The ..2012.... Political thread

It seems that his presence is symbolic. If I were going to inherent a mess, I'd like to know the details. Obama's party has the leadership...if his vote were critical, he'd show up. And as the majority leader says they're okay, he's not needed.

They won't....get over it and move on. There will always be war, there will be uneducated people (however you want to define it) and there will always be a financial crisis. We manage through these. Always have, always will.
Get Over It!...and Wake Up! ...We Can As Easily Do Anything!........As We Can Any Thing Else!...That Is "A" FACT!

Let's not forget that Obama flaked out from having Town Hall style debates around the Nation So, Barak - better not be to proud about the present situation or else he will become the actual roast at the upcoming debate meeting

People the US is hours away from a full blown depression. The only thing stopping it is nationalizing wall street the same folks who wanted deregulation for everybody. Now the crooks have run our nation to the brink of a depression. FBI announced tonight they are going to investigate these company being bailed out so maybe they can keep the million they stole and are politician can justify it. I not seeing any rich doing time. Why did this happen because some dips voted for image instead of substances. Isn't it time to vote in a intellectual and not a pretender. Haven't we seen what a pretender leaves us with after 8 years. Palin and Mccain are both pretenders. No real hands on experences to run crap. Mccain wife is loaded(litterly she went to rehab for Oxycontin addiction a few years back) and Palin a one trick pony. The reason some Asian country do so much better than us is they actually vote in wise old men to run there country. Guys with education on economic and world affairs. We consider beauty queens want to bees with sneers. We have one chance to vote for change and not screw it up. I'm shocked any one take Palin serious. I don't think Palin take herself seriously. Your not voting in Palin your voting in Mccain. Alaska love to vote odd man out. They once had a guy on the ticket called Mafia Mike and he got 1/3 of the votes. That how serious they take there politics.
Appletart2, It was the government who caused this entire mess starting with Bill Clinton and to a lesser extent, G.W. Bush. You can even go back as far as Jimmy Carter and the Community Reinvestment Act to find the origins, yet peanut brain Carter is critical of the bailout plan even though he believes it's necessary. : House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank should be ousted from his position. This all happened under his watch. But we don't hear a word from Nancy Pelosi. Her party took control of Congress in 2006 after she promised to clean up government and make it work for the people. The fact that Henry Waxman isn't all over the place with this should tell us all something about who caused this mess. He never misses an opportunity to show his flaring nostrils on tv. In 06 gas was $2.19 a gallon for regular and unemployment was at 4.5%. Now it's over $4.00 and unemployment is over 6%. We got change alright and their mortgage schemes, years in the making, have finally come crashing down. From 1989 through 2006 Barack Obama was the third highest recipient of donations from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Chris Dodd was #1 with $133,900. He also got a sweetheart of a deal for his own mortgages that only corrupt politicians can get. John Kerry was #2 with $111,000 . # 3 is Barack Obama with $105,849. keep in mind that Obama was only a Senator for two years. He is wholly owned by the thieves at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama would be wise to not talk about lobbyist dollars any more. U.S Assistant Attorney General Jamie Gorelick is best known for erecting the wall between federal agencies like the FBI and the CIA preventing them from sharing intelligence about al Qaeda. She was appointed to that position by Clinton. She had no experience or training in real estate or finance. She was was appointed to Vice Chairman of Fannie Mae in 1997. She earned $75million. Another crook from within the Clinton Administration Franklin Raines, an Obama confidant, raked in over $90 million after being appointed CEO in 1999. I hope when the FBI investigate these crooks they take no prisoners. Let the chips fall where they may. Freddie and Fannie has been a feeding ground for Democrats for many years. But I guess the real news story for liberals is the pain killers addiction McCain's wife had 26 years ago. The other news story is that Democrats are threatened by Sarah Palin. Another reason why some Asian countries do better than us is that they don't hand out no money down mortgages, with cash back, to people who don't earn enough to make the monthly payments. Stuff like that only happens in America.

