5th-beatle:
Super Deluxe version of Tug Of War seems to be available here for pre-order: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/music/browse/rock-pop/tug-of-war-superdeluxe-edition-2015-reissue/771206/
Don't think so my friend, they also have a 'SUPER DELUXE' on Pipes, so, they are both the regular DELUXE EDITIONS. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/music/browse/rock-pop/pipes-of-peace-superdeluxe-edition-2015-reissue/771210/

Tug Of War all the way. Hopefully, I'll get my hands on the vinyl. However, I'll pass on PoP.
yeah. already pre-ordered TOW. PoP is a pass.

So here's the 'Tug Of War' remix. Other than it sounding very compressed, I can't tell the difference. I'd have to examine the original and compare very carefully. http://www.qthemusic.com/11622/paul-mccartney-premieres-new-tug-of-war-remix-with-q/

I need to hear it EQ'ed before I can be sure of much.

For me it was disappointing, other that clear voice and higher volume, the same as the released one.

As Paul says in the song "We expected more"

Agreed. I don't get this remix at all. And heaven knows, we don't need more compression. : Tug of War has lovely production. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The remix of TOW is majestic. Compression my butt. And put me down as as Pipes of Peace fan. Will be scooping up TOW and POP on day one of release.
-
new mix sounds very majestic, and definitely emphasises the vocals. Exposes some wobbliness too I'm afraid

At the end of the day, I have TOW (also known as Tug Of War) on record, CD and tape.... well, no longer on tape.... who knows where that went.... but whether it is remastered, redefined, re-engineered, re-designed... I don't really care.... it'll still be the same album..... and it will just be the great songs that define it... on whatever "backward" system that created it..... I will buy the new release, not because of the "new" "sound"..... what rubbish when a remaster "redefines" an album.... I will buy it cos of the "new additions"/ "bonus" material.... otherwise, I am happy to pick it out of my "antiquated" collection, and listen to it whenever I want, as I have well over 30 years..... the original sounds just fine to me.... I do love this album. One of my very favorites. My point, I guess... "remasters" are overrated. But I am looking forward to the bonus material.

Maybe the remix is just a technical thing. I'm playing the original LP now and "Tug of War" must be one of his best sounding albums. It's got warmth and depth and... everything. Let's hope the reissue is not prepared too much to meet a modern demand of clinical slickness where you lose something instead of win something. It happens occasionally with remasters. It's a tug of fear... well, one good thing is maybe if individual instrumentation is more highlighted, more details in the soundscape to listen to. I am equally excited about "Pipes of Peace". But it may have more to gain and less to lose?

Very surprised at postings on here as to "what's the point' and "can't tell any difference" on the Tug of War remix... Seriously?? Just heard remix of the title track and it is a REVELATION!! Very different mix on vocal /backing vocals and string backing as well (sounds like alternate string parts appear the new remix). Different sound also in electric guitar/bass/string overall balance & sound when the "In Years To Come" section kicks in. The snippet of Ebony & Ivory remix I heard also sounds amazing - much more defined bass drum and synth sound - sounded like an all new recording. So much better than the usual "remaster" which is just the same old mix with supposedly improved sound that is not even noticeable most of the time. Can't wait to hear the whole remix TOW!!

The remix sounds pretty good, too good almost. But you're right, the original is fine as it is. I'll hang on to my LP.
