Star Trek

Fan4-45years:
21st Century Paul:
the new series will be called "Discovery", it sounds like original Star Trek spirit. here is the new ship: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5171438/?ref_=fn_al_tt_10 The new movie had very high rating when it was premiered then the rating has fallen. I guess that means that the kind of people that saw it first (the fans!) have liked it more than the average people. So I guess is another Star Trekkish Star Trek movie. Or maybe I'm just too optimistic.
Remember, the original series got low reviews, too, but here we are today watching reruns for the zillionth time.
It was supposed to be not commercial and in the end they made the most profitable TV serie ever... minimum budget, huge income... half a century over the world, 30 seasons, 13 movies, lol... "An in the end..."

I can't imagine anyone going to see any Star Trek film who is not a fan! I mean, seriously, why would you go? (unless you had been dragged there by your significant other!)
"Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" got in the list of the highest grossing films ever. "into darkness" got more than 400 milions. I guess many just don't know what is about or go to see it anyway cause they aren't so many trekkies out there. I mean Star Trek just CAN'T be commercial... not until 23rd century I mean if it's commercial then is not Star Trek really... it's the kind of stuff people likes 10-20 years after its release..

I've just seen Wrath of Khan for the first time and I'm a bit dissapointed cause it's considered "the best Star Trek movie"(of the 20th century). I see it as "not Star Trekkish movie", but a mainstream movie for almost everyone and I guess that's why it's considered the best by people in general. Just like the 2 with JJ Abrams.

You are kidding!! The Wrath of Khan was great! It was a sequel to the episode of the original series called "Space Seed" which also starred Ricardo Montalban. Loved it!!!!!

Yesterday was the 50th Anniversary of the premier of the first television show. Has Khan captured all of the trekkies? http://www.cbsnews.com/news/original-cast-members-pay-tribute-to-star-trek-on-50th-anniversary/

A new documentary about Leonard Nimoy is in theaters now. Wow. One wonders if William Shatner will also ever be honored in this kind of big time way.

Good point...I wish they'd come out with these while the stars are still with us, and can enjoy these documentaries and feel vastly appreciated and beloved and such. Even if the material isn't all glowing and complimentary. In this age of "living in pissed off times" according to Time magazine, celebs especially need to develop a tough hide--reminds me I wish I could have seen the Rob Lowe roast, it sounds real funny although sometimes cringe-worthy and Ann Coulter was there, and the comedians really let her have it. Makes me wish I had t.v.

I can't imagine living without TV. I don't spend money on going out to movies, drinking, eating out, etc. so TV is my main source of entertainment. I have no idea why Ann Coulter was there. She was so weird-acting and they sure did let her have it!

I've watched 3 different ST specials recently. One was from 2007, another from 1999. The first one showed a Christie's auction with 1000 ST items. One of the ship models (huge) went for $500,000!!
-
On one of the ST specials, 2 girls sang "Let It Be" in Klingon!
-
One network has been showing all five series. Another ran every episode of The Original Series starting Sept. 8th, the actual anniversary. Others have been showing the films: from The Motion Picture to Into Darkness. It's been viewing nirvana for Trekkies!

I found a "William Shatner Roast" DVD. He got roasted, that's gonna be funny. He always had a great sense of humor
