THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL

BJ, in the RRS book, it doesn’t list any other singers for Get On The Right Thing . Just Paul and Linda. It was recorded Oct. 14, 1970 in NYC at CBS Studios.
Linda is certainly credited for backing vocals and to me it sounds like her multi tracked. Although right at the very end of the song I think Paul joins her for one line.

I dont know if this was mentioned already but i don't why "Little Woman Love" is included on the RRS bonus disc, since it was released a few years ago on RAM?
Another head scratcher is why the instrumental version of "Tomorrow" is not included on the Wild Life reiussue?

I guess the decision was made by the compiler(s) based on whether to group the tracks by when they were recorded or when they were issued. Little Woman Love is a 1970 Ram session recording but was released with Mary Had A Little Lamb, which was part of the 1972 Red Rose Speedway sessions. This time they've gone with when the recordings were released,

Another one that was duplicated from this year's RRS Bonus disc was "Country Dreamer" which was previously on the Archive Band on the Run bonus disc.
Still I love this new RRS Bonus Disc in the "affordabe" 2 Disc package because of all the complete songs (18 tracks) you get. I have heard almost all the songs over the years but only on Youtube a few times. To have all of them on one disc is great. My favorites in any order are: Best Friend, The Mess, I Lie Around, Country Dreamer, I would only Smile (Denny Laine), Mama' Little Girl, Tragedy, 1882, Thank You Darling and Night Out. And I love hearing Paul's great original vocals on "Live and Let Die" and "Hi Hi Hi" compared to his more current "live" versions.
Very enjoyable Bonus Disc indeed and in my opinion, it is by far the best Archive Bonus Disc in the affordable package so far. As I said, what a Christmas gift Paul gave us to finish off 2018.
Now that Capitol and Paul decided to do Wildlife and RRS, I don't think there is any doubt that the next Archive Deluxe treatment will be London Town and Back to the Egg. Hopefully we will get them this Fall (2019) or for the Christmas season. Obviously there are tons of audio and Video from that late period Wings era. Can't wait.

As Paul is my favourite artist , I pretty much like everything he turns his hand to . I off course like something’s better than others .
Wild life sounds fresher than before with its facelift , but it still sounds to me like a continuation of the “McCartney “ album just with and added band .
I think red rose speedway is as underrated as band on the run is overrated . The beatlesque pop sensibity of songs like single pigeon and one more kiss , I find far more listenable than say let me roll it or 1985 for example .

Good post Stuartshire. I understand exactly what you're saying about RRS being as underrated as BOTR is overrated. I love both albums but the difference is that Paul left off too many of the really good uptempo/rock songs off RRS after the lable turned down the Double Album concept. RRS would have been Paul's "White Album" if the Double Album idea was realized. Today, RRS would have been admired as much as BOTR if it became at the time a "Double Album". Just think of RRS with songs like...The Mess, Best Friends, Hi Hi Hi, I Lie Around, Mama's Little Girl, Night Out, Country Dreamer, 1882, I Would Only Know and LIve and Let Die were also on it along with the great ballads on the original. By the way, I love Single Pigeon...my personal favorite song on the original RRS.

Just got the "Bruce McMouse" teaser from Paul's Website... "Cinematic Premier of the Bruce Mcmouse Show" in selected cimemas arount the World. Teaser # 1 showed the Band finishing off the live version of "The Mess" which looked fabulous. They have a list of the cities where it is playing starting 1/21 I believe.
This fit right in with my post below about Disc 2 of the new mini RRS Archive Set. I'm still loving this disc containing 18 tracks of rare Paul/Wings songs not on any official Paul McCartney Post Beatles/Wings original albums. "The Mess" is the 5th track by the way on this Bonus audio disc.
For those who didn't get the full Deluxe RRS Boxset, this 2 Disc mini set is very affordable purchase in the US at Target for about only $20. While I'm loving the original RRS album, the 2nd set is an absolute gem for true Paul fans.
The thing that this disc has made me realize (and I'm a huge Macca fan) is just how underrated this early Wings' lineup was. Like many other fans, I know how talented Denny Laine was in Wings from the beginning to the end, but I didn't realize how good the late Henry McCullough was as the lead guitarist as well as Denny Seiwell was as his 1st Wings' drummer. Unfortunately, both members decided not to go with Paul, Linda and Denny Laine to Logos Africa for the BOTR sessions and the rest is they say is history.
Speaking of Henry, everyone knows how good his guitar solo was on "My Love" but hearing Henry on all these other songs is solid proof to me of his great playing. He had his own style and it is more "blues" oriented. Just listen to his solo's on "The Mess", 1882, Jazz Street, Best Friend, Big Barn Red, One More Kiss, I Would Only Smile etc. It is a real eye opener for a fan like me. I love his guitar on so many of these songs. It also made me think of how many great guitarists have worked directly with Paul over the years like Jimmy, Laurence Juber, Robbie, David Gilmour, Mick Green and now Rusty and Brian. What a talented group with their own styles but I would probably never had included Henry until these new Remasters. He was great and it is a shame he is not around to see this new Box Set.
Denny Seiwell was also an excellent drummer who was also Paul's drummer on the critically acclaimed Ram album. Now that the RRS 2 Disc Mini Set has wet my appetite I am now checking on the Internet for Deluxe sets for good deals. I hear that Amazon has reduced both Box Sets. Now I'm interesed after hearing many of these underrated and rare tracks from this very underrated era and beginning of Wings.

