Surprising that two current movie offerings are based on novels I read, "Juliet, Naked" by Brit author Nick Hornby (great read) and "The Wife" by Meg Wolitzer (ditto, but infuriating premise) that stars Glenn Close. "Juliet, Naked" stars Rose Byrne and Chris O'Dowd, two Brit acting favorites of mine; and Ethan Hawke (when I read that I thought "not him again!" who has explained he needs to get in a lot of movies to pay child support. Not a scintillating, enticingly artistic reason. The film makers must have thought he'd be good in this part, playing an elusive indie style folk rockie musician who fell from the beaten pack. Super fan Chris O'Dowd tracks him down and brings him home, which the obsessed fan comes to really rue. Byrne plays O'Dowd's non-fan wife who's sick of hearing about Ethan's sort of legendary folk rocker, and lo, then he pops up at her very own house...I'd like to reveal more of the intriguing story, but don't want to be a spoil sport!
Glenn Close is racking up awards season buzz for "The Wife" which I'm certain she plays with zest to the zenith. Another Brit actor, whom I'd thought long gone from the scene, acts in this as her aggravating bookish grand prize nominated writer hubby (he also plays at being a writer, but that's too telling a hint), I'll cite him here later. His name eludes me right now. I think he was in an 80's flick with Robert De Niro I really, really hated; its title escapes me presently, but I'll find out.

I recently saw a preview for Hell's Fest. That one looks really spooky for Halloween.
I also saw a preview for one called Night School. That one looks funny!

Bradley Cooper's remake of "A Star is Born" with Lady Gaga should win all five top Oscars in all top categories, according to a "Variety" review. The trailer does make the movie look more imposing than expected. Yet when I read that extreme praise I thought, "This must not be such a great year for movies, so far." Cooper's acting is much better than Kris Kristofferson's, but the latter looked like the most gorgeous man on the planet in his outing of the classic, with the campy but at times touching Barb Striesand, and one doubts Cooper sings as well as Kris K. Lady Gaga appears to have more acting chops than expected. I could tell Cooper turns in a stirring, stirling performance. I'll probably want to sit through this one twice in a row (plus, it featrues a lot of music). And there's the strong curiousity factor, wondering what they did with the classic story of "A Star Is Born" this time around.

I really want to see this! Who knew Bradley Cooper could sing? Lady Gaga said she was impressed! And I knew she could act - she was on one of the American Horror Story seasons.

Hello fellow Beatles fanatics! I really believe that you will like reading about this.
AT LAST, THE TRUE STORY OF HERVE VILLECHAIZE IS FINALLY TOLD!
I know that all of you know who Herve Villechaize is! Herve is better known as the villian Nick Nack in the 1974 James Bond film THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and Mr. Roarke's assistant Tattoo in the highly successful television series FANTASY ISLAND which aired from 1977 to 1984.
There is a new movie out by HBO about Herve entitled MY DINNER WITH HERVE! All I will say is that you have to see this movie to believe it! You would never think that a little Dwarf could f*ck everything up so bad that he would end up taking his own life on 4 September 1993 at age 50. Yet, sadly, Herve would end his life before his time. HERVE WAS A WILD SOB to put it mildly! You would never believe that Herve was a womanizer, HE WAS! You would never believe that Herve could blow thousands and thousand of dollars on parties, HERVE DID! Herve lived hard and paid dearly for it.
You have to see the movie to believe it.
Here are some trailers for the movie, enjoy!

I watched it when it premiered on HBO. Excellent portrayal by Peter Dinklage as Herve. (He is fabulous on Game Of Thrones as Tyrion Lannister!) Fun fact: He was also in the movie Death At A Funeral which also co-starred Jane Asher! Hysterical movie!

Hi Nancy! Yes, Peter Dinklage is an outstanding actor that portrayed Herve down to the bone. I LOVED DEATH AT A FUNERAL, Dinklage was hilarious!

I'm looking forward to the movie musical "Cats" the Andrew Lloyd Webb musical sometime in December, and to "Sing 2" sometime next year. Music stars Jennifer Hudson and Taylor Swift are in "Cats" and some well known actors like Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McEllen, Idris Elba. Rebel Wilson's in it. Of course, Hudson can act as well as sing. Taylor Swift's face has always reminded me of a pussy cat's. I want to see the new movie in which Kevin Costner speaks the dog's part throughout. It's out now, or very soon. I enjoyed the last movie I saw that starred a dog.

I want to see the "Little Women" new film version by Greta Gerwig and "Last Christmas" starring Game of Thrones sensation Emilia Clarke and "Crazy Rich Asians" star Henry Golding and Emma Thompson, the latter a Brit romantic comedy. It's (the trailer) been reviewed by a young Net movie critic who called Emilia Clarke "not the usual kind of leading lady" and wondered what she meant by that. Clarke is charming, funny, cute and pretty in the trailer. The movie looks a bit corny, but I'm a sucker for romantic comedies. Brit movie makers are always keen for the kind of success Brit comedies "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Love, Anyone" enjoyed, and sort of copy their styles.
Soairse Ronan and Timothee Chalumet star as iconic characters Jo March and Laurie in Gerwig's "Little Women" and Laura Dern plays Marmee and Meryl Streep, Aunt March. Emma Thompson plays one of the March sisters. The other two sisters are played by unknowns or little knowns who are charming in the trailer. Everyone is.
