Once upon a time in the United States, We had Civil Servants. Now the "Servants" have the Best Jobs, with the Highest Pay, the best Benefits Packages and the most Job Security. How did the "Servants" become Our Masters?

Thanks! Yeah, I like to think I hit on all eight, every now and then. Still, it's pretty easy to get up on the soapbox and decry all that ails America. It's harder to offer solutions. I do have some ideas, but most of them tend to be a bit radical. Nevertheless, Dire Circumstances call for Radical Measures and, honestly, I don't believe anything short of that will "fix" the problems We face. Our "Election" system has failed. Period. F.U.B.A.R. Actually, I don't know that it is beyond repair or recovery, but I do know that, as long as We continue with the present system, We will continue to witness the Wholesale Plunder of America. [NOTE: Here comes some of that "Radical" stuff:] I hate to say it (because I actually like watching some TV) but TV is, I believe, a large part of what destroyed Our Election System. Prior to the advent of TV, The People had to either read what the Candidates HAD TO SAY in the newspapers, or listen to what they HAD TO SAY on the radio. In other words, The People were forced to make a more informed decision, based on what the Candidates HAD TO SAY, rather than from TV's 10-second sound bytes: "Change you can believe in," and from how good they look on TV. Additionally, whichever Candidate can spend the most on advertising is pretty much the shoe-in. For example:
The Wall Street Journal:
Obama?s campaign has spent nearly $75 million on TV ads, and Sen. Hillary Clinton comes in second with $46 million. Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney still comes in third at $32 million, while expected Republican nominee Sen. John McCain has spent just $11 million.
I seem to remember reading somewhere, but I can't find it now, that the overall price tag on Obama's Campaign was 700 Million (or, was it Billion?) Dollars. Where would a "Peoples' Candidate" procure such funding? Where does ANY Candidate? If you guessed "Corporations" &/or "Special Interests," award yourself a Gold Star. But their money definitely comes with "Strings Attached." Once upon a time in The United States, if was considered ... unethical and a bit unseemly ... for some professions to advertise on TV (Doctors and Lawyers come to mind.) I'd certainly like to see a return to THOSE values, but that's beside the point: Perhaps Campaign advertisements should be eliminated from TV. Return to evaluating a Candidate based on WHAT THEY SAY!

Biting unknowingly into an olive pit can be extremely painful. And, yes, it can cause dental damage. But a $150,000 grand!!!!????????????????? C'mon, munchkin man!

Frankly, I find the attacks on those who work for state governments (civil servants) for the most part to be sorely misguided

lol, it was the huge cost of the arms race that broke the USSR's economy - but she's not going to say that, because she loves arms.

Am I the only one who noticed Fox is distancing themselves from the Tea Party and that CNN it picking up where fox left off? It just goes to show you these networks all have the same agenda. One screams progressive one conservative but notice they always run the propaganda over and over again so regardless on their position there giving these nuts jobs credences and exposure.

The sooner the north of England develops a separatist strategy and declares independence from the Tory south the better. The right-wing south of England has deliberately and systematically impoverished northern England, Scotland and Wales to keep itself in the style to which it is accustomed.
