Wings Over America & Rock Show DVD Reissue CONFIRMED
-
^I think that's a valid point...these are fantastic but taking forever. And the release schedule is quite odd...there's no valid reason on God's green earth why Wide Prairie should come out before ANY Wings or Paul albums, and there's no reason anything Paul released from the mid-90s onward (say, Flaming Pie to now) should be released before the older stuff. Ditto for his classical stuff. Ideally, Speed of Sound and V&M will be released together next, followed by Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, London Town, and Back to the Egg (to wrap up Wings), and then Tug of War and go through the rest chronologically. That's what I'd like to see! EDIT: Found this on the SteveHoffman forums in a discussion about this very subject and I have to say, this seems most logical to me: "The Archive Collection was said to be "8-10 titles" - 6 are out, imminent or scheduled. Red Rose Speedway was a #1 album for 3 weeks (in the US - #5 in the UK). If I had to guess why it was skipped in this batch, I would say because Paul didn't want to deal with it right away. (It's said he wasn't crazy about RRS, right?) London Town was a #2 album in the US for 6 weeks. For all intents & purposes, it would have been #1 for multiple weeks were it not for a little thing called Saturday Night Fever. That's 8 titles. Yes, Wild Life is the start of Wings, and Back To The Egg is the end of Wings. That's 10 titles. In my opinion, leaving any of those 4 titles out would be a glaring omission in something named "The Archive Collection". (And notice that the collection would then be "book-ended" by McCartney (I) and McCartney II!) If I were a betting man, and I'm not, I would guess that is where they stop."

I must admit I had assumed / hoped it would be all the albums that got the Archive treatment - in The Paul McCartney Archive Collection - including Wings and solo albums...
-
I hope so, too, but realistically I'd be totally fine if everything up to Tug of War made the cut. After that, while I still love his albums, I would be ok if that was the stopping point as those aren't the ones I tend to listen to as much (with the exception of some tracks from FITD, OTG, and the albums from Flaming Pie through Memory Almost Full).

oh yeah! Mine just arrived!!! Venus & Mars/Rockshow...YES! This is how Paul should have opened the show. (I know about the Kittay factor) but OMG COOL. Long hair at Madison Square...oh yeah.....lovin those satin pants!
-
The original press announcement stated that ALL of Paul's albums would be given an archival treatment. Whether at means something like WOA or BOTR we don't know, but I believe all of the albums were in scope. Maybe things have changed, but that was the original intention.

She's referring to the myth that Mademoiselle Kitty is Linda...but I don't believe that.

Personally, I was glad to discover Best Buy had an 'exclusive' three CD (with the Cow Palace bonus CD) version available and on sale for $14.99...I will eventually spend the $100+ dollars for the deluxe version (so far Ram is the only one I splurged for the deluxe), but wanted to wait it out to see if I can grab it on sale...as for now, the only thing I don't have that I would like from the full deluxe version is the Wings/World DVD

Yes, that is correct...but no myth. She WAS his confidant. I thought you actually meant what did I mean by the satin trousers...lol. ops: Rich n...you can find it (deluxe)at a store on ebay for $103.00.

Has anyone got a link or copy of the original press release ( Summer 2010 ?) about the Archive Collection ? Just wondered if it did say all albums to get the deluxe treatment.....

There must be a thread here somewhere. Try the search function. Maybe from around the 1st reissue was released.

The original release mentioned every album getting the remastered archive collection treatment...NOT deluxe, I think that is why they point it out in each release so far.

Can't wait until they get to 11-17!
-
Am not sure that is an 'official' list - looks more like a wish list. And there is no way they can release 40 albums by 2016
-
The WoA version of Long and Winding Road is GORGEOUS. Wow.
-
Believe it or not, some of the more recent albums have already been remastered and re-released but without the deluxe treatment. For example, check Run Devil Run on Amazon that lists the release date as June 28, 2011, originally release date 1999. That said, the schedule reviewed on here would appear to be erroneous. Just a hunch but I don't think we will see deluxe treatments of anything past Tug of War. Just wish they would put them out faster!

Just got the newly remastered Wings Over America album which is good but not my fave Paul live album but got for collective reasons. After a play in car on my way to work I notice a gap between each track. This isn't great to listen too as it is a live show with an audience and surely Abbey Rd staff could've filled in with audience atmosphere like 'Back in the World' album. A little disappointed. I'll check my original cds of this album for any similar issues. Cheers all. Jim

Beautiful, innit? The Rockshow version is even better!
