Paul should do something like this: http://www.pollstar.com/news_article.aspx?ID=805001 If the Stones can, Paul can. $20 for a surprise show at a club.
I actually was incredibly lucky enough to get a ticket to go to this last night! Actually, I have quite the story about how I got my ticket. It's kind of long, but it's worth a read through: Let's go back in time to about 11 am yesterday. I'm driving in my car, off to run some errands, when I turn on the radio and I hear that the Stones are doing a secret show in L.A. Once I heard this, I drove like a madman to get in line at the El Rey. I get there about 12:30, line snaking around the block, thinking immediately that my odds don't look good, but, I hung around after I found out that they were giving out tickets via a lottery. Around 2 pm, a person comes around handing out tickets with numbers. I get number 312072. As I walk up the sidewalk, another guy with a megaphone states that people who have tickets with numbers in between 312094 and 312400-something are getting into the show. A guy who I had been talking with had a ticket with 312100. HE GIVES ME HIS TICKET, and tells me to enjoy the show!!!!! I thank him profusely, and then I got my actual ticket (which only cost $20) and wristband to get me in the show!!!!!
That is SO cool! So how were the Stones?? I enjoy their music and concerts. I think Paul should do some secret club dates or play some last minute shows in smaller markets (hint hint!) where his big stage would not make sense.
The Stones were great! It was actually my first time seeing them in concert, and I loved every minute of it! I'm actually seeing them again later in May at the Staples Center, but I don't that gig will even compare to seeing them at the Echoplex!
Excellent! Congrats! I have seen the Stones three times and REALLY enjoyed the concert. My fave was 1997 in Albuquerque, they were amazing.

He could, yeah, but he probably figures it's beneath him.

He's already done shows like this, the Secret Gigs in 1991 and the ones in 2007.

Yeah but that was kinda a promo thing...the Stones do it just to get the chops going...I agree though, Paul should dust off the cobwebs before, during or even after tours by doing this. In fact Jagger did one of these during a week's run in Melbourne back in 88, solo. Just got into a dingy pub, and let rip...short, unconventional set. "Direct from Tasmania, the Brothers of Sodom..."

I hope Paul returns to the UK to play shows in places other than 'the usual suspects' (ie London and Liverpool)

i came here just to see no new news or confirms dissapointment strikes

The tour starts this Saturday. I think this is it for tour dates, unless some new ones come this week. I know dates can be announced while the tour is in progress, but I doubt a lot of dates will come out that way.

Another great rock band doing an intimate show for fans: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/cheap-trick-celebrate-at-budokan-anniversary-with-intimate-new-york-gig-20130429 Cheap Trick are amazing live, and I will see them in Albuquerque in June. This show was also streamed live. McCartney should do this.

I find it sad that they don't have the following or chops to play an anniversary concert for the Budokan AT the budokan...

Well, they certainly have the chops! They are as good as McCartney's backing band, musician for musician. And Zander sounds great. I'm sure his voice will show wear and tear in ten years when he is Paul's age. As far as going to Japan, yeah, that would be cool. Too bad it didn't happen. They did play the Budokan about ten years ago for the 25th anniversary. I guess they can't do it every time! Paul McCartney should play in Japan too!

Well, the Apollo, 100 Club, Hammersmith, and Academy shows were cool from what I heard in 2010. We could see some intimacy in winter if the past is any indication.

can we bring this back to PAUL please?

Hey everybody ! After all these US and Canada announcements, do you think that Paul is going to go out there in Europe for more shows at the end of the year ? Do you have some ideas of the places he could visit ? Cheers and for the lucky people who are going to any Paul's show this summer, have a great time ! (I hope I'll be as lucky as you in a few months...)
