That's great, Kestrel, have you traced your tree back very far? I've been able to do a lot of family history research and it's really interesting, and a great hobby. I think it would be wonderful if Paul or RIngo could appear on one of the "Who Do You Think You Are" or "Finding Your Roots" genealogy programs.
Briefly (as I don't want to go off topic), I've traced my paternal ancestors back to the 1500's. And on my maternal side, in one particular generation, I am descended from the fourth child from a third marriage. Just as well my ancestors first two wives died. I'm literally here by the skin of my teeth !!
Yes, Paul (and Ringo) would make for a great subject in a genealogy show.

Cool genealogy! I have ancestors who were in Henry VIII's court in the 1500s... maybe we're related, lol. It is amazing to think if any of our ancestors, at any particular time said "Not tonight dear, I have a headache" someone wouldn't exist and the whole course of history would be changed, lol
As for myself, my great-grandmother's first husband died at Andersonville during the Civil War, he was captured by Confederate soldiers and kept in that prison for about 8 months. After he died, my great-grandmother re-married, to my great-grandfather... If the Civil War wouldn't have happened, I wouldn't be here!
Here's a photo of Paul (with Maureen, Ringo and John) at a costume party, in a Civil War uniform... so proud of myself for for finding a way to cleverly stay on topic!

Not sure when or where this was taken, but love the jacket!
4th April 1973....this b/w photo and the one above with Paul at the keyboard are from the London BBC Top Of The Pops recording of My Love. The other photo with Paul & Linda must have been from a couple of years later as Linda is wearing a 'Magneto and Titanium Man' shirt (not sure which one is depicted though) from the Venus and Mars album.
Thanks for the info, Kestrel! He must have liked the jacket so much he kept wearing it for a year or two. It's great we have people here who know or can look up these facts for us, and be our "Paulclopedias"so to speak! lol
You're very welcome,LadyLeslie. I have to say that I'm fascinated with dates, be they dates of recording sessions or of photos etc. Maybe its the (amatuer) family historian in me?

I think Paul's ancestry would be interesting, because there seems to be a difference of opinion between genealogists about where the McCartney family came from... some say Ireland, and others Scotland... I tend to think probably Ireland... but he could have a bit of Scottish and Welsh on both sides.
Ringo could probably find out more about his biological roots too. His legal last name is Starkey, but I remember NancyR posting that his biological father's last name was Parkin (spelling?)
Originally the family’s last name was Parkin and I believe his grandmother remarried a man named Starkey and for some reason everyone changed to Starkey (this was before Ringo was born) It’s all detailed in the unabridged version of Tune In by Mark Lewisohn, including Paul’s ancestry. P.S. Ringo named his daughter Lee Parkin Starkey.

Uh oh, now they’ll accuse Paul of not being PC and/or being a racist becaus he wore a Confederate uniform!
And Ringo is “appropriating” the Middle Eastern culture! I’m sure someone would have something to say about John dressed as a priest too!

I think that is a cute photo of them. People will always have something negative to say. I am pretty much over people 's negativity over something as a photo like this. Looks like they just dressed up for fun to me. Paul looks adorable as always.

In 1967 Gone with the Wind was re-released worldwide in theaters in 70mm, so Paul could have seen the movie around the time of the costume party and became interested in Civil War history because of that. He still seems interested in the subject, he said in an interview not too long ago that he was busy reading a biography of General Ulysses S. Grant, who led the Union forces in the War.
I don't think anyone would ever think any of the Beatles were racist. The idea is ridiculous. They brought people together with their music, and didn't discriminate at all. I think the Beatles refusing to play for segregated audiences during their American tours, and filmed statements they made at press conferences about their support of Civil Rights in the south show they were always very progressive in their thinking, and were on the side of ending discrimination. The Ku Klux Klan made threatening statements against them, because they SUPPORTED equal rights for african-americans. As the years went on, the Beatles continued to support anti-discrimination causes, which Paul and Ringo still support today.

Leslie and Becky, I was being facetious. I was making a statement about the current state of things. I know that the Beatles absolutely were not racist. I hope you guys got that!

Right. Will have to re-read about it, so can’t remember how old Ringo’s dad was when his last name was changed to Starkey.
The unabridged version goes into great detail about all of their ancestries. Most people would get bored and skip ahead, but I thought it was fascinating!

Oh yes, I knew that! Sorry for not making that clear, Nancy. Comments weren't meant for you, they're addressed to anyone else out there who'd want to make a big deal about a costume he wore 52 years ago! But I doubt anyone would.

Paul's touring team, group photo taken (guessing) 2017 tour - end of 2018... could be earlier. Looks like that's the scenic background used on stage at top of photo.
Thought it was a sweet "family photo" so wanted to share it.
Other than the obvious Paul, Nancy, and band members, can recognize a few others that have been with Paul for a while on his tours.
Found this photo on Instagram, posted by a fan.

Here’s another one with the infamous cowboy shirt, circa fall 1968:

And here’s an oldie, but a goodie!
Why do his fingers look so weird?!

I think because his hands are closer to the camera than the rest of his body, his fingers look larger. If it would have been taken farther away, the photo may have turned out different.

I’ve never seen anything later than 1970ish. But I’d bet good money it’s still hanging in his closet in the house in London!

No, to me it looks like his little fingers are doing something weird, like the photo was doctored. Look at his right hand little finger. Wtf?
