The ..2012.... Political thread
-
Instead of mud slinging and name calling, it would be well to find out the facts. The truth. "Which might take a lot of digging, so I'll let someone else" ops: : But they might get it wrong! Or you might! Who will get it right? Find out the "real truth"? And be trusted that they did?
-
Too much short term pleasure in mud slinging and name calling so it seems (((Susy))). Long term gain doesn't seem to be a motive here. Perhaps it never will.

We have many huge problems in the US and the world for that matter. And political solutions are the most effective way to deal with them. We have an obstructionist element that is impeding progress through ignorance. Kumbaya doesn't work if people can't reason ..I think we have to do anything that just might have a chance of working...the stakes are too high.

"You don't really communicate...just read your last few posts...you don't hear or listen to what the other person has said...you come right out and just put words in their mouth. Just mindless gibberish ...a great example of a 'programmed ditto head' " ^^^HAHAHAHA - Does your mom know your cutting school and on the computer? Or did they kick you out due to your posting Daily KOS clippings all over the school walls? Gosh, that's tough - probably why you're so angy...you feel like that somehow infringed upon your right to freedom of speech. Some advise - why don't YOU read your own advice and follow it? But regardless - I understand that in your world, if it's not in the Daily KOS, it doesn't exist...So I can see why you've flatly ignored anything anyone other than an leftist extremist has offered and state that 'the right wing has yet to offer evidence of accomplishments'...you've been spoon fed (like the baby you are) information by numerous people regarding many things 'Republican' and you spat it out without giving it much thought - instead trying to figure out a clever (futile to you as it is) personal attack)...You're just an eff'd up dude with no life...
again, you assume things you know nothing about ...that's what you do. I'm not a kid. I'm a person with 2 graduate degrees. That means after I graduated from college I went back to school and got 2 grad degrees. I have a successful business and have made enough good business decisions so that I don't have to work. I've been very lucky and I've also worked very hard. The people I've associated with all my life have been in positions of authority. I've been blessed to be around people who have accomplished much. They all seem to communicate well and are straight forward. I've been around some republicans too but not the type that you are. They're not in the crazy base as you are. Their economic policies are wrong some of them just think about the taxes they pay. They have no compassion just think about themselves. I socialize with them sometimes but they would never be my friends because we have different values. You really don't know what you're talking about most of the time and I think that's dangerous. Unfortunately there are many like you.
forgot to add...you know nothing about Daily Kos. most of the people I blog with there are professionals mainly lawyers and scientists . that's one of the main reasons i like it. It's interesting and I learn a lot. So different from you climate change denying ditto heads.
Oh yeah - the same scientists who fabricated 'evidence' to skew their global warming theory...then changed their catch phrase from 'global warming' to 'global change' when they realized 1) they were caught and 2) they were wrong...How can I forget that? And I could I not have connected the dots that such disconnect and dishonesty would come from such an entity as the Daily K(P)OS...anyway, glad you fess'd that up
there you go again...the crazy right...doesn't believe in science ...hasn't bothered to learn the facts about what he talks about daily...doesn't put the effort into educating himself......as I've said before on this thread, the crazy right doesn't care about competence or intelligence...that's why they love their Palin, Beck, Limbaugh etc....they don't even know enough to know that they are being fed a bunch of crap.... the definition of a ditto head ps pretty scarey for a nursing student not to believe in science the ditto head anthem right here
this is but one of the many reasons people like rich n are so dangerous Why has the US not been able to join the world community in a comprehensive plan to reduce greenhouse gases?...because of people like rich n...the crazy US republican base does not believe in science, is homophobic, mostly racist and toxic not just to the US but to the world. The republicans in congress don't want to upset their base by going against their beliefs or they will be voted out and lose their jobs. The crazy ditto heads get their so called information from the likes of Faux news, Limbaugh, Beck and Palin. So the world waits while the ditto heads play their fiddles and extreme weather gets more extreme and countries plan for rising water by making decisions on which of their cities will get help and which ones they have to abandon. They may look stupid and harmless but that much ignorance is dangerous.I'd say people who use 'ditto head' as some sort of insult are the ignorant/dangerous people...because their mommy or daddy lets them use the computer - what are you going to say next - my poo poo smells more than your poo poo? And the whacked out BS you post (both in your 'free lance' style and the crap you pass off as 'expert testimony) only goes further to show your lack of worth...you're not left, right or anything - just off on your own planet, dude (or dudette - not that it matters...sh*t is sh*t regardless of what form it comes in)
You've already lost your credibility, now you're just losing it

