THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
-
Am I the only one who is crazy about So Bad (both the song and the video)? Heck, I love all the video material for POP! I think there could easily have been two more hit singles from the album if The Man and Keep Under Cover had been released as well..

No, you aren't the only one. I LOVE So Bad, and its accompanying video. Thought that the song was a perfect Paul ballad. Also love the video for Say Say Say. Unlike others on this forum, I don't see Paul's collaboration with MJ on this album as the nadir of his career. I enjoy The Man, too. No matter what you say about POP as an album, it still contained some good music with Paul's signature pop hooks. Not a great album, but it is one I enjoy on occasion.

Pretty good songs, yeah. I would like to know if 'Say Say Say' was a big hit in its time. I don't know why but I feel it wasn't recognized like it should. 'The Man' is wonderful, and it wasn't released as single!! incredible. I'm not a big fan of PoP but 'Say Say Say' and 'So Bad' are jewels.

Side 1 of POP is pure ear candy. Delicious melodies. Its Side 2 where things start to break down.

You're not the only one! I always liked both.

I love the song and the video so much too

Ive always preferred the Broad Street Version of So Bad But i Love the Video

I can't get into the TOW 2015 remix, sure a lot of details are audible now, but the sound is transistor like to me. I will dig into the original remastered version instead to get that TOW vibe back, which I have loved since I was a kid. POP is another story. I have a new found love for that and find that it is mostly brillant and misunderstood. POP ftw!

I actually agree with you, the Broad Street version is great! Maybe Wanderlust and Ballroom Dancing are better too on Broad Street? Difficult for me to remember, since I haven't allowed myself to listen to Paul's records since 2010 if they aren't new or released as part of the archive project. (It might seem strange, but it generates a huge buzz for me whenever there is a new archive release).

That IS strange, haha. If I know a new reissue is coming, I'll restrain myself from playing that particular album, but not everything. You may never hear "Press To Play" again!! I do like the Broad Street "So Bad."

Spot on, bro.

Wow...in the new interview video with Dean Bradfield, Paul actually sings about 2 seconds of Say Say Say now - albeit in funny voice to contrast how he tried to emulate MJ's vocal style on the recording. Would be amazing to hear Paul sing his middle eight break from that song now: "You Never Ever Worried And You Never Shed A Tear" - the original recording of that line is the best Paul vocal ever I believe - a magic take. On one of his better vocal days in 2015, wonder what it would sound like singing it now? I do believe he could still reach the notes on a good day and when warmed up... : :

As a movie with acting it is not so good, but as a collection of musical performances, Give My Regards to Broadstreet is quite excellent. The album is very good!

Finally received my Tug Of War super deluxe. Terrible customer service from KingsRoad by e-mail. Fortunately the person handling their twitter account was much more helpful.
