Found this information interesting as it combines music with a candidate--apparently Mitt Romney has been using the Silversun Pickups song "Panic Switch" at his events without the band's permission. Nice job of modeling good behavior. Anyway a member of the band had this to say: Aubert says, "We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign. We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney!" ETA: Aubert also says Romney's a victim of irony because "he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign."

This is incredibly shocking An independent study was done on mittens v.p. candidate ryan's (popular with republicans budget) Here's what the numbers add up to....
Paul Ryan?s latest budget doesn?t just fail to address job creation, it aggressively slows job growth. Against a current policy baseline, the budget cuts discretionary programs by about $120 billion over the next two years and mandatory programs by $284 billion, sucking demand out of the economy when it most needs it and leading to job loss. Using a standard macroeconomic model that is consistent with that used by private- and public-sector forecasters, the shock to aggregate demand from near-term spending cuts would result in roughly 1.3 million jobs lost in 2013 and 2.8 million jobs lost in 2014, or 4.1 million jobs through 2014.
This is mind boggling I don't think most republicans even know what they are supporting But, it's not surprising because the consequences of their economic policies have just about destroyed the world economy. Wait there's more
Low-income households will also face higher taxes because Ryan would allow certain tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and the American Opportunity Tax Credit to fall from their current levels. Redistributing money away from people who spend more of each marginal dollar of disposable income (low- and moderate-income households) to those with much higher savings rates (high-income households) is broadly recognized as leading to a decline in aggregate demand.
This is stunning what they are proposing They would destroy what is left of the world economy and we would go back to the stone ages http://www.epi.org/blog/paul-ryan-budget-discretionary-cuts-cost-jobs/ This is the most dangerous time and the wingnutters are the most dangerous people
Add in Ryan's proposed cuts in Medicaid and we're talking another 862,000 lost jobs. That's a total of almost 5 million jobs lost. In two years.
Why do they hate their own country : : :
worth repeating
Certainly a more valid conclusion than the supposed "war on religion" or how the First Lady supposedly "hates America." But with all the filibusters, blocking the Jobs Bill and on and on, one wonders: Why do conservatives (seemingly) hate their own country?

There are countless scenarios of Republican politicians using rock artists' music without their permission. Can't blame those politicians: If they only used music of like-minded musicians, they would be limited to country and -- well -- that's it: Country.

Part of this incident is that the Republican Party promised after the Jackson Brown/McCain debacle in the last campaign to secure permission from artists before using songs for campaigns. Oh look, another broken promise...

... And speaking of lying, it should come as no suprise to you that Obama completely and utterly lied about Paul Ryan's position on Welfare and Medicare...such a stupid lie....
And what would that lie be, pray tell? And be specific for once. I can't tell you how many times mustangsally10 and I have provided irrefutable facts and examples -- only to have them completely un-acknowledged by you and others who share your flawed perspective.
rich n:
...he should stick to the more lies which take up more of a challenge to rebut, such as 'where was Obama born' or 'does he really have the college degree he claims to have'...
Name ONE other President whose collegiate credientials had EVER been suspect...or had ever been an issue (besides the under-achieving Dubya). Name ONE. Obama's college record is another b.s. attempt of the righties' desire to de-legitimize this man's Presidency. And we all know why. Your side just can't stand, can't bear, can't accept, can't cope with the fact that one of "them" lives in our White House. JMHO.
Your 'irrefutable facts' comes from sources like media matters, daily kos, etc and you wonder why you I don't take these 'irrefutable facts' seriously?!?!?!? LOL...I can't wait to hear these outlet's spin on the Biden comments from earlier today...(he's a gross retard...I don't care how insensitive that sounds...it's a legit /astute observation which in stating, helps me from truly going off on what a f**ktard this guy really is) But to your question, on the very day (or following day) that Ryan was selected, Obama went on the attack and accused him of trying to undermine an emergency aid package Ryan signed in favor of (farm drought aid)...LOL...another freak-tard in action...fortunately the polls reflect the weariness of these actions...wait until the 'common sense-laden focus on the actual issue' debates come forth and Obama gets caught with his thumb up his arse...it will no longer be relatively even in the polls...all his 'take from the rich, give to the poor, but you won't have a job, but we'll give you some candy' crap will go by the wayside, just as his hold on the most important office in the world will go. What's Obama going to do when Paul Ryan presents him with actual video proof, saying 'yo you dumb clucky one - here is video evidence of me signing the aid package you said I tried to derail'???? But I'm pretty sure media matters, daily kos, etc etc etc won't even cover the Biden story or the Obama lie (or will put a very pretty spin on it in Obama's favor...LOL)[/list]
Rich, you realize that the number of times you mention Media Matters and Daily Kos dwarfs the number of times that mustangsally and audi actually reference them, right? And if you can't do anything better than 'blah, blah, blah liberal trash' to deconstruct an argument, the source of the information is as irrelevant as your lame attempt at refuting it. And you keep referencing these "polls" that would be indicative of a supposed Obama-weariness on the part of the majority of voters, yet most polling -- be it mainstream, alternative-liberal, or otherwise -- indicates the exact opposite. Ignoring the amusing hypocrisy of demanding pointed facts only from 'Rich's List of Approved News Sources' yet making vague, baseless claims to advance your argument, the polling that shows Obama with an advantage over Romney at this point in time is validated by a staunch conservative such as yourself resorting to childish name-calling when discussing the opposition. audi calls Romney a hypocrite for his criticisms of Obama's private-sector inexperience despite his running mate's similarly lacking resume. You call Biden a retard and a f***tard because, well, you just don't like him. If you're going to be such a hateful, poor sport now, I can't imagine how insufferable you'll be on Election Day, regardless of the outcome.
Notice how certain folks never respond to you after you take 'em to that proverbial woodshed?
You're joking, right? You, 'service_gamer' and 'Mustang' are all off your rockers when it comes to politics...thus I simply chose to fight my battles efficiently...for example, 'mustang' posted something about 20-someodd weeks of growth...what wasn't mentioned was that this growth is 1.5% and is the lowest (for this many weeks into recovery after a recession) in history...and ah 'oh by the way', she forgot to mention unemployment creeping back up to 8.3%...Just a small sampling of what I'm talking about...and you have a race baiting vice president...and just because I'm sort of a 'white sheep' in a largely puerto rican and black family (everyone on my dad's side of the family, including my dad) doesn't take me out of your boat (since YOU like to play the race card on a regular basis)...But don't let a few facts get in the way of your fun...

