Royal Wedding - Prince William to Marry Kate Middleton
-
I hope it will be like (i suppose) it was for Diana's wedding, where everyone goes out and has a street party etc...
-
Kate seems to be very down to earth. She & Wills make a good match.

BBC America will broadcast the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, live and commercial-free, in a direct simulcast with BBC One in the UK. http://blogs.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2011/03/16/bbc-america-to-air-royal-wedding-live-and-commercial-free/

William and Kate have arranged a charitable fund to support a series of charities close to their hearts. They hope that those moved by the occasion to mark the event with a personal gift contribute to this fund rather than forward physical items to them. Details of the funds objectives and a link to the actual donation site can be found here: http://www.officialroyalwedding2011.org/blog/2011/March/16/Royal-Wedding-Charitable-Gift-Fund The actual site: http://www.royalweddingcharityfund.org/ When donating to the fund donors can guide the trustees in the general direction their gifts should be directed. The charities fall into five general groups: Changing Live through Arts and Sport Conservation for Future Generations Help and Care at Home Children fulfilling their potential Support for Services Paersonnelk and their families Or donors can donate to all with a general permission. The charities selected do not have royal patronage, some are small in nature, but the choices named may be an indication of the direction of the couples future patronages. Prince William is out on a solo trip to Christchurch New Zealand today visiting the city after it's own earthquake. Besides Commonwealth ties with the city William flies with the Royal Navy Search and Rescue service back here in the UK so is ideally suited to represent the Queen and the UK in this trip. I work in Coventry in the Midlands and they are proudly sporting the title of the most patriotic city in the UK based on the number of applications for street closures to host street parties in celebration of the wedding - apparently Coventry has approved 32 such applications. I am very impressed at how much Wills & Kate are sponsoring charities mainly for children & families. They seem to be very much in touch with things today.

Its so strange to see on tv how they keep saying the prince was groomed to be king. I Thought that. Being king was not a political position. You either are or your not.

What I'm sure everyone is curious to know is will the Queen: a) ever abidicate b) will Charles become King next c) will the Queen pass over Charles in favour of William d) if he should become King, will Charles abidicate & pass the crown on to William I think Wills would make a much better King than Charles
-
GYPSYGIRL:
I had to laugh when I saw the ads on tv & in mags, hawking repros of Diana's engagmenr ring for $20! If they're going to try to make money from repros of such a lovely ring, at least do it thru Franklin Mint or Bradford Exchange & charge a couple of hundred for something decent instead of crappy glass & metal that will turn fingers green. :
Caught a glimpse of this on television yesterday......

Are the Americans more interested in the British Royal family than the Brits are...I'm getting that feeling

What I'm sure everyone is curious to know is will the Queen: a) ever abidicate No. will Charles become King next Yes. c) will the Queen pass over Charles in favour of William No. d) if he should become King, will Charles abidicate & pass the crown on to William No. I think Wills would make a much better King than Charles
Perhaps you need to study the british monarchy then because unless both the Queen and the Prince of Wales die, Wills cannot become king

Jaipur, i am aware of this but anything can change at any time. Just musings at random. Seems like all the young ladies are now setting their sights on Prince Harry as a potential husband!

Funny headline: "UFOs Expected at Royal Wedding"
-
Can't wait to see Kate's dress! Bet it will be very elegant & classy, just like she is.

So when is this big "Do" going to get done? The "veddy big day" must be nigh upon us 'cause I read Kate M. and gal pals have already held a sedate "Hen" party and Harry threw a last gasp bachelor fete for Wills at a country castle in rural England somewhere, might have been in Berkshire "the Royal county" (?) sniff, sniff. Veddy exclusive and elite, ya know. Some Brit wag wrote online this will be nothing like the Prince Charles/Diana nuptials, but appears to me the level of genteel aristocratic enthusiasm and also media hyena-like hysteria over this 'wedding of the 21st century" is rising all the time. Even UFOs plan to hover at a discreet distance in the vicinity of Winchester Cathedral! Aliens got to get in on the action too Elton John cursed the Royals for not inviting him to sing at the wedding reception, and called them "Freaks" on "Saturday Night Live" : ops: Well hell, Elton was privileged to warble at Princess Diana's ultra lavish send off-- the biggest and most fancy funeral I ever saw. Nearly the ceremonial equal of the poor little rich girl's nuptial fest!I can see how "commoner" Brits tire of the Royals always getting the very best of everything, and so much hoopla made over 'em all the time. I'm more excited over the greatly anticipated local High School Prom coming up. My beautiful 17 year old niece, she's exquisite and even has an appealing, enchanting speaking voice like tinkling silver bells, has been planning her senior prom attire, hairstyle and footwear, etc., for months. She's landed a Prince charming too, a tall handsome boyfriend with dark hair and a very winning smile, who helped her pick out her prom gown, to go with his Tux. He went to high school in Germany for two years, because his stepfather is a doctor in the military and was stationed there. He demanded to come back for his last two years in high school, where he's been eagerly immersing himself in Americana even to the point of becoming an Eagle Scout. He's religious, too, his grandparents were missionaries in South America or somewhere, and returned to pastor big churches. His daddy is a lawyer, and he supposedly wants to be one. The good kind of "green" environmentalist lawyer concerned with helping the disadvantaged, one hopes (though it might be the other kind) Anyway, he's very nice. Similar to Prince Wills' interest in Kate reportedly being sparked by her see through dress in a fashion show, David's noticing my niece seemed helped along by a cheeky facebook photo of her in a very skimpy Victoria's Secret bikini, under which he wrote "a hottie with a body" ! She'd better watch her "Juno" movie DVD again. : He's an honors student, who nevertheless was turned down by Duke University (ouch). Rejected ! I'm sure he'll get in another high profile uni albeit one in the South. Not Ivy League, but he's not a snob, anyways

There's also a program series that is just running called "William & Catherine, A Royal Romance"

LOVE that William and Kate have requested charitable donations in lieu of wedding gifts.
