If I paid only 13% in taxes, I'd be in jail. Romney says he's paid at least 13% in taxes http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/08/mitt-romney-taxes-13-percent/1
Hey, but you're not rich, the rich ones pay a lower %. In Spain it's something like 1% or 2%, believe it or not. It's not officially like that but it's easy to use some legal financial instruments that lead you to pay that, but it can be used only if you have a huge amount of money. So... 2+2=... I think it was Warren Buffett who said his employees pay more tributes than him. Feudal tribute system, that's what we've got today.

Wasn't calling you out, but what shall we debate? Abortion?
It's a hot issue. I definitely have my point of view. But women should have the last word on that one.
Before discussing abortion I would discuss the whole punishing laws. Like "sending people to jail to make them better people" and all that, "eye for an eye"... For worse or for better abortion is I thing I don't have to think about.

Found this information interesting as it combines music with a candidate--apparently Mitt Romney has been using the Silversun Pickups song "Panic Switch" at his events without the band's permission. Nice job of modeling good behavior. Anyway a member of the band had this to say: Aubert says, "We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign. We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney!" ETA: Aubert also says Romney's a victim of irony because "he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign."
There are countless scenarios of Republican politicians using rock artists' music without their permission. Can't blame those politicians: If they only used music of like-minded musicians, they would be limited to country and -- well -- that's it: Country.
/ the most surreal example of this was Bush Sr using Springsteen's "Born In The USA" as him campaign anthem...
Actually it was Ronald Regan who quoted the song in a speech. Bush Sr. used 'This Land Is Your Land'.

Well, I remember Bush Sr. campaign with Born in the USA in the background or was it another Rep candidate? They use many songs. Woody Guthrie? What's next? Masters of War?

The problem with 'arguing with idiots' is that the idiots also believe they are 'arguing with idiots'. It's a two way street. It's to note that it's also a futile effort to debate with a liberal.
Yep, that's why it's important to deconstruct your opponents argument when on the defensive and validate your opinions with substantive, fact-based backing (as opposed to passing off op-ed pieces as fact), rather than simply make vague references to idiots and passive-aggressively implying that the liberals are out to lunch. Doing this is a good way to distinguish those that are 'arguing with idiots' from idiots that think they are arguing with idiots.
I want your brain, service_gamer.
That's exactly it service_gamer But facts don't go over so well on this thread... some have difficulty absorbing facts and don't know facts from opinion

Facts have become a moot dynamic with the righties. I'm stunned that Romney is still competitive in the polls. His supporters are seemingly oblivious to his numerous contradictions and flip-flops. They are disregarding the fact that he was a pioneer in outsourcing U.S. jobs to China and India. It seems like that Medicare FRAUD scandal is a non-issue to them, too. They don't seem to care that he'd made a total ass of himself -- and embarrassed the U.S. -- in his gaffe-filled week in Europe. And his supporters are fine with the likelihood of wars in Iran and Syria -- despite a war-exhausted military, where suicides are skyrocketing. Do we really need George W. Bush: The Sequel?

BTW...abortion is not really a political issue. Abortion is a private emotional issue that the right wing uses to manipulate their base to vote against their own economic issues. Like gay rights. The money guys & corporate interests manipulate their peons to vote to send their money up the ladder to them. It's all about the money and greed. And the peons eat it up with those paid to sow the hate like limbaugh, beck etc. BTWII this is 2 guys discussing what a women should do with her body : Give me a break The right wingers on here know nothing about the facts of economic issues. That is where the discussion needs to be...because they vote against their own interests and not only hurt themselves but hurt the rest of us and their country too

I agree with you all the way. It is a personal issue -- but I elected to engage the person who raised the issue because so many politicians have deceived their flock into making choice a moral issue.

There's only ONE way to prove that he's telling the truth because you know he lies about EVERYTHING SHOW THE TAX RETURNS Not showing them just proves that he's lying. There's stuff on there that is incriminating ...so obvious
Here's why I think no one should just take Willard Romney's word for it: Romney got caught lying about his 1999-'02 Federal Tax Returns and had retroactively filed an amended return. Romney's campaign asked Massachusetts residents to "Trust us." Romney filed, showing Massachusetts as his primary residence --- but that was proven to be b.s. SHOW US THE RETURNS, MITTENS! LIVE UP TO THE STANDARD YOUR FATHER CREATED! Or just don't run to be my President.

