I met the whole band, except Paul....they were all so nice...so was Heather. Brian was really cool. He actually remembered us from the other Cleveland show we were at. The band and Heather all signed my "Driving Rain" album which was cool..... Here is me and Brian before the second Cleveland show...

Brian and the tambourine in Birthday - love it!! Shelley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Shelley, your pics are great. You are one lucky girl! Everyone seems to be in agreement that Brian is handsome, talented, and a real sweetheart. But does anyone know anything ELSE about him? Come on, somebody........You're bound to know something! Did anybody go to high school with him? Ever been married? Got kids? Scared of spiders and snakes???? Hates carrots? We want to know the SERIOUS stuff here!

Thanks! They were all soooo nice!
-
Shelly, WOW you had a photo taken with each band member! Way to go! And autographs, too? That was a special night for you! Dreamseer, LOVE the new avator!! I saw that series of photos on the web. NICE! Why is it so hard to find personal information about Brian??? We need a Q&A about him similar to what Rusty posted on his website. Inquiring minds want to know..... My guess? He is single, in his mid 40's and what maybe 5'10"???. Where is he from? I've read either Colorado or Illinois. He probably is ok around spiders but hates snakes. Also, he probably eats his carrots because I've never seen him in glasses!!!

Yes it was amazing! I will certainly never forget it....my dad and I were in Cleveland at like 9:30am and I skipped class to be there (shhh....) LOL We even called Rusty and Wix's rooms to talk to them and they said they would come down, which is how we met them....Wix even apologized for being late!!! Brian and Abe, we just ran into them while at the hotel.....and Heather sat right in front of us at the show...we were in the front row, and she sat on the other side of the barricade. She was literally like 6 inches from me all night.....and she was such a complete sweetheart...her body guard said not to talk to her or ask her to sign anything, but all I did was hold out my album with a sharpie and Heather literally ran over from where she was talking to someone and signed it and thanked me for asking her and said 'you're welcome' about 6 times!! FYI...I am 5'1, and Brian is quite a bit taller than me here:

Way to go Shelly!! Absolutely awesome! I had read your story on the Cleveland thread (I believe) right after your experience and was so excited for you.... Way to go!!! And I like what Brian's wearing in your pic much better than in mine! Oh! Darling - When he went to the Cavern party, he appeared to be alone, for whatever that's worth.... or maybe I just didn't see his date.

Thanks JayJay!! He really was very sweet! (And pretty darn cute too!) ANd he remembered us because we had front row seats at the first Cleveland show and were in fron of him! And yes, I'm sure you read my story on the Cleveland thread! It was crazy!! How cool you got to go to Liverpool! Isn't it amazing???? I went there and London back in March as a college graduation present from my parents!! My pics are posted too, at the link below....nothing you haven't seen before, though I' m sure!!

Yes, he was an absolute sweetheart! And he is definately a cutie pie; reminds me of a little boy. Liverpool was an experience beyond belief.... Something I've wanted to do for nearly 25 years, and Paul doing a gig there was just icing on the cake! I'll remember that trip for as long as I live. And I met so many wonderful people there, and our boardie get-together at the Adelphi was absolutely fab!! I was checking out your pics yesterday and in the middle of a post to you when my 2 year old just turned off the computer! They are wonderful pictures and it's always nice to see what shots others got. You have some really cool parents!

OH! Darling:
Where is he from? I've read either Colorado or Illinois.
I have this vague memory that during one of the Driving USA shows (Oakland or San Jose), he said that his family was multi-generation Californian...does this ring any bells for anyone else? If anyone is brave enough to look, it might be buried somewhere on Jorie's first-leg tour page... Oh, and I think there's more info on Brian from one of the concert programmes - each band member talks about their favorite driving songs, what kind of car they drive (I think Brian said a Lexus of some sort - Abe drives a Ford Bronco and Rusty drives an old...Firebird? I think whatever's on his website), etc.
-
Thanks, Oh Darling, for the kind words about my avator. I won't tell you how long it took me to make it fit, but, if I had been paid by the hour, my upcoming vacation would be PAID IN FULL! I think your theories about Brian are pretty good. If my facts are right, he's 48. My guess is 5'10' - 6'. I think maybe he lived in Colorado at one time, but I think he's originally from California. And I don't have a clue how Brian feels about spiders, snakes, or carrots! Odds are, though, that he ate most kinds of veggies while on the road w/Paul. I agree....each one of the band members needs to do a Q & A like Rusty did. There's much more info out there about Abe & Wix....just none about Brian. How about it, somebody? Can you help us out? We do have inquiring minds!!

If anyone is brave enough to look, it might be buried somewhere on Jorie's first-leg tour page... OK, I had to go back and look just to get our facts straight. At the Chicago show, he said "hi to everyone he had not seen since high school." At the Denver show, he acknowledged his family who had driven up from Durango to see the show. I didn't find any CA comments so it's still a mystery where Brian is originally from. Dreamseer, 48 years old, huh? Do you know a birth date? I did read that he joined Etta James right after high school. He was part of her band in 1975 whenever they played at the Montreux Jazz Festival so 48 sounds about right. JayJay and Shelly, y'all have convinced me that Liverpool will be the place to be for the next tour. I made it to 4 of the other BITW shows but Liverpaul (to borrow a phrase from Brian) sounds like it was the most fun....for Paul, the band and especially for the fans.
-
OH Darling, I believe that Brian's birthday is Jan. 4th. I don't remember where I read that, though. I know he was with Etta James in '74, so I figure he can't be more than 2 years younger than me, since I graduated in '72. But, I seem to recall that it gave the year he was born as 1955. Wish I could remember where I saw that. I do recall that he stated that his dad was from Oakland. But, that doesn't mean he lived in California. This guy is quite a mystery, it seems!

Oh good - so I'm not totally losing it. True, it doesn't mean that Brian is Californian...but at least this convoluted young brain of mine isn't making things up. That's always a good thing. Amazing...to go play with Etta James just after you graduate from high school! That's like Abe being asked go on tour with Barry Manilow (I think that's who it was) after he graduated from high school! I can't believe Brian is 48...he doesn't seem that old!

Barry Manilow??? That's too funny!! Barry Manilow actually has an amazing voice but I just can't picture Abe drumming with Barry... Now to address the Brian being 48 thing.... ahem, excuse me but..... some of are near that age and don't consider ourselves old!! Let's be considerate to the elderly here, ok? I'm not quite there yet, but my hubby is... Paul is 61 and he's not old either... it's all in the mind.

If Paul plays Liverpool again, I'll be there again! It wasn't just the show, it was the whole atmosphere of a city welcoming their "man" back home. It was the excitement in the air, the amazing Mersey Beatles playing the Cavern, of going into John and Paul's childhood homes and seeing where much of their music was composed, the excitement of walking down Matthew Street and seeing Brian walking next to me, then realizing Paul was throwing a secret party in the Cavern... the excitement of hoping he would come out, and of course, the gig itself was amazing, and I'll never forget the wonderful people that I met from this site and over there. I have made friends that I hope to keep for a lifetime. It was just an incredible and undescribable experience.

Hey...I have news for all of you. 48 is NOT old! I should know....Been there, Done that! But not too long ago. It's hard to believe that any of these guys are as old as they are. Just watching them on stage wears me out! And Paul does it better than any of the rest of them. At least the other band members get a break during Paul's solo set. He never leaves tthe stage. As for Abe playing w/Barry Manilow.........well, I haven't heard that one before. That is quite a stretch for the old imagination. And don't any of you take off to Liverpool without ME next time! Please???

Who can help this old lady cut and paste text into the grey boxes like you all have done? What's the secret?
