I just watched an amazing game. One of the best in recent memory. They're calling it an FA Cup Classic.

Well, might have been very entertaining if you were not a United fan! :

That's because you're Brazilian and he Argentine.

Indeed! Plus, it's good to see the big names knocked out of the Cup. That's what the tournament is all about. I just hope Barnsley can beat Chelsea as well.

Nah not really... I like lots of Argentine players like Riquelme, Mascherano, Aguero... I think Tevez allways seems to take the wrong option, if the best thing to do is to shoot the ball, then he passes, if the best thing to do is to pass, then he shoots...

21st Century Paul:
Sevilla 3-Fenerbahce 2 And Fenerbahce won on penalties. I didn't expect them to be so good. I've been fascinated with Alex what a defensive midfielder, he defends anything and plays the balls like an offensive one. Quite like Zico, his coach... time will tell if he will be similar to Zico or Beckenbauer ... I've been impressed. An Aurelio did a lot of superb passes a la Laudrup.
Acctualy Alex is an offensive midfielder, just as Zico was, but really no way to compare them both, Zico is the best player I've ever seen, better then Maradona, in my opinion... :
Well, I only watched him defending very well... and Zico defended very well too, or that's what they say, I've never seen him. I guess Zico was better than Maradona... and Beckenbauer was better too... not obviously as spectacular as him... you know people always mention Pele and Maradona... but Cruyff, Beckenbauer and Zico were more complete players.

I acctualy watched Alex more in Palmeiras and Cruzeiro, where he didnt defend at all, but usualy when brazilan playes go to europe they learn how to mark, another example is Anderson who was a striker at Gremio... Well I find Zico's playing style similar to Steven Gerrard (of course Zico was better), yes he could mark, he was a very complete player indeed... Beckenbauer was amazing too... Maradona and Pelé are acctualy overrated, in my opinion, sometimes people forget about Puskas and Garrincha (my father's favorite player)...

I didn't comment the Madrid result... I think you, unclesox were going to enjoy doing it. I still don't know why you laugh about it. It's like if I laughed about the Messi injury, that probably will never play the same way again. 50 sprints a game is too much, even for a 20 year old boy!. He will change his game and I think it become really better than now... but will stop doing the same thing over and over, just like happened to Ronaldo. Yeah, horrible match for Real Madrid, deserving to lose. Of course Roma was back in his area... that's what they wanted... catenaccio... Real Madrid did kind of 100 crossings and none of them was dangerous... and still they continued to do crossing, when there is no Beckham to do them and no Van Nistelrooy to score the goal. The only goal was the classic (for 300th time or so... Raul goal but in offside really. I think the competition between Barça and Madrid and the tough Spanish League is the cause for all those injuries. How many players of Barça or Real Madrid have not been injuried this season?

Laughing at a team losing (especially when it's the bitter rival) and laughing at an injury suffered by a player are two different things. If Robinho were to get injured I'd be happy because it would affect Real Madrid, but I'd feel bad for the player himself. Although I do know a few Tottenham fans who laughed at Eduardo's injury. That's not good. Italian teams don't play catenaccio anymore. Not the type that used to be played in the 1960s when scores of 0-0 or 1-0 were often seen. And the Azzuri certainly no longer play like that. In UEFA tournaments many teams play defensive when they are away from home. Even more when they are protecting a lead from the first game. But I wouldn't call it catenaccio. The "away goals rule" and "3 points for a win" were partly designed to eliminate that style of play.

Didn't the FA Cup just get a heap more interesting today. Teams remaining: Saturday, 08 March 2008 Barnsley (1) v Chelsea, (0) Sixth Round, 17:30 Man Utd (0) v Portsmouth, (1) Sixth Round, 12:45 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunday, 09 March 2008 Bristol Rovers v West Brom, Sixth Round, 18:00 Middlesbrough v Cardiff, Sixth Round, 14:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- None of the major Premiership sides have sacrificed places in this competition by fielding understrength sides this year. All the teams remaining are there on merit. Martin
