Triplets Love Paul:
Wednesdays in September with star of the month, Lauren Bacall 16 films and 2 documentaries Tonight, beginning at 8 PM EDT Lauren in her debut film, To Have and Have Not The chemistry between Bacall and Bogart in this film......
"You know you don't have to act with me, Steve. You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow." ~ Lauren Bacall as Marie 'Slim' Browning in To Have and Have NotBacall, Betty Grable, and Marilyn Monroe in How To Marry A Millionaire on Weds. night. Classic comedy!

Movies like those are perfect for a nice, cold night under a warm blanket and a cupboard full o' cocoa. Don't think I could sleep after two Hitchcock films back-to-back, though. And isn't Niagara a thriller, too. Yikes!
Now that is a BEAUTIFUL thought! Just add a roaring fireplace to make it picture perfect! Yes, Niagara is indeed a thriller.

My daughters and I LOVE this film! Marilyn's underrated comedic talent in this film is priceless! Unfortunately we may have to miss this airing - we have tickets for a one night only screening of Hitchcock's The Birds beginning at 7pm. Just waiting to see what the homework load looks like that night to find out if we will be able to attend. Hope you enjoy this film as much as we do!

Those movies are both super classics!!!

I would be interested in seeing the Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein double feature next month but the nearest theater is about 90 miles away. Oh well, I just watched Bride last week anyway.

When I saw The Birds as a kid ...... it scared the crud out of me ... When I went to a place near my house it looked like something out of that movie and I got out of there as fast as I could .... Now I see it .... and it looks mild compared to many movies .... but a classic worth seeing

Dave, so sorry to learn that you will not be able to attend. My triplets are very excited about seeing these two films on the big screen as watching these has been a part of our Halloween tradition since they can remember. Absolutely LOVE that TCM is presenting a series of classic films on the big screen! Cannot wait to see Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird in November! Homework load permitting, E.T. next Wednesday!

No, sadly my town is being ignored by TCM. I wish they would air the documentary extras that accompany the film showings.

I thought the same whilst watching the introduction and interviews with Robert Osborne during the screening of The Birds. Hopefully the event series screenings will continue to remain successful and find their way to a theater near you in the future - fingers crossed!

I played football against Boys Town as a teenager once before they went Coed. I remember side stepping the center and nailing the quarterback about 3 times in a row as a nose guard. I got a helmet in the stomach by the center that knocked the wind out of me right after that. I also remember a catholic father catching one of the boys hiding underneath our bleachers checking out our cheerleaders. The Father led him away by the ear! I also got a chance to try out as a punt receiver that day, but the punter kicked it over our heads into the endzone. It was an interesting day indeed!

News from Robert Osborne:
So now the plan is this: I'll still be hosting prime time movies six nights a week, every Monday thru Thursday, but taking Friday nights off. Ben Mankiewicz will initially step in, until, in early 2013, there will be a series of guest movie experts presenting special Friday night screenings. Every Saturday night, I'll continue hosting The Essentials with Drew Barrymore, at 8 pm Eastern (Drew is joining me throughout the 2013-14 season as well). Each Sunday night, I'll be at my regular spot hosting the movies at 8 pm and 10 pm Eastern. It's a schedule that lessens my on-air work load to a degree that makes it very comfortable and do-able for me, and one I hope you'll find agreeable as well. You'll be seeing more news about all this as things take shape in the coming months. I just wanted you to know.

The Best Years of Our Lives Tonight, Tuesday, 9th October 9:45pm EDT The Best Years of Our Lives is one of those rare films with several incredibly powerful character studies. A poignantly moving performance from Harold Russel in his Oscar-winning role. Definitely a "must see" film and a classic film collection Essential.
