I dont know if this has been mentioned but the boxset is now 156 dollars on amazon US up 16 dollars very disappointing doesnt look like its going down.
I noticed that too. It was $90 at first, then $140, now $156. What is going on with this guy? I want it, but won't buy it unless it comes WAY down below $100. Sheeesh! RIDICULOUS!!
Agreed, the price jump is absurd. $100 would be my limit on the deluxe. I'd rather just spend that much money on a concert ticket and see Paul live. Guess I'll settle for the standard release.

Oh for Pete's sake. Paul does not own Amazon. Amazon is worth $120 BILLION; Paul is worth $700 MILLION. Amazon sets its own prices. I'm guessing Amazon didn't think there would be much demand for the deluxe set so it set the initial price at $95. Then there was a huge demand -- the deluxe set jumped right up into the top 20 -- and so the company did what it always does and jacked up the price to $140. And the demand kept up, so they jacked up the price again to $156. Why do you have this bizarre idea that Paul sets the prices at Amazon? Amazon is a cut-throat business that sets prices based on demand. I noticed the deluxe set is still at No. 131 -- at the $156 price. That's a ridiculous price but there must be people out there willing to pay that, and that's what Amazon sets its prices based on: demand.

I bought WINGS OVER AMERICA when it was released in 1977. Then I bought the 3-CD version a couple of years ago. I AM a supportive fan. But now, to be honest, I don't really need the CDs, just all the cool stuff that comes with the music, and that will cost me $150??? Can't MPL sell this directly to fans on his site at a reduced price or something? What is driving up the cost?? There are three books, a program, some photos, that should be about $50, $20 for the CDs and another $10 for the Wings Over the World DVD (which I already have on VHS). There you go. $80 for a cool reissue. A REISSUE!!

Demand is driving up the price. Amazon sees a flood of demand and raises its prices. That's how it makes money. Once demand falls, the price for the deluxe set will fall. And MPL does not have the staff or the delivery network to operate a retail business that could compete with Amazon. Actually there are 4 books in the set, not 3. And there are 3 CDS, plus a DVD. But I totally agree that $80 to $100 is a reasonable price for this set. And we've yet to see whether this site will offer any deals. Instead of blaming Paul (as if he's engineering this -- he's not!) you just have to wait 6 months and this set will be priced normally. Wait a year and you may even get it to $50.

Demand raising the prices normally happens after the release. I've NEVER seen Amazon selling any new product at a HIGHER price than the asking price determined by the artist/label. On the contrary. Pre-order prices may be steeper, especially if the sale price has not yet been determined by the artist/label. If by release date, the artist/label determine a lower price, amzon re-adjusts accordingly. If previously they have offered you at a lower price than that they promise to honour that. So, if on release date this box is sold on Amazon at a high price of £120.00, I'm 95% sure that that will be driven by the artist/label pricing, and NOT be any pre-sale demand.

I agree with what you are saying. But Paul is the public face attached to this, so he is in the front lines! Ha ha! Amazon says if you buy it at $156, and then the price falls before the release date, you will get the difference back. I have a feeling the price will not fall until AFTER the release date. Which is why I will wait this out.

Well of course every label always prices these deluxe sets high. It's like the Beatles setting the retail price for the mono set at $300. But Amazon NEVER offered the mono set at that $300 price. I think MPL priced the Ram deluxe set at $160. But few people actually pay full retail price for any of these sets. I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon and they do this all the time. In fact, they did it on the Ram deluxe set, too. I pre-ordered it for (I think) $75 and as soon as people started pre-ordering, Amazon raised the pre-order price to $110 or something.
-
The whole thing about pricing on amazon.com is that they will beat the lowest price the item can be found at any retailer in the U.S. If the price can be found somewhere else lower than $156, you will see the price drop. Otherwise, it will stay. And if the price goes up, amazon's price will go up too. That's the reality of the marketplace.

Rock Show is now available for pre-order on Amazon on: Blu-Ray for $25 http://www.amazon.com/Rockshow-Blu-ray-Paul-McCartney/dp/B00CG0YLGG And DVD for $21 http://www.amazon.com/Rockshow-Paul-McCartney/dp/B00CG0YMI8/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1366724630&sr=1-3&keywords=rockshow There's also some strange offer from Japan for a Blu-Ray/Book/T-shirt of Rockshow but it seems dubious. Release date: June 11. So there's plenty of time for the price to go up and down.

$21 is reasonable for this DVD. IMO.

Well like I said, it looks dodgy to me. But first you click here: http://www.amazon.com/ROCK-SHOW-BLU-RAY-BOOKLET-T-SHIRT/dp/B00BTCZP9Y And then it says "this item is only available from third-party sellers" and when you click on "these sellers" it takes you here: http://www.amazon.com/ROCK-SHOW-BLU-RAY-BOOKLET-T-SHIRT/dp/B00BTCZP9Y It lists 2 Japanese sites selling this package for $98 and $109 but it doesn't show any images of the T-shirt. Sometimes the Japanese sellers list products before anyone else on Amazon with very sketchy info. So it is possible that they've gotten word of MPL offering a Rockshow "deluxe set" with a T-shirt and a book. But there is no information listed on either of the pages about the product at all. Nothing about the book or the T-shirt, other than saying there will be a book and a T-shirt. It doesn't even list MPL.

Pre ordered the DVD and blu-ray...not making the mistake I did with WOA and waiting...

Me too. We have plenty of time to cancel if we find a cheaper price. And Amazon will give you the lowest price it ultimately offers on Rockshow, once you're pre-ordered. So if the price drops below $25 on the Blu-ray, we'll get the lower price, but if the price rises, we'll still get the $25 price. Win-win.

Dont know if this has been posted, but you can easily find a theatre near you showing Rockshow on the big screen! Hopefully it will be playing somewhere near you anyway. It's playing at a theatre about 6 miles from my house on both Thurs May 16 and Sun May 19!! I'm psyched. Stones and Wings in one month! http://www.rockshowonscreen.com/
-
I paid £10 for a bootleg DVD years ago half decent quality and has a few interviews and also Wings over Oz