One omission I made in my last post was “ loup ( 1st Indian on the moon ) love so much of RRS , but this is filler in the extreme . BJ , when you mention songs like “the mess “ which is fantastic , how does that get omitted in favour of “ the loup” ?!
-
“The Mess” is a fantastic track . So well written , similar to band on the run with the “ more than one song in the song “ structure .
Amazing that it didn’t make the album , and even more so that the studio recording has never seen the light of day . When you listen to how well rehearsed the live performance is , it’s hard to believe the studio cut isn’t tight as well .

Couldn't agree more stuartshire. "The Loop" is a flat out dud in my opinion when you compare it to 6-8 of the songs that were passed over when the decision was made that RRS would only be a single album. At that point in the album, RRS needed some uptempo, rock type songs and it ended up with the "loop" and the "medley". Terrible choices in my opinion.
-
Totally agree about Loup (1st Indian on the Moon), but will defend with my dying breath the Medley. Was it the Abbey Road medley? No of course not, but I'll take Lazy Dynamite over Mean Mr. Mustard every day of the week. And IMO, Power Cut ends Red Rose Speedway perfectly; to incorporate all four mini-songs from the Medley in the final minute was well, Beatlesque. "Be I love you so, be I love you so"

I agree! Now this would be another one he could still sing!
"Hold me tight squeeza me tight
Hold me tight hugga me right"

Yeah , loup is unfathomable when there was so much better stuff to chose from .
I really like the medley tracks though .

I'm the opposite, I really like Loup and don't like the medley.

Loup a disruptive addition and the Medley could've been compressed into a four and a half minute song and it would've been magic.

Just returned from a 10 Day vacation to see my 1 month old Grandchild in Boston (my first one) and Atlantic City NJ. When I flew home yesterday morning, it was about 8 below zero with the chill factor. For that reason alone, I'm glad to be home in sunny Tampa where it was a fantastic 65 degrees. Just wished that my Daughter and Aiden (grandson) could have flown back with me.
Been away from my car CD over this trip so it was so nice to drive for coffee and hear the disc that was playing before I left (Bonus 2nd Disc from the special Target package). Still can't believe that Paul had so many very good to great songs that didn't make the original RRS album. Should had been a Double CD as I have said. Anyway, loved hearing so many songs that I have missed over my 10 day vacation like "The Mess, Best Friends, Mama's Little Girl, I Would Only Smile, I Lie Around, 1882, Live and Let Die, Tragedy, HI Hi Hi etc etc.

Welcome back! How long did it take you to get through security with so many TSA workers calling out? Now I know why you haven’t been replied to my PM!
Congrats on your grandson! My daughter is trying to get pregnant and if they have a son they talked about naming him Aidan (the other spelling)

It seems Strange to be honest that Paul deemed Wild Life to be a bigger remaster priority than some of the albums still to be done... He has never been very complimentary of it himself ...

Maybe they are TRYING to go somewhat chronologically?

The fact that they (Paul and Capitol) did Wildlife and RRS tells me that they will continue the "Paul McCartney Archive Collection" over the next several years. There were some rumors after Paul resigned with Capitol that the Archive Series would end but thankfully those rumors were dispelled with WL and RRS. I agree that Capitol and Paul made the right decision to release WL and RRS first since they were the oldest albums that hadn't yet been done. I also think that London Town and Back to the Egg will be next since chonologically it would the the next set of Paul albums. I hope they tag these 2 together since it would move the "Archive Collection" at a faster piece. Like WL and RRS there is so much material (CD's and DVD's) during that late era Wings' period.
As a big Paul fan, here would be some of the "Archives" I can't wait to buy:
* London Town and Back to the Egg Remaster - As said above, there is so much material...before his aborted Japan tour, Paul and band did a series of European concerts featuring "live" versions of "Egg and London Town" material" plus all the extra songs that didn't make either "Egg and London Town" albums etc.
* Off the Ground - another period that Paul had a ton of songs that didn't make the OTG album. Paul even released the OTG Complete Works CD ( I think it was a Japan and the Netherlands Release Only) but it is still a rare item to this day. Paul and his OTG band (including Robbie and Hamish) did a World tour where there are many rare "live" versions I would love to have on a bonus disc.
* Run Devil Run - another short lived but fantastis Band that Paul put together after Linda's death to promote Run Devil Run. Besides a Remaster of the Run Devil Run album, I would love ot have a DVD of their shows and a bonus audio disc of many of these "live" versions plus extra songs that didn't make the final Run Devil Run tracklisting.
*Chaos and MAF as a Set - again you have all the extra songs that didn't make it on either album plus the remastered albums. I hope that MAF specifically would get the "remastering" treatment since there was so much negativity surrounding the overall "production and loudness" of the original MAF CD. Conversely the original MAF vinyl apparently did not have this "loudness" like the CD had.
I just hope that we get these packages every year in the future so it doesn't take forever like the "snails pace" we were getting with the "Archive Collection" releases over the last 10 years. If we get annual new "Archive Collection" releases over the next 4-5 years, it could be very exciting for Macca fans indeed.