Thinking about climate change in a logical manner is actually quite easy, even for a non-scientist/regular person. With man made climate change the consensus is in...almost all credible scientists who work in the climate field have signed on...there are a few who disagree and it's wise to follow the money here to find out who is backing those (ie fossil fuel industry , usually) Science is not absolute, it gets it's information by doing repeated studies or experiments and then compiling that information. If it looks like the evidence is overwhelming it's a go...but there are always some studies/experiments who will not conform to the consensus. So on the one hand you have the majority of climate scientists world wide endorsing man made climate change and recommending immediate reduction of greenhouse gases to curb the effects of climate change which they predict would be catastrophic including: rising water tables resulting in forced evacuation , droughts, extreme weather, disruption to agriculture etc. On the other hand you have the skeptics who may say that climate change is not occurring or if it is it is not due to man made actions and say do nothing. I'm not a scientist but I don't need to be one to understand that the consequences of not acting could doom this planet and that we need to immediately try to reduce our man made greenhouse gas emissions. If the deniers are right there would be nothing lost in making our world more sustainable. Fossil fuels are finite so can't be used forever anyway. Logically it's a no-brainer

We may run out of oil sooner than expected. We need to be making a quick turn over to alternative energy. The technology is there and working, only the investment and will is necessary http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/feb/08/saudi-oil-reserves-overstated-wikileaks

Sadly, this thread only reflects the grid-lock that has come to define our two-party system.
Here's my idea We have run offs in all 50 states. Each state gets a Representative at first. No parties. Just american who pass the requirements can run. To get to run for office you must win the run off in your state and than go to the finals. Instead of 2 in the finals there starts with 50 than they get voted down pretty fast to just 6. You debate and the public votes off the losers. In the end the person with the most votes wins. No party just any person who wants to run and meets the requirements. To rid the system of every Tom Dick and Harry running.. The person must take a test (which cost money enough to discourage time wasters) This test would have extensive economics, law, politics, HISTORY, and vital knowledge that any leader needs to know to do the job. Plus have a background check and have a phyc examine. (no people with tea bags hanging on there hats need apply ) This test would be put together by professor from the schools like MIT and Harvard and Yale. So only people with high IQ's could pass it. (Sorry Sarah) Once a person passed they would be certified and it would be like a designating. Than at anytime there after they can run for a public office. Again 50 states have run offs. Public votes them off like American Idol. Top 6 winner goes on a national run off. Run off would be 50 than 25 than 12 than count down till 6 than those people would go to each state and do debates so the public could actually see them and ask question of them. Than a final vote would determine the winner. We turned running for office into a fund raising scam instead of a tool to inform the public of the players abilities. We vote more for looks than brains. Is there any wonder we're in the mess where in. The system now certainly gives us nothing. We're handed 2 people and told it are choice which ones is it going to be. Most get in by default. Oh and term limits for all offices.

Some interesting ideas there Appletart... especially like the one about tests for competency and intelligence. Don't think that will go over very well with the republicans Since this is Reagan's BD week here are some facts about the effects of his policies..... The effects of Reaganomics:
The National Debt went up under: Carter 41%, Reagan 186%, Bush Sr. 53%, Clinton 40%, Bush W. 77%. -

LOL - stealing my material, computer tough guy Of course you don't account for the fact that most of the money spent during Reagan's first term was cleaning up after that peanut sucker from GA And what's even more amazing is how precious you fine folks are. You actually believe one party lives up to its values and the other doesn't.

If it doesn't come from one particular source, it doens't count (in his mind). And if you notice whatever 'evidence' he pumps out is sourced from that very same 'group' (funny he used the term 'ditto head' when he is the only one exhibiting 'sameness' with that evil crap he spews)...but to answer his question, their contribution is on going in fighting off the idiocy of the Dems...Here in MA, Scott Brown was a great victory if for no other reason that to finally put a crack in the communist gov't we have here in MA

Yoo Hoo! ROFL - that's what you think (ugliness in the middle east is just around the corner - especially when the countries surrounding Israel - including Egypt - try to squeeze Israel out of existance) ...and why don't 'we Republicans' brag about our accomplishments???? Because you can't read (why waste my time typing it out??)...I'll try some audio/video approaches when I get home later - including one of Gore himself admitting that his global warming facts were fabricated (LOL) And as far as a 'grown up' in office - is that why he was complaining to Bill O'Reilly last Sunday that he didn't realize he had to fix 'big' problems? And his input so far with this Egyptian thing has been a disgrace at best...and he seems to think the Muslim Brotherhood group is a 'good' thing for Egypt

Haha so that the repubs don't have to tire their fingers typing their accomplishments...not the mention upset their employers by wasting their work time on the internet I'll help you out * The Republican Party kept us safe, except for 9/11 (well, and Anthrax, the shoe bomber, etc.) * The Bush administration captured and brought to justice the top terrorists who threatened America, except for Osama bin Laden * No US cities were destroyed under the last Republican presidency, other than New Orleans * Bush has a perfect record on military invasions of other countries, except for Afghanistan and Iraq * Republicans protected our constitution, except for habeus corpus and the bill of rights And now we have a former US president who can not even travel to the EU in fear of arrest (bush of course) please feel free to add their other accomplishments
