Ok so I have never been to Beale st, I have looked at web sites but is there any opinions of the best clubs?? I like blues and when in Rome right?
-
Clubs on Beale: I like Silky's (Silky O' Sullivan's, Irish pub)! Also, Pat O'brien's (they stole from New Orleans) Walk down the street and there are Elvis Impersonators everywhere
-
What about B.B. King's?
-
These are all good clubs. Make sure you check out Rum Boogie as well.
-
How about some BBQ recs? (sorry, vegetarians!)
-
BBQ recs: downtown: Rendezvous - good dry ribs, not my favorite bbq overall tho, but it's the famous one midtown: Central BBQ- my favorite. Great sauce. Actually, I think they have a new downtown location as well. Get some mac and cheese too! midtown: BBQ shop (on Madison)- DELICOUS meat and sauce. Good quality. Very close to being my favorite, at times it edges out Central. East Memphis: Corky's: it's decent. But further down the list. Probably because they also have it in New Orleans.
-
Another place to try, if you like beer: The Flying Saucer. All different kinds of beer, like a million different kinds.
-
All good recommendations for BBQ (I especially like BBQ Shop and Central BBQ). If on Beale Street also check out Blues City Cafe for some BBQ. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g55197-d489617-r118720997-Blues_City_Cafe-Memphis_Tennessee.html

I was in BB Kings in Nashville recently and I liked that location really well, I did not eat there just drank a couple, the blues were very good that day.
-
Club 152 on Beale is where we are having our pre/post Macca board meetups. Music being provided by a great local British Invasion band, Jeffrey and the Pacemakers.
-
Sounds like a plan thanks Fletch, what time are we meeting prior to the show?
-
Everyone should plan on meeting up at Club 152 around 5PM. Dinner/drinks then. At 6:15 I will give me memories of seeing the Beatles here in Memphis. Jeff and the Pacemakers take the stage at 06:45 or so. They will be playing at the post gig meetup as well.
-
Sounds like it's gonna be a great time! Hopefully the weather is pretty decent that day, to hang out on Beale and do some walking. I was there last month, and it was pretty nice. Been there in August when it was 100F+, but I heard May's not that bad.

yeah, you're not kiddin'! in st. louis last november, it down-poured the ENTIRE night. i never have been in so much rain. i drove 5 hours in the rain, walked 10 minutes in it, then drove 5 hours back in it. but i won't let it stop me. at least fedex forum is indoors and not a ballpark without a roof.

oh i cant wait to go. see a great town, lots of history and music, and Paul. L.I.G.
-
like wise, I am excited to see the city as well as Paul. I have alwayss wanted to check out Beale St and Graceland.

Congratulations on the Regina show, Dana! This seems to have been the go-to gig for those of us who were waiting for something close to home.

I hope there is not going to be problems with flooding in Memphis, I know a couple years ago it was flooded pretty good.
-
Right now the forecasters are not expecting any problems with flooding - especially comparable to what was seen back a couple of years ago. Even then, the water was only reaching the base of Beale Street - far from the clubs and the FedExForum. We'll be good to go for the show!