You know what would be the irony in all this? The Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae debacle was all caused by Democrats. The feds sink $700 billion to resolve this mess and Obama uses it against McCain in the campaign. "Republicans taking care of fat cats on Wall Street". Obama gets elected and McCain walks away scratching his head wondering how Obama, up to his eyeballs in sub prime mortgage corruption, gets elected on this single issue. If McCain doesn't use this mortgage mess against Obama that's probably what will happen.

there all a sleep at the wheel. But come on McCain Monday was going the economy fine. I STONGLY BELIVE THIS IS A FAKE OUT. FEAR keep the people in fear. there using the FEAR tactics. We have problems but there using scare tackics to cheat the American public and get us to bail out there mess without allowing us to have any say so. Don't look don' t read don't think just agree. This is what they pulled to all these home owners. That why these homeowners are in trouble not understanding what there loans were going to do. I agree it was under Clinton watch but the congress was all Rep., Newt lead them and they were the ones spearheading to repeal the Glass-Steagall Act This single act was put into place to put a firewall up against insurance and banking. It been changed a few more times to add other protecting and restriction. In 1933 the Glass-Steagall act was put into play but in November of 1999 Congress repealed the GSA with the establishment of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which eliminated the GSA restrictions against affiliations between commercial and investment banks. Furthermore, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act allows banking institutions to provide a broader range of services, including underwriting and other dealing activities. The greed factor was under Bush no one was watching these guys when they started to run amok. They contol both congress and the senate so now it easy to blame the Dem but Bush has not been forthright to us at how bad it is. Also let not forget that both Bush and McCain have been here before. Keaton 5 and who were the mortgage brokers run by. Those Bush boys. . they forgave I think like 500 billion back than. McCain is hiding. He know shit getting ready to hit the fan and his skeleton are surfing soon. He also can't answers the questions.

Mccain dodging the bullet was a mistake. McCain is hiding from the press and doesn't want to debate because the Rep are to blame and you know Obama is going to bring up his association with The Keating 5 and make a parallel to whats happening now. That was a big deal.. Amazing how people forget history. They say Washington is crawling with lobbyist from the Banking and all these companies writing all the rules. Its shameful!

We all have our moments, but this seems out of line indeed.

Actually, McCain is not "hiding from the press", he was on CBS news last evening with Katie Couric............and NO, the Rep is not to blame............Let Barry bring up The Keating 5 and McCain can remind him just who were the top recipients of Fannie Mae and Freddie mac contributions: Sen. Dodd ($165,400) Obama ($126,349) and let's not forget Congressman Barney Frank ($42,000) From 1989 to 2008, 354 lawmakers in Congress received money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Current members of Congress have received a total of $4.8 mil from these two entities, with the Dems collecting the bulk of that money. Does anyone see a conflict of interest here? And wouldn't this be plastered all over the news if the top recipients were Republicans?

Hasn't the US suffered enough?thats perfect. I was thinking she was floundering for answers. Sadly she could of used the fact that Alaska is a hub for international travel and has a international airport, which bring most of the import exporters through her state. A lot of US trade is transported through her state and Alaska main exports are seafood, japan and asia (lots of foreign dispute there over boundary rights for fishing ) and oil export(United Arab nations and oil cartel) and that bring her in direct connection with many foreign diplomats and dignitary's as well as international tourism which is big in Ak. You have 6 hr flight to London over the polls. There leaders come though her state when heading to the far east or Russia. This bring many European dignitary in direct contact with her. As well as Ak hase 3 major military base in her state. Ak is also connecteds to Canada but I didn't hear her bring up that. But when they want to pipeline down that oil and gas over Canada, guess who they had to negotiate with and set policy with.

