig than in retrospect via an actuall recording...? well yes it is sort of true...but then folks i want re-introduce you all with a date in my history 16th jan 1990..my first of 9 macca gigs,,i though he sounded amazing..he was pushing 50 [sort of]....infact i have heard many people on here convinced that mccartney was actually sounding better on his tours in this century rather than circa 1990. listen and weep all you negative nillies..
this is an awesome vocal of hey jude...now thats when paul could still sing his signiture babies good...no comparisson to anything he has offered at a piano in this century. and if your still not convinced at how amazing paul[and band] sounded refresh yourself with this... -

cheers friend... can bring a tear to a cynic like me a song like this sung like this [the long and winding road]
-
in the interest of fair play i have to add the maybe im amazed sounded every bit as bad as i remembered
so its a fact then, even back then when he was still singing great, pauls biggest problem was his own editing in a live context! -

I agree certain songs were sweeter back in the late '80's and early '90's, but the screaming vocals were lacking back then, he struggled through Maybe I'm Amazed in '89/'90 like he does today, excruciatingly so, 2002/03 it was much improved. (Maybe I'm Amazed 1990)
(Maybe I'm Amazed 2002)
