GAS (gasoline!)
-
So...how much is gas where you live? How much is it in all parts of the world? We here in America are waaay too dependant on gas. Here in Chicago it's $3.85 for regular...in the suburbs. It must be almost $4.00 in the city. edit to add link for gas prices in your area: http://www.chicagogasprices.com/Map_Gas_Prices.aspx

The price for a gallon of gasoline everywhere on earth...should be 29% of whatever the average minimum hourly wage is...everywhere.
-
3,89 for premium outside Seattle....damn my car for wanting that! it's getting crazy expensive! rrrr
-
Gas, Petrol, Fuel, no matter how you name it... it's creeping back up there. Around $4.00US. a gallon for Premium in So Cal. Pretty soon we won't be able to afford to go anywhere unless THE PEOPLE REVOLT again against BIG OIL and refuse to buy at the higher prices... Will it happen? Well, it's up to all of US, not BP and the Multi-National Corporations who want to control the lives of the SMALL PEOPLE while sucking our Dollars to help them pay for POISONING the PLANET we live on!

$ 9.00 for a gallon here!!! Stop complaining Americans!!!

It's a bit of a twist and turn making like for like comparisons as the US Gallon is smaller than the Imperial (UK) Gallon. I drive a diesel engined vehicle with diesel costing an average £1.3638 per litre according to http://www.petrolprices.com/ After several conversions that's $10.085 per UK gallon or $8.39 per US Gallon. Most of which is UK fuel duty and VAT both of which have been raised by the UK Government recently by way of revenue generation (and supposed "green" disincentives to discourage fuel use and encourage alternate transport and lifestyle choices). There is a growing lobby to get the government to review the loading of tax as the real price of oil is forced up by world demand as it is having a disproportionate effect on business. There is talk of a fuel escalator formula that would stabilise the price at a fixed level by reducing tax levies as world oil prices rise - so long as we accept increased taxes again if oil prices fall. Some way to go on that debate though. Martin

They should ban all gas and diesel cars and just produce green cars But as long as there are companies like Shell it ain't gonna happen. It's all about the money. Not about the environment.
-
Bio-Diesel from Hemp could be delivered for about 49¢/Gallon at the pump. Unfortunately, (for us) Big Oil cannot establish a monopoly on a plant that grows so readily in most of the world, so you won't be hearing much about it.
-
I don't know, I don't use it. I'm checking the Spanish news 1.3 euros per liter now.

Damn. that's 30 cents a liter cheaper than here
-
If the price keeps going up, maybe there will be no one left on the roads. It's about $3.30 per gallon in my area and is forcasted to hit $4/gallon by late may (memorial day). What scares me is I could live to see $6/gallon gas or even higher.
-
What irritates me is the amount of jumping - and the piss pour excuses as to why it is always going up as in someone sneezed, someone dropped their sandwich so we all pay another 20 cents .... (and it is not just gas ... but all the things gasoline affects -- like shipping costs .... the price of food..... etc..... etc ....)

I've heard that! OMG! Americans would go crazy with that price. But do you guys "waste" as much as we do? I bet you watch where you are going more...or is it not a big deal? Really...I don't understand it. I also think there should be extra taxes on people that use it recreationally... motor homes, boats, snowmobiles, etc.

We have a whole lot less cars here. I noticed that almost every family member in the US has a car. Not here. And we don't have AC here. And a lot of folks travel to and from work by public transport. Me too if we run out of gas one day. Spain already lowered the max speed on highways so cars will use less gas.

Well the wages there are twice the wages here so it's not so cheap here.

Well, it really depends on where you live but 9 times out 10 there's an alternative way of travelling to the car. Some tell me, "but it takes you longer to arrive using public transport". "Okey, the public transport makes the travel in half an hour and you do it in your car in 15 minutes.... but you told me you need 15 minutes to park, so..."

When is the US going to get more mass transportation and more green cars!!! It makes me sick thinking how stupid the situation has become... we have known about this for decades... still no mass transit and we are forced to use our cars to go everywhere!!! Many don't even seem interested in alternative energy... (rich people with ocean view homes are fighting against having to look at windmills, where I live...)...it should be mandatory and President Obama could really make a name for the future if he tackled this problem and went against the big oil companies. With his reputation these days, no matter how undeserved, he might as well just add this to his list... even if it's unpopular now, history will look back and recognize him for it!!! Cut through the ******** and just DO IT!!!
-
I don't think there is any one answer. Mass transportation won't work in most suburbs around here. Fine for going downtown but not running around shopping & stuff. Why aren't all school buses & city buses more green? Start with them. I know that it does cost a LOT to convert but let's get started! And in the meantime I think we should be using our own damn oil! I know it's not popular but we do have oil that is not being drilled for. Then what? Electric cars? And why do cars need to go from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds? WTF drives like that? Why do cars need to go 130 MPH? We can't drive that fast here in America.
-
I'm thinking that by now, we should have much more solar panels converting electricity, all cars should be alternative... right, who's driving 130 MPH?? Wind turbines everywhere... and there really could be more mass transportation, or cities and towns that have been configured in some areas of the country to work better with mass transit. Where are the buses that could be utilized so much better?! This should have started years ago... We are being held hostage by oversea countries that are selling us oil and it doesn't have to be that way. We are fighting wars over oil... it's gotta stop folks!!