The mortgage mess is not soley a democratic party issue: it was a republican congress that pushed through removing Glass Steagall... Many mortgages were not underwritten by banks....Countrywide is just such an example. I don't recall any reforms of Fannie & Freddie while the republicans controlled congress. They are just as cupable. Many of us have homes because of Fannie & Freddie,....this is no longer an "us them" issue....choosing up sides will not solve anything.

The first debate win has been given to Obama in the "CNN News" poll. What kind of leadership would we have under a McCain/Palin ticket? One has to wonder, especially after I read the following: "Palin's Cozy Relationship With Big Oil" "Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said this about oil companies: "When I look every day, the big oil company's building is right out there next to me, and it's quite a reminder that we should have mutually beneficial relationships with the oil industry."" (Source: Roll Call, 08/25/200 McCain served his country and he can't be denied that but his military career spanned from 1958 - 1981 and with his record of voting with President G. W. Bush over 90% of the time, backing Bush's policies that have failed miserably, one has to question whether McCain's war experience is 20th Century outdated since he retired from the Navy over 27 years ago. We have virtually ignored Afghanistan in favor of Iraq and Bin Laden is still out there. Iraq did not attack us, folks! McCain accuses Obama of having flawed reasoning when McCain said we can "muddle through Afghanistan". : We need an independent thinker like Obama and with Biden on the ticket we have an experienced Senator ready to work as a team with Obama to lead this country. McCain needs to update his Military mindset to the 21st Century. This is a different time and a different kind of war. McCain has to factor in modern day technologies into his thinking on the war since his experience that he is trumpeting is 27 - 50 years old! Factor in Gov. Palin's inexperience and her statement on the oil companies above with McCain's advanced age (72) and this woman could be a heartbeat away from becoming President and that is SCARY! I saw an interesting bumper sticker the other day. It said: "Bush's Third Term: John McCain" This is exactly what America doesn't need! Bush's own party didn't even back his Economic Bailout and negotiations failed even after it was announced to the media that a deal had been reached. They are now hoping for a deal by tomorrow. I think sending the bill for Bush's plan to the taxpayers is absolutely unacceptable. I will take Obama's policies for "Change" coupled with Biden's experience any day! I have said before that race is not a factor for me but, unfortunately, racism is still a factor in this race but people who will not elect a Black man President are forgetting that Obama is 1/2 White. He is as much White as he is Black. Vote based on a candidate's policies, not the color of his skin. I can't understand how 40% of the electorate is undecided. To me, Obama/Biden is the clear choice.

I thought McCain and Obama both did well in the debate. But McCain looked very grumpy. He also wasn't very gracious to Obama, not even looking at him for most of the debate. That will not play well with the independents and undecideds. Omaba may need to go more on the offensive in the next two debates, but his performance reassured many people that he is ready to be president. As one commentator said, McCain may have ended the debate slightly ahead on points, but he needed a knock-out and he didn't do that. With Obama already ahead in the polls, the debate was a win for him because the independents and undecideds have rated him more favorably after this debate than before.
-
McCain has the attitude of a little big man who married up and is pist off she controls the purse strings. Bush 3 Their platform is NO separation of church and state. There moving into the church and bring politics with them. I call on the flock of sheep?s to get me elected.. Yes I'm without sin.. Yes I left my wife for my mistress. So we had kids and she waited for me until I got out of POW camp.. She was old and poor and this one was young and rich and her daddy had pull politically .. I know this one likes her pain pills but you know, she got money she can afford the good stuff. Sad day when we give up the reason we left England. Our founder?s will be rolling in their graves.

Overall, I felt that McCain started off slow, but picked up steam and ultimately won on the issues, but he missed some golden opportunities at Obama and overall, I'd probably give it to McCain, he did very well. The ironic thing is that I actually found Obama to be the one who was rather grumpy. He kept interrupting McCain, mumbling to himself, and kept trying to moderate the debate himself. I found him to be totally rude and disrespectful and mostly flustered and on the defensive, whereas I thought McCain was rather calm throughout the whole thing... a trait that I did not see in the other Senator.
