The rain thankfully has departed here, but I do enjoy a good Spencer Tracy film, especially from the 1930s. My home state prooduced some fine "golden age" actors (Tracy, Fredric March. Fred MacMurray, Pat O'Brien).

Was MacMurray born in Wisconsin?
Yes, he is from Beaver Dam (down the road from my mother's home town). He had quite a varied career. My favorite of his is Double Indemnity. I also love his costar in that film, Edward G. Robinson, whose favorite film of mine is Our Vines Have Tender Grapes (scripted by Dalton Trumbo), in which he, coincidentally, plays a Wisconsin farmer.

I thought MacMurray was born elsewhere, I must be slipping! ops: Double Indemnity - great choice, you have good taste! I, too, like Edward G. Robinson, he had a great voice. Memorable in Key Largo, and absolutely LOVED him as Dathan in The Ten Commandments. I have never seen Our Vines Have Tender Grapes. I will now be on the lookout for this one.

This year I saw "Alice Adams" with MacMurray & Katherine Hepburn. Had to see it again. It's now one of my all time faves. Best acting I've ever seen from both Hepburn & MacMurray

Last Wednesday night we attended TCM's one night only screening of Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein. Sooooo much fun, LOVED every minute of this double feature!!! Very much enjoyed Robert Osborne's introduction and interview clips with Bela Lugosi's son, Bela Lugosi, Jr., Boris Karloff's daughter, Sara Karloff, and make-up artist, Rick Baker. Incredibly cool to see these films on the big screen, a fantastic Halloween treat!!! Halloween chills and thrills all day and night... If you could not make it to the screening in theaters last Wednesday night, don't miss Frankenstein tonight... Wednesday, 31st October 8pm EDT Frankenstein Happy Halloween!!! ![](http://www.animated-smileys.com/smileys/halloween/animated-smileys-halloween-110.gif[/img] [img]http://www.animated-smileys.com/smileys/halloween/animated-smileys-halloween-110.gif"/>

Tonight -- Bullitt -- McQueen -- Mustang -- Charger -- Car chase That's pretty much all I gotta say about THAT!

I should have given "Alice Adams" a chance--it bored me and I stopped watching after awhile. A poster here gave it raves. Spencer Tracy is a very natural actor, very effective. He was said to be miscast in "Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde" with Ingrid Bergman. I saw some of that, he was fairly good in it, but not one of his best, so perhaps he was miscast. Tracy got in movies back then despite not being very handsome as most of the leading men had to be, then. I'm thinking Tyrone Power, jeeze he was a stunner especially in the brilliant "The Razor's Edge" based on a Somerset Maugham novel. Power ran around Paris in a long leather trench coat and beret, man he was cool. Especially when his character was shown seeking Eastern wisdom and enlightenment on a mountain in India. He came away from war and from India with a good value system, non-materialistic and associated with the poor and marginalized, like Jesus, and was going to marry an alcoholic to save her. That was an excellent film.

To Kill a Mockingbird, The Miracle Worker, Lawrence of Arabia, Days of Wine and Roses, Sweet Bird of Youth, Lolita, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, the first Bond film, Dr. No, and although I have tried not to fall asleep on several occasions, I still do not know who shot Liberty Valance! Looking forward to tonight on TCM... 8:00 PM EST Doctor Zhivago LOVE Omar Sharif's portrayal of Yuri!
