BTW: Remember the so-called "Contract With America" in the '90s? Included in the GOP's supposed manifesto of promises was term limits. What happened to that?
The contract on America was a canard to solicit votes, much like promises of lowering or raising taxes.

Obama first President since Eisenhower to reach 51% of the vote twice
And Eisenhower (Republican) was the first since Roosevelt (Democrat), who was the first since McKinley (Republican).

the more money that one group has...the less money that another group has
This election cost over US$2,000,000,000. How many jobs could have been created with that money?

The irony being in the fact that this money was spent on the various works of people, and put money back into the economy. I think that the most important thing that people can do is to keep spending their money on other people's good works and keep the money moving, rather than to sit on piles of gold and silver like many rightwing economic philosophers think that we should.

I thought, "I know this guy" that guy appears in the movie Inside Job...
yes he is -
In the aftermath of this senseless, heinous crime while we gather ourselves to give support and again state that we can not let this happen again we will be reminded of why it has been so difficult to make any progress against the gun violence. As we try to even discuss the possibility of enacting policies to prevent such tragedy in the future there will be the usual push back. But,but our freedoms! What about our freedoms? How about our rights and the constitution? For over thirty years the 'freedoms' argument has won. The party of individualism over common good, massive deregulation over sensible protections and of having the confidence that if the few do very well with no impediments, their success will 'trickle down' upon the rest of us has stacked the cards. We are now witness to what has been wrought from the abundance of 'freedoms' The abundance of 'freedom' has wrecked the global economy and has been responsible for the loss of a generation of forward movement by the middle class. 'Freedoms' made our health care system one of the most incommensurate on Earth. With access only to those well enough or wealthy enough to afford it. The 'freedom' to pollute has driven our planet to a climate crisis which imperils our species and which we may not be able to mitigate. 'Freedoms' have endangered our education system, our health, our food systems and our very privacy. And now 'freedom' has massacred our children. I am sick to death of 'freedoms' There is no freedom without responsibility

freedom what freedom the constitution does not say that it says the right to bear arms against a government, not personal arms. It was a clause justifying rebellion.

you miss the point...

President Obama speaking to the tragedy that killed 20 children 6 teachers
More Americans have been killed in our country within in the last year by guns than all U.S. soldiers killed in all of the years of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. -
There is no need -- none, whatsoever -- for any ordinary citizen to own a weapon -- or an ARSENAL of weapons -- that are designed to do nothing more than kill as many people as possible within a matter of seconds. The N.R.A. is a disgrace. They have placed profits over human-cost, and have ruined political careers of politicians who dare to bring reasoned arguments to the gun-control debate. And they will continue to do so.

i agree with all you said except
And they will continue to do so.
This time it's different. We will take them on and immediately Feinstein is introducing a bill to to ban assault weapons AGAIN as republicans let the original law expire in 2004 and we will do more. Just let the right wing bots vote against reinstating the AW ban. Bring it on! The shooters paranoid mother sure wasn't protected by her private weapons arsenal was she?

I hope I'm wrong. I truly do.

You know, I don't expect rural America to transform itself overnight, despite Obama's re-election, but I thought that even they could repress their racist, hillbilly, pig-f-cker tendencies in the wake of the Sandy Hook mass-shooting. But, alas... Bradley Patterson: Anti-Obama Tweet During Sunday Night Football Gets Division II Football Player Kicked Off Team: "...Obama?s speech at the Sandy Hook shooting memorial took over the airways, causing NFL fans to miss the first quarter of the game between the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers. This brought a hate-filled and often racist backlash on Twitter as several angry fans demanded that Obama be taken off their screens and football brought back. The report found a number of tweets bashing the president personally, often using racist and vaguely threatening language. One of the tweets appears to be very costly. A twitter user who goes by the name Bradley Patterson made the remark: ?Take that n****r off the tv, we wanna watch football.? ..." http://www.inquisitr.com/441841/bradley-patterson-anti-obama-tweet-during-sunday-night-football-gets-division-ii-football-player-kicked-off-team/

The issue with what happened recently is also an issue of Mental Health. That needs to be addressed as well. Remember the zero tolerance rules in school? Kids being expelled for crocheting and cutting birthday cakes or having nail files in makeup kits. we don't want that to happen on a national level.

When The Constitution was written...Men had one shot flintlock rifles that took 1 to 2 minutes to reload.

Some people need to take their heads out of the sand! Guns are not the problem, how can anyone miss that? It's sinful Godless people that are the problem, guns don't kill, people do!! A gun can't do one single thing unless a human being uses it, so it's not the guns, it's the ruthless, evil, twisted, unGodly person! I shared with you that a tsunami was coming and it has started, it will appear in all kinds of forms, just watch. America chose the side of the unGodly, and it will reap what it has sown. Doesn't matter what you say, what you think, whether you agree or not, the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, THE ALMIGHTY GOD has warned us. If you take God out of everything, what on Earth do you think you will have left? Sin, evil, unGodliness so don't be surprised, this is the road we have chosen!!

And until God becomes an influential Senator, let's work with our current Congress and get some common-sense, gun-control legislation passed in the meantime. The right to own a gun does not trump my right to not get shot by one. I have a boyfriend who wants me alive n' well.

Then there's the statement about "jobs", I mean producing weapons also "creates jobs". Does it sound familar? just like the "Obamacare" thing, in the end the debate is: Jobs vs Lives. What is more important and what receives bigger protection.

I've heard similar arguments regarding cigarettes. They create a public-health crisis, yet, employ many people in "tobacco states" like Kentucky.