It's pretty obvious(to anyone with a brain and even a short knowledge of history) that the repub/conservative policies have just about destroyed the US and the world economy and yet they keep advocating for the same policies which have been proven to be a massive failure So they're either full out nuts or hate their country Perhaps both otherwise why would they support the crap plan above Now they're actually doubling down on those policies according to the ryan plan. Total lunacy Anyone who would vote for them is voting against their own and their countries interest

Our elderly citizens deserve better than this. Pennsylvania Court Upholds Voter ID Law: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/pennsylvania-court-upholds-voter-id-law/
Republicans are disregarding Section 5 of The Voting Rights Act, which says, according to the Dept. of Justice: "Under Section 5, any change with respect to voting in a covered jurisdiction -- or any political subunit within it -- cannot legally be enforced unless and until the jurisdiction first obtains the requisite determination by the United States District Court for the District of Columbia or makes a submission to the Attorney General. This requires proof that the proposed voting change does not deny or abridge the right to vote on account of race, color, or membership in a language minority group. If the jurisdiction is unable to prove the absence of such discrimination, the District Court denies the requested judgment, or in the case of administrative submissions, the Attorney General objects to the change, and it remains legally unenforceable." http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/vot/sec_5/about.php

I have been following the voter surppession issue for several months now -- and I'm glad that this critical matter is finally being exposed. My view may offend some, but here's my take: It is utterly partisan and racist that Ohio Republicans on local/county levels are expanding hours and days for conservative-heavy districts -- and shortening hours/days of areas that have a higher black population. There is no way to interpret these sleazy tactics as anything other than racist. Overt discrimination in Ohio's voting rules http://www.kentucky.com/2012/08/16/2300882/overt-discrimination-in-ohios.html

Sorry, We?re Closed: Some Ohio Counties Opt Against Extra Early Voting Hours http://www.aclu.org/blog/voting-rights/sorry-were-closed-some-ohio-counties-opt-against-extra-early-voting-hours One thing we should ALL be agreeing on is that no citizen should be discouraged from voting. We're expected to be greeted as liberators when we infiltrate other countries, yet, we don't embrace our own democracy-based principles.

August 9, 2012 The Postmodern President Keeping it simple postmodernism is a: "... literary theory that rejects objective reality and insists instead that everything is a matter of interpretation and relative "truth." At any rate he's running the first postmodern Presidential campaign, now organized almost exclusively around allegations about his opponent that bear no relation to the observable universe." http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443537404577577193632921170.html like it or not ... it's an interesting read (and worth a few moments)
Hey, that's Relativism not Postmodernism, and it's older than Aristotle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativism Though well, they're pretty similar, it's kind of Relativism revisited. Like "No-one is right, you have my opinion and I have mine and both are valid. It's all a matter of opinion, there's no right or wrong" That's it. Or even to deny Truth can exist or anything can be true (and they believe that to be true, I guess )
Well ... if you are only commenting on the snippet that I posted ... the whole article is still worth a read.
I don't read virtually any political stuff or article, I think it's a waste of time. I'd rather listen to the Spice Girls.
but if you have no interest in following politics, then how can anyone take your opinion serious? Just asking..
Exactly because of that. I actually don't take seriously the opinion of anyone who takes the mass media seriously. But if they the take the mass media seriously then they won't take me seriously, of course. The more mass media a person uses the worst informed he is.
Speaking of The Spice Girls - I don't really care for them musically. However, I would prefer listening to them for 30 minutes rather than listening to a President Obama speech of the same length. And don't get me wrong - it's not because of a personal lack of respect of the President. It's really because he's been on the media too much (way too much - over the past 4 years). He says the same sort of things all the time. He's become boring. So we agree the Spice Girls singing wins ...
We agree, I would prefer listening to the Spice Girls to any president speech. It's not a lack of respect, I just prefer the other option.
