2017 Setlist Speculation Thread

I doubt this has anything at all to do with the set. In the back of my mind, I can't help but think about Ringo's birthday. However, I'd imagine this has to do solely with the fact that Miami and Tampa never produced a necessity for additional shows so they're simply cutting costs and closing the gap between Miami and Tampa on the tour itinerary and calling it "production enhancements".
It's so they can rehearse Let Me Roll It a couple more times :
Let's hope it's because he's getting rid of that stupid little stage he only uses for 2 songs! When I pay for 3rd or 4th row seats I don't want to have to have binoculars to see him! I remember being in the 2nd row of a couple major concerts and being able to lean over and shake the hand of the artist! (I'm showing my age, I know!)
____________________________________________________________ You guys are giving me a good chuckle with the "Let Me Roll It" comment. Regarding my previous 4-5 Seconds post, my comments regarding the Desert Tour last Fall might have been off base. Maybe there were far more boomers at those shows than I realized. The fact that he had Rihanna as a guest performer would certainly necessitate him adding 4-5 Seconds to Setlist. I still get back to him continuing to play 4-5 Seconds this year for the US Shows. I'm getting old so my hearing may not be as good these days but I still feel his vocal from the 4/27 Tokyo video was quite bad. I like the R&B guitar riff and overall melody (Paul's contribution to the song!) but he just can't sing this kind of style any more. The good thing is that it is short and the band comes in for most of the song. Still concern that it might become a "poster child" for the status of Paul's 2017 voice. I can see all kinds of "sites" putting it on the Internet. People love to put a "Star" down just to generate hits. While Paul has all kind of troubles with singing MIA, it still has the sentiment factor and it is a "signature" song. As regulars know, I'm all for Paul adding songs after 1980 to the Setlist. I loved "Here Today" the first time I heard it live (I think the 2002 tour) but it was all about the sentiment and Paul could sing it beautifully. Am I being too paranoid? A Beatle song like "I've Just Seen a Face" or better yet a Solo song like "Put it There" would be far less risky.

Just saw where there is a schedule change for the Miami Show. Due to what Paul's team calls "Production Enhancements" the show in Miami has been moved up from 7/5/17 to 7/7/17. Miami, of course, is the initial show for the US segment of the tour. My first thought was that maybe this would give some of us hard core fans a little hope that there might be some setlist changes. The more I think about it however, I have to wonder how just 2 days would result in any significant changes. If anything, it might be 1 or 2 songs. Then again, it might have nothing to do with actual setlist changes from Tokyo. Any thoughts?
It just seems weird to me for them to out nowhere declare "production enhancement" changes to delay the show by two days. If they knew that, then why just initially schedule the show in Miami on the 7th? If anything, this really throws a wrench into many people's travel plans. Many people in Miami thread are already saying they can't go to the show now because of this change.
It's terrible for some of the people that can't make it to Miami now. What can be done with 2 extra days? It's a couple months from now. Why would they need 2 days for "production enhancements" ?

Maybe they're getting rid of that rising stage so people who shell out for front row actually get in the FRONT ROW! Just venting! I've done front row once and would never, never do it again being placed as far back as one is now. In reality, I seriously doubt this would necessitate a 2 dey "production delay". I feel for those whose plans are disrupted. On topic...Can a production delay mean more than a minor shake-up in the setlist???

I don't know what 2 days will do. Very strange. I just hope it actually is for something good rather than just a made up excuse.

I just find it funny that a rock icon and band he has toured with for over a decade would really need much time to rehearse 4-5 different songs into a set list and require delaying the start of the tour.

The launch of this leg wasn't delayed due to rehearsals. It was supposedly delayed due to "production enhancements".

I know, he's needing the 2 extra days to teach it to sing Four Five Seconds for him!

I can bet (!) that we'd both like the robot Nancy, because that may mean he'd do Appreciate.

Found this blog the other day; the Summerfest show last year was the writer's first Paul concert. The stories that some here are tired of sounded fresh and wonderful to her. And why "Something" and "Here Today" are not leaving the setlist any time soon. After being in amazement for the first half of the show, I got emotional when he started telling stories of his fellow Beatles. His status as a celebrity started to fade away when the audience got to hear the stories of him and George sitting on the porch singing songs and playing their ukuleles, as well as the time when McCartney found out about John Lennon's death and how he only knew how to express his feelings about it with a song. http://summerfest.com/blog/2017/05/18/sir-paul-mccartney/

For everyone here that are both Beatle and Paul McCartney fans, the new Sirius "All Beatles" channel (channel eighteen) is absolutely terrific. Discussions and descriptions are over in the "Yesterday Section" of this Site. What I love is the diversity of the playlist. Obviously they play the Beatle hits but they are playing great deep cuts, rare cuts, Solo songs from all 4, live cuts etc. I have to admit that for radio they are playing far beyond the hits and it has surprised me. I was just entering and parking at Walmart to pick up some needed things and all of a sudden, Sirius played one of my all time "deep" Beatle tracks. In fact it was unreleased (except for a Billy J Kramer cover) until Live at the BBC. The song is "I'll Be On My Way" an early Macca song that he and John gave away. Hearing this song just made me realize how great of an addition it would be to Paul's Setlist sandwiched right between In Spite of All the Danger and Love Me Do. It would not only be a surprise for the audience but it is a song that again Paul can easily sing (along with his Band). As I have recently said, the ease and ability to sing it is crucial at this time of Paul's Career. This is the lack of imagination that is shown with this setlist. Give the real fans something to look forward to with this 2nd leg of the One on One tour. It fits perfectly with the acoustic portion of the show and Paul can easily sing it. Why is he fooling around trying to do 4-5 Seconds when he sings it badly. As you know, I'm not one who would be pushing Paul to do another Beatle song but in this case I would love it since it has never been sung live before. And I can hear "first timers' saying as they are leave the arena...I don't remember that song but I love it. It is such a happy, classic Macca melody. I defy any real fan who can read the lyric below without singing it. The Sun is fading Away That's the end of the Day As the June light turns to moonlight I'll be on my Way Just one kiss and I'll go Don't hide the tears that don't show As the June light turns to moonlight I'll be on my Way To where the winds don't blow And golden rivers flow This way will I go They were right, I was wrong True love didn't last long As the June light turns to moonlight I'll be on My Way, hey

Add "On The Wings of A Nightengale" and this song to the acoustic part of the show and it would be wonderful additions.
-
Yankeefan, I hear you about "On the Wings of a Nightingale"...great song and it would be yet another terrific possible addition (and a song he could sing) for the "true" fans. We're getting right back to the "challenging his audience" idea vs. playing the crowdpleasers. I'm just going to wait till the Miami show. If the setlist stays the same, my decision will be made for me. Do you have Sirius and have you heard the new Beatles 24/7 channel.

I've always thought this was a pretty wretched song, and the Junelight/moonlight lyrics are as cringeworthy as the Beatles ever got.