These are editorials. But it still speaks volumes that these pieces characterize Romney's misrepresentation of Obama's $716 billion dollar savings for Medicare as I do: Lies. Yup, ryan's lies and flip-flopping has begun and of course mittens has never stopped http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/romney-spell-paul-ryan-flip-flops-begin.php?ref=fpnewsfeed
Ryan?s latest reversal came on the stump Thursday, when the House budget chief criticized President Obama for failing to crack down on China, echoing a common Romney attack. ?President Obama promised he would stop these practices. He said he?d go to the mat with China. Instead they?re treating him like a doormat,? Ryan said at an Ohio rally. ?We?re not going to let that happen. Mitt Romney and I are going to crack down on China cheating.? Ryan has consistently opposed measures to crack down on China?s currency manipulation practices, which tilt the playing field against American labor. Last fall, he voted against a bill to impose tariffs on countries that significantly undervalue their currency. Late in 2010, he voted against allowing the government to slap duties on imported goods from nations undervaluing their currencies. As far back as 2000, he voted for a bill to block the U.S. government from placing trade sanctions on China, an effort to normalize relations. The Chamber of Commerce has regularly fought sanctions on China. A campaign spokesperson for Ryan did not immediately return a request for comment.
Separately on Thursday, following days of seeking to go on offense on a vulnerable issue, Ryan came full circle in flip-flopping on Medicare savings in the Affordable Care Act, which he embraced in his own 2011 and 2012 budget blueprints. Following Romney, he now pledges to restore the estimated $716 billion in 10-year cuts to provider reimbursements.
They have to lie & flip flop. If they told the truth about what they plan to do people would literally run screaming from them Except for the wing nut basebots they can't distinguish the truth from fiction anymore They can't even come on this thread anymore because they don't know how to deal with facts and they can't defend their candidate because there's nothing to defend. They can't even communicate why they support their candidate. To be expected from people who are manipulated to vote against their own and their countries interest. How pathetic

Amazing, wise, 92 year retired ND Judge wrote this hilarious poem
WHEREFORE ART THOU, MITT ROMNEY? By Ralph Maxwell O, Romney-O, Romney-O, Wherefore art thou, Mitt Romney? You flip-flop here, you flip-flop there, You flip-flop almost ev'rywhere. You ballyhoo what you're gonna do And then you pull a switcheroo; You now malign what you found fine; Seems like you've got a jellyfish spine. Obamacare, by you begun, Now you'd trash it on day one. Gun control you did extol, But now you're preaching decontrol. O, Romney-O, Romney-O, Wherefore art thou, Mitt Romney? We've got no clue what you will do Or what new view you'll pander to. Time was you championed women's choice, But you no longer heed their voice; On gay rights, too, guess you withdrew Support they once enjoyed from you. Global warming, EPA, Immigration, minimum pay, Roe V. Wade, also fair trade, All joined your flip-flop cavalcade. O, Romney-O, Romney-O Wherefore art thou, Mitt Romney? So many things that you were for You've turned against and slammed the door. Stimulus and cap and trade, Education, foreign aid, Campaign reform, tarp rescues, too, All victims of your switcheroo. You take your stand on shifting sand, We never know where you will land; You vacillate, and you fabricate, A wishy-washy candidate. O, Romney-O, Romney-O, Wherefore art thou Mitt Romney? As gov'nor you let taxes rise, Now ev'ry tax you demonize. You say regardless of the facts You'd take an axe to the millionaire's tax; You'd feed the greed of the richest few The poor and middle class you'd screw. Your tax returns you hide from view What evil lurks there we've no clue; If they're not bad why hesitate? Is it that they incriminate? O, Romney-O, Romney-O, Wherefore art thou Mitt Romney? At Bain you plundered with a flair And walked away a zillionaire. You shipped off-shore, good jobs galore To China, India, Singapore; A job creator you are not. And to boast you are is tommyrot. As a total fraud, Mitt's got no peer; What we must do is crystal clear: Let's give Obama four more years! Yes, it's Obama ? four more years! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!

Say what you will about Paul Ryan ... but consider this ... Paul Ryan Takes Apart Obamacare in 6 Minutes
And he does so without a teleprompter And I seem to recollect that Democrats proudly asked in 2008, "Who would you rather have as President Sara Palin or Joe Biden?" I now ask the same question - who would you rather have as President: Joe Biden or Paul Ryan :The video cuts off just as the President was about to give his rebuttal. And, by the way, I don't believe that Republicans want to "save Medicare." It is my belief that they want to systemically obliterate it. They never wanted it in the first place. I am hopeful that in my lifetime, the U.S. will have universal healthcare -- just like every other advanced nation.
O for pete's sake ... everything is not about Obama ... do you have any idea how many hundreds of times the press and/or the Whitehouse has cut off others over the past 4 years ???!!! It's about time for the reverse to occur

I'd be delighted if you could cite at least one instance of these hundreds of occurrences. But since you and I both know that it's hyperbole, I'll skip to asking what's wrong with wondering what happened to President Obama's rebuttal when the topic at hand is "Obamacare"? I'll hang up and listen.
