Stones vs. Paul

Plus, they should announce this is their last tour. BUT, they have done that in the past so many times, it rings hollow.
The Stones have never had a "last tour", "final tour", "farewell tour", etc.... Perhaps you're confusing them with The Who, who had a farewell tour, back in 1982. (before reuniting in 1989, and countless times since.)
Not an official one, but I do recall even in 1981 rumors circulating it was their last. And they did not tour again until 89 because of strife between Jagger and Richards. But yeah, to be fair, since then it has been a fairly regular set of tours. This one is being called a "last" tour, but with the Stones, who knows?

. But if the question is who do I like more, I'm a member on this community not the Stones.
let's not forget, the Stones charge for a board such as this.
I pay $20 a year for Elvis' official message board, and I don't get as much out of it as this place.
We paid $60 here & didn't get much either. rimshot! (too busy to go find it)

1981 had rumors.... but those were not started by the band... And they never called it as such. And the new tour is not being called their "last" tour, either. In fact, it's called "50 and COUNTING".... which indicates the opposite to me!

I ve debated buying a stones ticket for chicago. Its about a six hour drive but I cant justify another concert in a weeks time. Already going to see Alice in Chains on the 22nd then Paul on the 26th not to mention Paul again in July

Yeah. And they are having trouble selling out $600 tickets. Hey, I don't have a horse in this race. I love the Stones! I hope they play on and on and on.

The Stones prices are definitely out of control, and as much as I like their music, they definitely deserve the backlash their tour is getting. Paul's tickets are about as high as i can bear. Only a few very select bands I'm willing to spend more than $125-$150 a ticket on...

Agreed there has to be a limit on ticket rices The Stones's argument of high costs for putting a show on may well be true but they make a fortune (as all artists do) on merchandise that are full of the big ticket money items the populate stalls waiting to be bought, any shortfall surely would be made up there.
-
I think Paul's ticket prices are excessive too. I won't pay the high price.
-
Yes Paul's prices are the most I will pay for anyone.
-
There isn't anyone besides Paul that I would pay the $1500 I just did for the hot sound package!

I matched Paul's prices back in 2011 with George Micheal i wont go higher i feel, but nowhere near as dear as The Stones's top prices. Edit i paid the same price for Fleetwood Mac in the coming autumn

Not even if Paul played a backyard barbeque at your house in Albuquerque?!

I am a McCartney fan but I wish he would take the lead from the Stones in one respect, My understanding is that Paul and the boys practice and learn 40 songs for a tour. The Stones learned and rehearsed 80...They also did a song tonight at the tour opening on stage they have never done on stage before ...Emotional Rescue...

Interesting story in The Obseerver today about the Stones' US concerts. Apparently the Stones' ticket sales in the US have been in the toilet -- due to the excessive prices. Faced with the prospect of half-empty stadiums the Stones have had to slash the ticket prices.
Last week the band said it was dropping the price of thousands of premium seats ? "flexing" in industry parlance ? rather than play to half-empty arenas. The situation was so dire, one insider revealed, that the band's own allotment of tickets was released because of a lack of requests. "Total disaster. Too expensive and no vibe on the shows ? it's a terrible way to go out," a source said. He added that the band could hardly refuse if their reputed $20m fees for the tour were revised. "What's the band gonna do? Say we're not going to play if you touch our gross?"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/may/04/rolling-stones-face-pay-cut-ticket-prices-slashed I'm astounded by how much the Stones were charging: $170 for a cheap seat (!!!) and $635 for a top price (not including VIP packages of course; and the Stones offered 1,000 tickets at each venue at $85 and those sold out right away but the vast majority of the seats at each show were at these exorbitant prices). By that standard Paul's prices (from $57.50 for a cheap seat up to $250) look downright reasonable. And it looks like Paul's shows have all been selling really well. Here's another story in the Evening Standard about the Stones' LA show. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/celebritynews/just-too-expensive-rolling-stones-face-playing-to-empty-seats-at-us-concert-8601984.html
To fill Staples Center, promoter AEG has begun lowering prices. More £55 tickets are being made available, the band said on its Rollingstones.com website, with some lucky fans getting cut-price tickets for the most expensive seats. ... ?By the time the show starts, they?ll fill every seat at the arena ... It just won?t be with people who paid $600 a seat.?
So some lucky people got $600 seats for $55 so that the band could fill the stadium. Pretty big embarrassment for the band.

^^ wonder if they'll need to cancel any shows like Paul (his people) did to Horsens.

Just putting it all in perspective. *shrugs* I'm sure the Horsens people would have gladly bought more tickets at a reduced price.

Stones won't cancel.... but they will discreetly start lowering prices (take blocks of unsold tickets that were originally $600, and re-price them as cheaper tickets....) Maybe Groupon type discount offers too, though that would look pretty embarrassing for a band like the Stones.
