I want to see the "Little Women" new film version by Greta Gerwig and "Last Christmas" starring Game of Thrones sensation Emilia Clarke and "Crazy Rich Asians" star Henry Golding and Emma Thompson, the latter a Brit romantic comedy. It's (the trailer) been reviewed by a young Net movie critic who called Emilia Clarke "not the usual kind of leading lady" and wondered what she meant by that. Clarke is charming, funny, cute and pretty in the trailer. The movie looks a bit corny, but I'm a sucker for romantic comedies. Brit movie makers are always keen for the kind of success Brit comedies "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Love, Anyone" enjoyed, and sort of copy their styles.
Soairse Ronan and Timothee Chalumet star as iconic characters Jo March and Laurie in Gerwig's "Little Women" and Laura Dern plays Marmee and Meryl Streep, Aunt March. Emma Thompson plays one of the March sisters. The other two sisters are played by unknowns or little knowns who are charming in the trailer. Everyone is.
Did you mean to write “Love Actually?”
-
Yes. I meant to write "Love, Actually." Thanks for catching that

Looking forward to seeing the new Downton Abbey movie. Loved that period in history, great costumes and beautiful Great House.
Also looking forward to the movie the Goldfinch. Saw that painting in the Hague, the movie looks interesting.
Gemini Man starring Wil Smith looks good too. He always does a great job.

Me too! Did you watch the series? I saw (and have on DVD) every episode. My dad was a big fan too, but he passed away after the 1st episode of the last season.

Oh, so very sorry to hear about your Dad Thats pretty cool that he was a big fan. I bet you two had some great Downton Abbey conversations! My condolences to you (((Nancy)))
Yes, I watched the series! I've watched almost every episode. Am waiting for the boxed set to get to a reasonable price! Just saw Laura Charmichael in the Spanish Princess series about Henry the VIII marrying Catherine of Arragon. Can't wait for next season! Have you heard of Brit Box which streams a ton of British shows for us Anglophiles?
They had a lovely Downton Abbey exhibit in New York City a while back, it was very well done. I hope to go to the great house where this was filmed... It was a great regal time for England.

Thanks for your kind words. Dad passed Jan. 6, 2016. He really liked Daisy, the assistant kitchen cook.
I watched the Spanish Princess too (and the White Princess!) No, never head of BritBox. I have all the premium channels like Starz, HBO, etc.)
Here’s info on Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) It is 66.4 miles west of London.

Daisy was great, wasn't she ? Thanks for that link!!! They have a Costumes and Cocktails event, sounds fun, I hope they have something like that when I can get there!! Christmas also sounds fun...
Britbox is s streaming service for 7$ a month. Like Netflix or Hulu and I belive it also has BBC channels for which you pay a fee in the UK. Imagine a very large choice of PBS level shows and productions. I've really enjoyed many of them when I was over there.

I was sorry to hear about Nancy's father too. I know how it feels. I'm eager to see the new "Downton Abbey" movie, too, it will be sumptuously designed, acted and filmed. With wonderful music, no doubt. So much happened at that stately English mansion over the seasons, and they'll have to cram a lot into just two hours or so, so I'm hoping for sequels to the movie. Possibly. But for now I'm focusing on this new one, of course. I wish Dan Stevens had not left the series so soon. I think he's marvelous. And the daughter who died in childbirth who had married the family's driver, I miss her too. She was excellent. Yet many who remain are equally worthwhile to the stories. One of my favorite little storylines was the handsome head of the manor, Hugh Bonneville's character, having a fling with that cute maid, which was a saucy bit of unexpected intrigue. It would be fun if she popped up. I want to see who his other daughters "end up" with romantically. And what happens with the "working class" driver who became a member of the aristocratic family. That plot point is quite interesting to me. Their child survived. And he himself is still there ! Has he become an "aristocrat" himself, after all his avid socialist leanings ? Is he now a bit haughty and snobbish ? It's cool he was accepted into the inner circle of the family.
"The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt was such a fictional sensation and won the Pulitizer for Literature that year. It's such an exciting, action packed, fascinating novel ! I don't see how the movie of the book can equal or top it ! It will be very interesting to discover the extent to which the movie version succeeds. "The Goldfinch" movie comes out very, very soon. Ansel Egbert (can't spell his name) stars as the young protagonist. The male lead. I like him as an actor. I'm happy he was chosen.

Thank you Susy!
My favorite bit on the show was when that guy died in Mary’s bed and her mother and sister had to help get his body back to his own bed!
-
Emma Watson stars as one of the March sisters in Greta Gerwig's upcoming "Little Women," I meant to say. Not Emma Thompson. Who is a bit mature to play one of the young sisters, of course.

LOL I remember that... I must have missed the ones with Hugh and a saucy maid... Miss Dan Stevens as well and the family driver, Tom was such a nice guy... I'm so glad that Edith finally met a wonderful guy and was able to keep Marigold.

IT: Chapter Two was an absolute monster carnival of a film. Intense, funny, wrenching, and horrifying.

Looking forward to Avatar when it finally comes out. Hope they don’t wait too long to show all three movies that were filmed simultaneously. I would like to see them all before I leave for another dimension. LOL
Saw Paul playing some orchestral music with an orchestra and it flashed upon a wall that had Avatar the movie. Thinking he may have done music for that.

I just Googled it and Avatar 2 is supposed to come out in 2022 and Avatar 3 in 2024! There are 4 planned sequels to the original 2009 Avatar film!

That’s crazy, the first Avatar came out in 2009!!

The movie I really want to see -- though probably not anytime soon since movie theaters are closed here and I don't have Netflix -- is "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom." Not only is it Chadwick Boseman's final performance (sigh...), the director, George C. Wolfe, is someone I went to college with.

I have his movie Get On Up (biopic of Little Richard) set to record on HBO.
They are supposed to be eventually making a sequel to Black Panther, but said they won't CGI Chadwick into the film.
